District Tournaments start Monday across this state this week in Girls Flag Football and we look at each of the four regions across the two FHSAA classifications in Girls Flag Football to give you some of our thoughts with the expanded district tournaments.

DISTRICT 2A-1

TEAMS: Cantonment Tate, Crestview, Navarre, Niceville, Pace, Tallahassee Chiles, Tallahassee Leon, Tallahassee Lincoln

GLANCE: This might just be the toughest district in the Sunshine State in Flag Football and if you look at the teams here there is six teams that legitimately could walk away with the district championship. Niceville and Navarre have been the two best teams in the district, but do not put it past Crestview, Pace, Chiles, or Lincoln to put up a fight and walk away as district champions. It is pretty much wide open here along the I-10 corridor.

DISTRICT 2A-2

TEAMS: Flagler Palm Coast, Jacksonville Atlantic Coast, Jacksonville First Coast, Jacksonville Mandarin, Jacksonville Sandalwood, Neptune Beach Fletcher, Orange Park Fleming Island, Orange Park Oakleaf

GLANCE: Fleming Island, who is state-ranked, and Sandalwood have shown they are likely the two teams to beat in this district. In most years, Mandarin would be in the conversation for a district championship as well, but injuries have riddled the Mustangs this season. The dark horse in all of this could be Oakleaf who is hosting the district tournament.

DISTRICT 2A-3

TEAMS: Apopka, Apopka Wekiva, DeLand, New Smyrna Beach, Ocoee, Port Orange Spruce Creek, Winter Garden West Orange

GLANCE: Several teams in this district are certainly worthy of possibly breaking through and getting to the regional playoff bracket including Apopka, who is the No. 1 seed, DeLand, New Smyrna Beach, and Spruce Creek. Like District 2A-1 this is a good example of a district to show that either taking district runners-up or going to the rankings for at-large bids after district champions are.

DISTRICT 2A-4

TEAMS: Orlando Boone, Orlando Colonial, Orlando East River, Orlando Edgewater, Orlando Evans, Orlando Timber Creek, Orlando University; Winter Park

GLANCE: This district will come down to Timber Creek and East River who hold the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the district. It has been hard to gauge where the other teams will fall and who will emerge to play the Wolves and Falcons respectively in the semifinals most likely.

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

2A-1: Niceville
2A-2: Fleming Island
2A-3: Spruce Creek
2A-4: Timber Creek
