I thought Norland was playing Miami Palmetto
That likely is the case. I thought it might have been Archbishop McCarthy or something but surely did not look like Dillard in the clip I saw.

Dillard and Norland ended in a 14-14 tie
I saw some clips of that game...Are you sure that was Dillard playing Norland?
Dillard looked like a whole different team. Uniforms, players and all...

As hard as it is for us football junkies to fathom, some school administrators probably have much bigger problems now than their football program, ie budget shortfalls and teacher layoffs around the country. As a football community, we must look petty and entitled to those outside our world who are struggling to survive. ...bickering and backstabbing when things don't go our way.
True. But you can say that about all professions, forms of entertainment and aspects of life. Many communities may look entitled to the outside world. For me personally it would be hard to call FL public school coaches (HC and assistants) who are basically volunteers -entitled. As far as coaches go....being entitled usually does not mean working sometimes 8 hours a day, some working 10 months a year, sometimes being outdoors over 100 degrees- generally all for a little extra gas and meal money. In fact, many public school coaches may actually be closer to the "struggling to survive" category vs the "entitled" category of society. At least fiscally anyway.
Underpaid and underappreciated IMO.

I guess when it rains it pours. Sorry to hear of the woman's death.
Thanks. Did not know her, but from what I gather she may have actually been working outside when this happened.

Rain usually won't cancel football. It usually takes thundershowers... Unfortunately, a woman was struck and killed by lightning yesterday in Parkland. Mother Nature is always boss.

Not sure if any changes have been made with the weather which appears to be starting off to another rainy day.

I've heard through the grapevine that things are looking ugly for Flanagan right now
Same....
It can't get much uglier though at this point. Saw "Standford" Samuels was still listed as HC on Maxpreps page and roster looks about 2 years old. Seems like the entire infrastructure all the way up has lost appreciation for the 5 year run ...Well, they always have a elite baseball program to tend to I guess.
When one is making decisions while building or trying to maintain a program, one should never underestimate or under-appreciate ties to the community such as local youth leagues etc...
Is it fair to say when a mass amount of players and coaches leave a program with perhaps what they feel was bad taste or poor decisions they have the ability to severely pay back or punish in a subtle way (directly or indirectly)?

2020 LB Benjamin Peacock has transferred from Flanagan to Miramar.

Both teams bring back alot I believe
Miramar lost nearly 40 Seniors including their QB and 4* WR Dominick Watt who will be playing for Scott Frost at Nebraska...They had over 20 Juniors on the 2017 roster and will likely get a few in from surrounding schools. Miramar's best upcoming player in 4* 2020 S/DB Henry Gray transferred to Miami Central a couple Months ago. Miramar is probably going to need a few things to happen to catch up to the 2017 roster.

3* 2019 DE/TE Miles Dickens transferred from Stoneman Douglas to Deerfield Beach

No way, man. Not going there. Deerfield and Boyd Anderson have broken my heart too many times. I really thought Cypress Bay with Guandolo was going to be the next great public program, but alas..
Trying to be optimistic for the Bucks and state the positives..Just saying that public school speaking they consistently are pretty loaded.

Very cute but i doubt anyone had trouble figuring out who i was referring to
Do you remember you used to always refer to Sanford as Stanford?

Orange City University?
The 8A team who keeps going 8-2 every year? Are we talking same school or is that not Orlando University?
Well Columbia you are the guy that called Sanford Seminole "Stanford Seminole" for a couple years.

I'm at the point of I'll believe it when I see it
Deerfield always talented but I've lost faith in them being the team i think can go on to win a title
But you gotta give them at least a little credit for continuing to keep the rosters stacked as a public school in Broward. No public school has been doing it consistently as long as DFB of late in Broward.

Flanagan, Hallandale, Coconut Creek and Monarch all tanked after a head coach left...not built to last. So many of these programs are in such a fragile state because they don't have the winning tradition to carry them through times of transition. The only school that has that is St Thomas. I think you could put Lady Gaga in charge and they would still win. And that is the sign of a great program.
Well although Deerfield Beach has struggled in the post-season they continue to have be talent loaded on a consistent basis. That is a public school that keeps a lot of talent home and even pulls in talent for several years now. With another loaded roster this year they are so overdue.
Could this finally be the year for the Bucks?

Yeah. I just want to know if they have the goods or are they gonna get their ass handed to them
A good sign with Coconut Creek thus far is they appear to be keeping their kids home this year. Seems like only a couple have transferred out and they have a lot of 2018s returning. Coconut will not be at 2015 form, but I think they could be a worthy first round type 5A team in most parts of the state. Will likely struggle to make the playoffs in a tough district.

I think you told me before but I'll ask here since it's relevant to this conversation
Which areas of broward county has the best talent pool these days?
It's spread out but surely not Fort Lauderdale. I would say the West Hallandale, West Park, Hollywood, Miramar and Pembroke Pines area which is the South/Southwest part of Broward is the most talent rich area but like ZoeBoy said it is spread out all over. Deerfield Beach, Plantation and Pompano obviously are loaded and little Coconut Creek produces some players. West Fort Lauderdale has some pockets as well but overall per capita Fort Lauderale is not producing what it used to from the 80s and 90s.
For whatever reason Fort Lauderdale is still a broad word though. University School and Archbishop McCarthy is often referred to as located in "Fort Lauderdale" when they both are way out west in Southwest Ranches (neighboring Cooper City)

University School is in central Davie :

Broward publics were stacked with good teams and talent in 2015.
Flanagan, Hallandale, Deerfield Beach, and Coconut Creek's graduating 2016 class alone probably produced more D1 talent then all Broward publics combined over the last two years(2017, 2018).
Monarch 4 WR Core from the 2015 class was probably one of if not the best WR Core from Broward ever. Calvin Ridley 2016 (Alabama), Riley Ridley 2017 ( Georgia), Jerry Jeudy 2018 (Alabama), Shawn Burgess-Becker (Alabama ).
I have stated my concern for 2015 being a significantly stronger year for Broward publics then what we are seeing these days. I hope things can change slightly and it just takes a few great coaches willing to go to publics that may right the public ship again.

So which areas were they getting those players back in the 80s and 90s?
I believe Dillard's players back in the 80s and 90 were mostly homegrown in that zone.
Things change I guess. Dillard was a longstanding public power then as was Ely.

Ok Deerfield Beach consistent playoff team . Coaching staff sucks ass I agree .. Miramar , gotta fight Carol City and some what Norland and some privates But y’all really do think the reason why Dillard mainly not winning cause the “PRIVATES” are taking all their players allegedly... I would bet y’all any money that if you take the players that are in those private teams back to there “home schools “ those public school still probably wouldn’t win cause all those players don’t live in FT lauderdale.. They would be spread out.. For example look at the Ft lauderdale Hurricanes program . Half the team was from Dade and Pembroke Pines / Miramar area... Since you want to talk about consistents and I don’t live in Broward , before the privates blew up why Broward teams wasn’t winning consistently?
This concept that Fort Lauderdale and Dillard is some mecca of football in Broward is archaic. True historically but far from the truth in this century. Like it or not, most of the talent is the youth leagues in Broward is South/Southwest and spread out even to North Broward more so then what Fort Lauderdale produces now. Back in the 80s and 90s it was a different story as there was no one living out west and there were no youth leagues out West. Fort Lauderdale was nearly half the population of Broward County then.
By the way that Fort Laudedale Hurricanes team probaby had as many kids from Davie as Fort Lauderdale on it. That team was basically a PPO team with kids from Pines/Miramar and Dade like you said.

Was Dillard getting players from outside the area when they were successful?
If so what areas was the talent coming from
Not back in the day... but of late?
Absolutely! Most of Dillard top players last year were inbound transfers. Dillard has some in house talent but nothing like back in the day.
