  1. Yeah, I get that. I was pissed when Robinson missed playoffs last year to Jefferson despite beating them head to head and having the same record. Son's team missed out on playoffs. In retrospect, all they had to do was beat a lousy Middleton team and they blew it. So while I agree RPI has had dumb results, we are stuck with this shit until enough people make a fuss.
  2. The good thing is, that this would also result in less classes. But this makes far too much sense, so the FHSAA would never consider it. Because they want those meaningless first-round games in eight separate classes, 3/4 of which don't mean a damn thing.
  3. guys, we're splitting hairs. The team with the better record got in. I think plant would probably trounce Nona going head to head, but it doesn't matter. Something has to be a determining factor in situations like this. That's why this whole RPI system is a complete joke. There are too many factors that really don't make a bit of difference. The way to fix the system, once and for all, as I've said for years, and years, and years, is to have 8-team districts across the board. This fixes everything. and the district's, well largely geographic, wouldn't only have to be geographic. if the FHSAA does not want to put Miami Central, Miami Carol City and Miami northwestern in the same district, for example, then they can spread them out in the region.
  4. Perspective, your elegant post is missing one key factor. Plant did not beat anyone on their schedule with a pulse. They blew the game against B-Dale (how many red zone turnovers?) and got boat raced by Armwood, Tech, Gonzaga, and Steinbrenner. Had a back and forth tussle with Gaither, who pulled away when it mattered. The bottom line is that this was a bad football team. On offense, how many drops? I'd bet near 50. On defense, they were constantly gashed by mediocre backs because of poor tackling and lack of want to. Their corners also played 10-12 yards off the ball and every good team they played took big advantage of this, resulting in lots of easy first downs. Add in the YAC after a lot of those receptions and Plant's D was literally non-existent in some of those games. We have a goofy system in place to determine the playoffs for non-district winner. I've said all along that if the districts are large enough, we don't need formulas and trickery. It all comes out in the wash if the districts are good sized.
  5. There is not one team in 8A that any of the top four to six teams in 7A would fear
  6. Plant blew out the shit teams and got blown out by the good teams. They had a close loss to Gaither. Their only close game Plant didn't deserve the playoffs. Lake Nona isn't good either, but they played a slightly easier schedule that allowed them to win a few more games. 8A is weak, and any team that gets in has a shot.
  7. Yes. FSU should fire the President, AD, and entire football staff and start from scratch.
  8. Don't know about the stats, but Tim Tebow and unheralded Justin Hickman from Armwood had a great QB battle in 2005.
  9. Passionate people do not act like the carbon copy of rule book. If you have no passion for football, don't coach it or play it.
  10. I don't know about that. If you win your district you should at least be rewarded with one home game. Can always reseed based on RPI after the first round that seems fair
  11. That does seem to be the fairest system I've seen. The other way would be to have very big districts. And the top two make it, but you need districts with no less than seven teams.
  12. But there needs to be a little more emphasis on winning. as everyone knows, I'm a plant alumn and follow the program. But does a 4 and 6 record warrant the playoffs? That is if they beat Robinson. And they haven't beat one quality team on their schedule. Wharton had a winning record, but they played nothing but cream puffs. I'd like to see the winning part of the RPI move up to 45%.
  13. Yep, it's ridiculous. again, context. If you are cursing at an official or cursing another player because you're angry or you're taunting him, then fine give them a penalty. But if you're just voicing frustration the officials should let It go and move on
  14. 6 a is weak. Dillard can win. They just have to get over that hurdle of the Dade County schools.
  15. remember different time. Weiner used to be very animated on the sidelines. He hasn't been in many years. He used to be in the officials grills and they didn't like that. He's calmed down. Believe Mike Fenton from Jefferson also got suspended for cursing in that same era.
  16. Agreed. Should be the game of the year in Florida HS football, unless the winner of that game faces undefeated STA in the championship game with a Geico birth on the line. FL team still has an outside chance at a NC if Mater Dei loses (which is doubtful) and if the FL team can defeat an undefeated GA champ in the Geico bowl.
  17. Yes, when a coach curses AT an official I agree. I've seen coaches suspended for cursing the air.
  18. SOS. Armwood played a bunch of 8*2, 7-3 type teams, and traveled to N. Gwinett.
  19. Another symptom that the world is going to hell in a handbasket. Bunch of pussies and pansies running the show creates chaos. Who cares if somebody curses occasionally? Especially to emphasize something gone completely awry or botched? There's a time and place. Inside of church? No. On the football field in the heat of the moment? Yes.
  20. that region is soft as cotton. If Gaither doesn't get through that I'd be shocked
  21. And I don't think this is a test to show how far Gaither can go in 6A. Armwood is a cut above almost every single team in 6A. Especially with Central getting their ass stomped last night by little Chaminade. I wouldn't expect Gaither to win this game, but it should not be indicative on how far they can go in 6A.
  22. As I said on BCP last week, I just hope Armwood doesn't destroy gaithers psyche before the playoffs start.
  23. I think plant has had Three or maybe four second round playoff losses since 2005. So that puts them in the mix. Not exactly sure. Every other year they at least advanced to the regional final.
