Skinny: Both teams are entering this season with a lot of unknowns and uncertainty if they are truly ready for things to begin, but to begin somewhere is what will happen. The visiting Pirates will return all-state quarterback Rogers for his senior year and that will be important as he was the workhorse for the team last year (1,4001 yards passing, 13 TDs, 5 INTs, 537 yards rushing, 10 TDs) and the Pirates will be counting on him to put up the same results or even better in this season of unknowns. For the host Wildcats, youth was a big factor in the team’s regression and not reaching the playoffs last season after having done over several seasons prior. However, with a year of experience under a lot of the guys’ belt, the Wildcats should be much improved, at least on paper. However, there is a lot of unknowns just how much COVID-19 might have impacted the potentials of further gains and that won’t be unknown until we are a couple of games into the season. At least for now expect the Wildcats to have some leadership from players like Brown and Refoure who had to step up and help lead last year. Nonetheless, expect a game to take place again this year between these two programs.
