  1. Pahokee by 7 University by 3 Trinity Christian by 14 Cocoa by 3
  2. He wanted to practice before the championship.. If Pahokee needs a late score then the best way is to pass the ball.
  3. This will be the first Cocoa playoff game I've missed in 7 seasons. I'll be in St. Thomas. The game was scheduled to be Dec 2, but moved due to a college bowl game, to the 8th. Someone will have to do a play by play that I can read when I get back.
  4. Rules... https://wilson.engr.wisc.edu/rsfc/intro/johnson.shtml Question: How many players have to be on the line of scrimmage? Answer: For the offense, you must have 7 or more players on the line at the snap. If not, it's an illegal formation, 5 yard penalty. The defense, on the other hand, is not required to have any players on the line or to be in any particular formation.
  5. Looks like to me that Trenton got the crap beat out of them by Pahokee. I just don't see where they were a better team. Newberry went into OT. Could go either way. DId they travel 300 miles to play Pahokee too?
  6. Some state title games that are not in the pick ems. 4a Cocoa vs Bolles. 3a Chaminade vs TCA 2a University vs Champagnat 1a Pahokee vs Baker Who you got?
  7. And the twice missed game with Mainland.
  8. From another site. I didn't record what was said so we can go about voice verification and all that it was Rush that was speaking to Darrel but I heard it like: Rush Propst-- "We are very close to finalizing the schedule for next season. We have Cocoa replacing ISB and we are very close with a California team as a replacement for AHP. I'm glad that we are getting this out of the way early this year." Now that went out over the radio during the post game show after the game Friday night. I guess that we could search for context, in that he only meant the athletic dept. is still working on details etc., but it honestly sounded like a lock for Cocoa and very close with a Cali team. Rush does say "stuff" that maybe isn't exactly what he meant, sometimes though.
  9. Seems Colquitt maybe interested in playing Cocoa next year. That would be another top team to get Cocoa started if it is true. ;
  10. Cocoa fell on a muffed punt in the endzone to score the first points. BTW then scored twice to take back the lead on long pass plays. In the 3rd Quarter Judson ran it in from the 1 and a good xtra point tied it up 14-14. Cocoa then blocked a punt to set up a 27 yard FG to take back the lead making it 17 - 14. BTW then took it 80 yards with the help of 2 big pass interference calls against Cocoa to make it a 21 - 17. Crazy game going into the 4th quarter. Cocoa needed to put together a 78 yard drive to take the lead back with just under 5 minutes left to play. Judson threw for 19 and 28 yards and Hawkins had a hard fought run for about 25 yards or so, and a 1st down to set up the last Cocoa TD. King busted through the BTW D with a 10 yard run up the middle for the score. With just under 1:30 seconds left in the game Cocoa kicked it deep for a touch back. BTW went hurry up and missed qued a snap which Richardson had to fall on. An incomplete pass and then Cocoa sacked Richardson to stop any chance of a comeback.
  11. Wooo. Them guys have come along nicely. Hope you live out the dream and win States.
  12. I hope you are right. I'll be out of Florida during the playoffs.
  13. I just can't imagine anymore beef on the O-line that what they had tonight. Some monster guys on offense. BTW ran much better this year than last. I give credit to your linemen. QB had plenty of time in most plays unless Cocoa came off the corner. Thanks Zoe... nothing for your Dade teams to hang heads about. It was a first class game with some first class athletes out there.
  14. Bolles looking tough. I've said it for awhile now, 4A and 3A are no pushovers. Heck, 3a and 4a have put the hurt on most of the 8a teams they've played this year.
  15. Thanks Slick. I was one hell of a battle out there tonight. Had we not played Jones last week and Jones having a great passing game, Cocoa may not have had enough pass experience to stop BTW. It was a one of the better games for the Cocoa fans. The celebration after the game was well deserved. A lot of the fans and parents were on the field congratulating the players and coaches. The Coach that is the defensive passing coach is a long time friend on mine that was hired this year. I have to think he may have been the one missing coach for Cocoa that helped push them over the hill. He was very proud of his defense. They were still beat some but not dominated like in years past. Damn them boys from deep south Florida are some tough dudes. Big, big linemen. Shoot, looked like an NFL O-line.
  16. Was a stellar game. Both teams should be recognized for having awesome defenses. Lots of flags for both sides but both teams showed good sportsmanship. The lead was back and forth. Both Offenses were keeping the Defenses guessing the whole game. Cocoa had an early Punt Return called back because of hitting the kicker after being blocked from behind when he was pulling back. Could have been a no call but the kicker rolled around enough to pull the flag. Several calls could have been iffy for both sides but only one TD called back so it was cool. Decent Reffing I would say sense the ref's never seemed partial. BTW fans may see it the other way but they have to be honest and admit it was a fair game. In the end BTW looked tired the last 5 minutes of the game. I think the long bus ride finally got them. Had they played in Miami I have a feeling the score may have been 4 points in BTW's favor. Richardson is a special QB. When he isn't under a lot of pressure he is deadly accurate. Will enjoy watching him develop in the coming years. Surprise of the night was the 8th grader for Cocoa, #66. He was in the backfield all night. He is the sack leader on that aggressive defense. He had a blocked punt and a few sacks tonight and was disrupting plays. He will be a force in the future. He has 4 more years at the varsity level. The year the Cubs break the curse, so does Cocoa. It was one hell of a game.
  17. Hey Keem, I moved from Ft Walton to Rockledge to Cocoa. I am also a Rockledge Alum. 2 years at Cocoa High then trans to Rockledge to wrestle. We were runner up in 71 and the last team to beat Brandon when they went on their 30 year undefeated streak. The Rock is a good school. They are getting better little by little in football again.
  18. We appreciate the Scoreboard Josh. Thank you from all of us.
  19. You know Cocoa KeemD. They will run the Veer and a variation of the Wing/Option/Spread.
  20. What it will do is give a team like Miami Central a second chance. I would be willing to bet Miami Central would make it all the way back to the regional finals and a real possibility of playing in the Championship.
  21. I think the FHSAA is trying to fix the problem of having more than 2 great teams in a district and giving the other great teams a chance to be placed in the playoffs. Only the district champ gets a bid then you have to earn your way in if what you are saying is right about district winners getting in. Also I think they are going to put teams in by seed. If you have 2 really good teams from one district then they might not see each other until regional finals or even the championship game.
  22. It blows me away that Madison has to travel dang near from Tallahassee to Miami for a Regional game. It's a long way to Drive.
  23. I agree, They play together and remember who is who and when they get to High School they like to band back together. I don't bash anyone for transfers if it's all according to the rules, I just don't like when someone gets a little funky because one of the schools gets a lot of transfers to even the playing field and someone pops off with they're tired of getting their ass whooped so they load up on transfers. Of course they are tired of getting their ass whooped. Of course they want to even the playing field. And of course they followed the rules in getting transfers just like most other schools.
  24. Broward is spot on. BTW will come in to Cocoa opening with a passing attack. It has worked out for BTW in every game they have played. They run that 3 wide spread, a RB in the backfield that has hands and 2 on the other side for a total of 6 players with hands. It has kept Cocoa off balance in almost every game. I don't see them trying to run much on Cocoa because of how hard it is to defend against the pass. Cocoa will try to run on the Tornado's but Judson can get hot with the pass and they will use it to keep the defense off balance. If Cocoa does get down, it will be all on the coaches play calling to get the Tigers back. This will be a test to see if Cocoa can run on the Tornado defense. I'm sure WIlks has studied the Jackson and MC game tape as well has Harris watching lots of film on Cocoa. Jones ran BTW's playbook almost to the T last week against Cocoa. They are a better than average team and will have a lot coming back next year. I see Jones wrecking teams in 2017.
  25. Both are high caliber teams. Is this the year the Tigers finally win? This will be a great game because BTW has beaten Cocoa since the first meeting at Trez Powell in an OT thriller. I feel this will be one of them games like the 2011 or 2014 games but will a little edge going in Cocoa's favor this year. All respeck to BTW but my homeboy pick is Cocoa 35, BTW 21.
