  1. I think the FHSAA is trying to fix the problem of having more than 2 great teams in a district and giving the other great teams a chance to be placed in the playoffs. Only the district champ gets a bid then you have to earn your way in if what you are saying is right about district winners getting in. Also I think they are going to put teams in by seed. If you have 2 really good teams from one district then they might not see each other until regional finals or even the championship game.
  2. It blows me away that Madison has to travel dang near from Tallahassee to Miami for a Regional game. It's a long way to Drive.
  3. I agree, They play together and remember who is who and when they get to High School they like to band back together. I don't bash anyone for transfers if it's all according to the rules, I just don't like when someone gets a little funky because one of the schools gets a lot of transfers to even the playing field and someone pops off with they're tired of getting their ass whooped so they load up on transfers. Of course they are tired of getting their ass whooped. Of course they want to even the playing field. And of course they followed the rules in getting transfers just like most other schools.
  4. Broward is spot on. BTW will come in to Cocoa opening with a passing attack. It has worked out for BTW in every game they have played. They run that 3 wide spread, a RB in the backfield that has hands and 2 on the other side for a total of 6 players with hands. It has kept Cocoa off balance in almost every game. I don't see them trying to run much on Cocoa because of how hard it is to defend against the pass. Cocoa will try to run on the Tornado's but Judson can get hot with the pass and they will use it to keep the defense off balance. If Cocoa does get down, it will be all on the coaches play calling to get the Tigers back. This will be a test to see if Cocoa can run on the Tornado defense. I'm sure WIlks has studied the Jackson and MC game tape as well has Harris watching lots of film on Cocoa. Jones ran BTW's playbook almost to the T last week against Cocoa. They are a better than average team and will have a lot coming back next year. I see Jones wrecking teams in 2017.
  5. Both are high caliber teams. Is this the year the Tigers finally win? This will be a great game because BTW has beaten Cocoa since the first meeting at Trez Powell in an OT thriller. I feel this will be one of them games like the 2011 or 2014 games but will a little edge going in Cocoa's favor this year. All respeck to BTW but my homeboy pick is Cocoa 35, BTW 21.
  6. Chaminade-Madonna (8-3) at Melbourne Central Catholic (11-0) — 3A This should be a good game. I would have rated it 5 Turkeys... Unless Pinkos if totally wrong giving Chaminade just 3 points in a win over MCC. MCC seems to have gotten over the hurdle of losing in the 2nd round with their new HC. Let's see what they can do in round 3 now.
  7. Jacksonville is a huge city, and it isn't as compact as Miami, meaning more schools that are close to each other. Also South Florida develops athletes at an early age in league and Pop Warner ball and they groom the better athletes and keep them in sports until high school. North Florida doesn't seem to push the young athletes as hard in sports as they do toward academics. Central Florida is where you see a mix of both and on occasions good teams come out of the Central Florida area. Manatee, Armwood, DP, Palm Bay, Rockledge, Cocoa, and Lakeland are just a few off the top. There are many more. Most of these schools also push for academics. Just another opinion.
  8. Athletes came to Cocoa because they wanted to play for a good team and possibly get a scholarship in a sport they love to play. Cocoa doesn't need to recruit. Some good Athletes want to play for a winning team. I know many schools that have transfers in other sports that enrich their teams. Cocoa has a great football program. They develop athletes in every area of football. Tell me Booker T doesn't get transfers. Tell me Miami Central doesn't get transfers. Tell me most of the better football programs do not get transfers. Name one really good school that didn't get transfers this year. Just one.
  9. Cocoa doesn't get that many transfers. Less than the schools in the Dade area anyway. When I said they had 15 or what ever that number was, I was being sarcastic. We did get several this season and they came to Cocoa for the opportunity to advance to the college level on a scholarship. Cocoa is an example of players putting themselves into position to take another step up the ladder. Same as any of the privates and publics that put athlete's on college teams. Point is that Cocoa meets the requirements set by the FHSAA to play in class 4a. Heck, Cocoa fields less than 40 players every year. Most seasons it less than 35 where some 4a programs with transfers field 60 or 70 players. The FHSAA has thought this through. If you want to change it then you need to work for the FHSAA.

Sure will not argue against the BNU being the best or one of the top 3 for sure.
  11. I'll visit the Tx board some but I like it here, to be honest.

Very good school. Of course you have a big game this weekend against DePaul. SJR should win but DePaul has had some great teams in the last few years if I remember right.
  13. My Brevard teams all have challenges. All are under dogs. Viera - Plant MCC - Chaminade Of course Cocoa - BTW

Some will, and some will not. It's all good here either way. Most of us can talk National Football with the best. My guess is he reps St. Joe's Regional.
  15. I'll look at the TX board, you will know if I like it enough to make an account there.
  16. Very good writing. Worthy of local news print. Enjoyed reading your play by play.
  17. Thats not good. What happened to the National HS Board?
  18. CCC vs MCC 69 - 62 7th OT. Must be one heck of a game. Wonder if Jess having a heart attack. MCC wins in a nail biter.
  19. 16 Jr's will return as Sr's for GC if they all return.
  20. This will be repeater week for most teams. They will play the team they had to beat to be District champions in many games. Congratz to Columbia for the win over Lincoln.
