Saw the news and listened to what was left of the 4th quarter on Artie's feed. Yea Eagles just owned this one.
-
Oh yea PF did beat Pensacola, the score is just entered wrong on the Panhandle scoreboards on the main site here.
-
How pine Forrest looking?
Pensacola stops Pine Forest 33-12. Beyond that I know nothing about Escambia team

Hello everyone, Yourbasement here with a brand new post series for the Northwest Florida, covering all things from our football programs in Okaloosa.
Niceville Eagles defeat Lincoln Trojans, 20-30.
I had the radio feed going and heard great things, the Trojans had an interception in the 3rd quarter, but I don't think they converted, I was on and off hearing the radio feed. Heard great things about the program, and my former coworker said that the team is to form and they are a force out there on the field.
Choctaw Indians lose a heart breaker to Gulf Breeze Dolphins. 29-38.
Choctaw was supposed to have an easy win tonight, but it looks like a different outcome came about with Gulf Breeze winning by 38. I applaud how awesome Choctaw's coach Greg Thomas has done, although I heard from the radio feed that they lost seniors and some defense. I'll still be on the lookout for this team though.
Pace Patriots defeat the Fort Walton Beach Vikings. 35-7.
Pace has been on and off, and Fort Walton is still in the rebuilding process with a brand new coach. The Fort Walton team is young, but they have plenty of room for growth.
Navarre Raiders defeat Pensacola Catholic Crusaders. 41-13.
Crestview Bulldogs blowout Northview Chiefs. 0-70
Yes folks, it was a blowout. Keep in mind Crestview is 6A while Northview is 1A. So the differences are there, and that's all I'll say. I heard the score on the radio and about coughed up my water out of shock.
Baker Gators stop Holmes County. 14-30
Baker has been on the uprising, Matt Brunson is the man to thank for turning Baker into a contender. Will they make it to the state championship? We will see! A good win for them though over Holmes County.

Tommy Johnson was fired as FWB football coach/AD.
FWB posted a 2-18 record the two years he was there... it'll definitely change some things.
-
Pine Forest should be very good. They have a lot of weapons and a big Oline. Starts with 2018 5 star WR/DB Jacob Copeland. QB was pensacola area offensive player of the year. Wiggins, Gardner, Lewis are FAST and elusive.
I would've said Navarre is 2nd best until I saw their spring game. Varsity 7-7 tie vs. Gulf Breeze. Navarre's star running back didn't play and a couple of other good players but Gulf Breeze had even more top players out. Navarre lost a ton of talent that they just can't replace. Sandle, Leggett, Miller, Moyer, Williams, Klosinski, Capenia, Short, Moffo and a few more were very good.
Niceville will probably be 2nd or 3rd best in panhandle 6a.
Those three panhandle 6a teams are the only ones I can see giving Armwood a game. And without a doubt Pine Forest has the best chance.
Escambia = no
Booker T Washington(P'cola) = no
Tate = no
Pace = no
Gulf Breeze = no
Milton = no
Choctawhatchee = no
Fort Walton Beach = no
Crestview = no
Will keep an eye out for Pine Forest, being from Okaloosa, I know nothing about Escambia teams.
Dang, didn't know Navarre lost a bunch of guys.
-
Think you all can move this to the main board? Lol
haha I went off topic since this is in Washington state, but it is football.
-
Dangggg thats whats up! Happy wishes man thats awesome
-
From what I normally see Navarre is usually not even best panhandle team so hard for me to see them as a true threat so that probley means no one from panhandle stops Armwood so unfortently probley going to be Armwood vs central for like 100th straight year lol
It's why I said "maybe" lol
I don't think anyone is gonna stop Armwood this year from the panhandle.
-
Are any teams supposed to be a legitimate threat to Armwood?
Choctaw - no
Niceville - no
Navarre - maybe
-
Choctaw lost a few good players, I think they're rebuilding. The open enrollment law may hurt Fort Walton even more since FWB has fallen under and kids who weren't able to bypass the transfer requirement can now transfer freely to Choctaw or Niceville or Baker or even Navarre if they want to make the drive.
Niceville flopped against Tate last year, which was kinda odd. But they lost a few great commits like Eli Stove and Romeo Finley, not sure who is upcoming on the school now. I gotta ask my coworker who goes to Niceville how they look this year.
Navarre was supposed to make it to regionals and above, but it came crashing down. Most guys should be returning so I don't know if they'll be undefeated, but they will make a splash.
-
Here in the panhandle for my county, Niceville is the most hated school since they win. Not just from Crestview, but other schools hate them too. That's just the price of being good though.

http://www.seattletimes.com/sports/high-school/bellevue-football-banned-from-postseason-for-4-years/
Recruiting scandal ahoy, I read the independent report and apparently administration high up didn't even do anything about Bellevue. As well as coaches falsifying player's addresses to remain eligible etc.
Curious on what you guys/girls think of this?
-
Basketball is long over, but coach Greg Watson who left to take an Alabama coaching job has made his way back to coach the boys. Watson posted a district title and 2 back to back elite 8 appearances in his time at Crestview, I'm excited to see what he will do for Crestview again!
On the girls front, Steve Williams from Paxton brings state championship and final four experience.
Two amazing coaches, this should put boys back into contention after having an average season, while girls will come up!

Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arty is an awesome guy, right now it's baseball season.

Grats! Knew the Panthers were gonna go far this season! Hats up to them for all the hard work.
-
Well it's over!
56-54 Largo takes over. That's always to hardest, to lose by one possession. I can imagine that was a great game all around, but Largo wins and Pensacola goes home. Dillard remains my 6A pick for championship.
Lincoln loses by 6 against St. Petersburg 71-65. Agh it's tough, they were my favorite after Bartow is out. To keep the picks going, I'll go for Blanche Ely to make a back to back repeat.
-
@BASEMENT you mean 6A but I agree with everything your saying the way I see it by Saturday evening your 6A champs should be the MIGHTY DILLARD PANTHERS ...(SMILES) That feels so good to say after the year in football we had. See @broward being a panther isn't so bad after all lol. in my opinion dillard is the best basketball team in SOUTH FLORIDA and if them and montervade academy played again I would like that game to go down to the wire with it going either way.
Whoops haha I meant Dillard 6A.
-
Indeed Blanche has played a few tournaments and went against out of state schools, which gives them prep to go against anything. Lincoln and Melbourne along with St. Petersburg (who played 1 tournament with out of state schools) are all playing close by schools. Although, Leon is always a tough rivalry for Lincoln no matter the sport.
Out of it all, I think Lincoln has a decent shot at state, Blanche will come back although I could be wrong and the sleeper Melbourne proves me wrong. Or St. Petersburg beats Lincoln, but I do not know anything about St. Petersburg which is why I am quick to pick a local favorite... (well two hours away, but I'm moving to Tallahassee for school so I will try to get to some of Lincoln's games)
Dillard is the pick for 7A. While I am going against a local favorite, Pensacola just hasn't proven to me at least they are a contender.
-
Well it's here, and WOW I like how close I get with these point spreads.
7A.
Lincoln comes out on top 57-54, and folks if you look at my prediction, I was guessing a 3 pt difference originally! Prediction: 52-49. Actual Score: 57-54
Bartow loses to Melbourne in overtime 58-55, with Bartow being knocked out, my follow up pick is Lincoln to take the crown... however, Blanche Ely remains and they are a threat for a back to back championship.
PREDICTION: Lincoln beats St. Petersburg by 10, 66-56.
6A
Pensacola gets a 6pt edge after overtime against Gainesville, 45-39. I figured it was a good game and it definitely looked like a good game.
Predictions: Pensacola beats Largo by 7 pts. 47-40.
-
They came and they conquered.
7A.
Lincoln beats Leon in a close bout at 57-52. Good crosstown rivalry. And the Trojans advance to the semifinals where they will face Creekside for a chance to the final 4! Lincoln beats Creekside 52-49.
Bartow moves passed Freedom 56-52. Another close game, but I still have my hopes they will outshoot Melbourne. Bartow beats Melbourne 44-40.
6A
So I told you folks Pensacola would edge Choctaw, but not by the this amount. Pensacola beats Choctaw in 27 point blowout and moves on. Wow, I think Pensacola has a chance for state. They face Gainesville up next. Im going with Pensacola because they played good when they fought Crestview, but I cannot comment on Gainesville style of play. However, Im thinking a cool 10 pts with Pensacola edgeing again. 67-57.
-
So the games were played.
7A.
Niceville losses to a Leon 79-70. Like I mentioned, it's a game that can go either way, but Niceville played hard and kept it close to 9 pts in the end. Leon advances in the end though.
Navarre losses in a 23 point game. Not surprised here, Lincoln is a consistent playoff team. A good season from Navarre though.
In the bottom, Blanche Ely comes out from 57-52. I would have gone to this game if I was in the south, a close one at that however Blanche pulls ahead and moves on.
Bartow wins by 10 over Sickles. and I should have edited, is my pick for State Championship of 7A. Bartow moves on.
Moving into round 2, sweet 16. Lincoln takes it away from Leon and heads to regionals. I'm suspecting a 20 pt high game with Lincoln sealing the win. 44-21 Lincoln.
6A
So wow a 36 point blowout, I figured Fort Walton would edge it, but did not see this coming. Pensacola moves on.
Choctaw beats Pine Forest in 11. Didn't see it, but I suspected they played well.
Choctaw vs Pensacola. This will be a good game to see, both teams are great and again will go either way. Despite going against what I'm rooting for, I think Pensacola edges Choctaw by 4 in a close battle. 67-63 Pensacola.
I cannot comment on other parts of the bracket, but my pick in 6A is Dillard to take it all.
-
Nice review bro i hope you guys do well in your first playoff game. im just excited to see what my panthers do this second season there red hot won 15 games in a row record on the season 23-5 swept there district played 6 teams 2 or more times and won all 6 rematches
but it dont stop here letssss goooo panthers.!!!
Crestview is out, I should have added haha. But, Choctaw, Niceville, and Fort Walton are in so as a fellow county man I root for those teams to play a splash in the playoffs. Kind of funny since Niceville and Crestview are rivals in every sport, but I saw a few Niceville folks a couple years ago during Crestview's first playoff run.
Yea, I think you guys have a chance to take 6A. Gainesville is the only threat from north Florida since they seem to make it every year.
Who do you root for other than your HS?

As S1nglewing said thats who I root for, anyone locally.
Having any team go down south to play in the big games is amazing.
