  1. The solution has to be a way to determine the results on the field. With earning points based on another team winning or losing is the problem. To many factors play into a team winning or losing. Injuries, Transfers, Suspensions, etc. Did Fort White play the same Union County that Hawthorne played with their RB out for one of the games? Did Vanguard and Columbia play the same Buchholz with their QB being out? Did South Sumter turn out to be the South Sumter teams thought they scheduled??? I'm with playing a shorter schedule and allowing more teams in. Maybe split up the regions evenly, have a regional tourney to determine top 4 in region. Then have committee seed with final 16 and play it out. For bigger classes maybe have 5 games or so then force district playoff. Best team in district would make it out. Then seed that final 16. Kind of like we do in basketball, baseball, all the other sports. We never question who is in and out in basketball because the results are handled on the court. I do understand football is a different animal but it may work better.

  2. The goal was to get the best teams in. I dont think that will be accomplished this year. Call me bitter now that my team may be left out. But this week I see a team,in same class another region, we had running clock against has a good chance of getting in. Thats why Im hurt....lol....

We knew going into the season that 2 teams on our schedule would probably be category 4. We ended up with 7. We scheduled 3 playoff teams with 2 ended up being cat 2 and one a cat 4(game cancelled irma) ... Idk how you can guess how good other teams are going to schedule or be. Few of the teams fell victim to the transfer bug. We are probably gonna finish 7-2 with a overtime loss and a tough lost in last 20 seconds.

Whats the true solution? Since we got away with districts. Why not do away with regions?? Pick the best 16.

    1A Region 4

Fhsaa 1. Pahokee 2. Wildwood 3. Frostproof 4. Cresent City

Laz  1. Pahokee 2. Williston 3. Hawthorne 4. Cresent City

Max Preps 1. Pahokee 2. Williston 3. Frostproof 4. Hawthorne

thoughts Wildwood is way over ranked by FHSAA points because they have a weak schedule and they are going to keep a deserving team out.  If Pahokee doesn't win one of the last 3 this region could become trash.

    My thoughts

    1. Pahokee 2. Williston 3. Hawthorne/Frostproof winner 4. Hawthorne/Frostproof  loser or Cresent City

Its unfortunate for Williston. My opinion if you are one of the borderline 1A schools. Your best bet might be to move up with this point system. Williston will play a 3A/4A schedule and all teams in this region, except Pahokee, will play a true 1A schedule. Most 1A schools feel Williston has the potential to be a Madison so they are going to have to schedule tough.

I wouldn't consider it a causality. If Pahokee loses all 3, then they don't deserve to be in, simple as that. Coaches picked the schedules. You schedules games with the mindset of winning. So get out there and do it.

You are right.. If you schedule the games then its your fault if you do not win the games... But this point system was suppose to reward teams for taking shots at better teams.... But if you look at the quality of teams that Pahokee scheduled against , lets say, the teams that wildwood scheduled... Pahokee should be a lock in the playoffs over them..

I was looking at Dixie County vs Madison County schedule and points. There is no way they should be this close if you are suppose to be rewarded for scheduling tough.pp.thumb.png.2a914604e283365beed07fc9560c596a.png

They play Seminole Ridge 7-1, Cocoa 6-0 and Glades Central 4-2 to end the season.  If the lose all 3 they will end with around 34 points and probably miss the playoffs.  If they lose to Seminole Ridge and Cocoa and beat Glades Central they will finish around 36-37 points and be on the bubble.  I don't think they lose al 3 but you have to admit there is a possibility.

Here is the last updated ones and I don't feel like doing it for Friday's results.

    39.25 Pahokee
    38 Wildwood
    37.67 Frostproof
    37.2 Crescent City
    36.6 Hawthorne
    34.17 Williston

I think that as long as they dont lose to glades central they will be fine.... Hawthorne and frostproof play this friday and crescent city and wildwood suppose to play the following tuesday.  So thats 2 other loses in the top 5 of the region... But you are right.   If they do lose all 3 they may be out.

How does a team simply cancel a game? I'm sure these are signed contracts with consequences.

Do you have any info on a reason why?

Like i said its a rumor.. But the game is a reschedule from Irma. So it was changed to late in the season and now might be a total cancellation. So its not just one team trying to cancel but both teams agreeing to cancel.

  7. Im hearing rumors of 2 teams that are at the top of their region. May cancel their head2head game. Think its smart for one of them to try and cancel but not so for the other. This may become another issue with point system. If two teams are both playoff bound late in season... May do more harm than good to play that game.

I was at that game Hawthorne had them beat all day they just beat ther selfs last two year Hawthorne has gave them all they could handle. Great win over Chiefland tonight for the hornets.

Well if you were there you seen we handled them.. But we still looking for a few of them "holding" calls on film... No excuse because it should of been running clock at the half... But the refs made 2nd half pretty tough for us...lol

I agree but he wasn't going to beat us by his self. Knew coming in he would carry the load for them didn't find out till game time he was hurt the qb was running for his life all night and we probly had are best passing game of the season Union was exposed by hawthorne last  week there Secondary is suspect.

Im a Hawthorne guy.... We let them off the hook.... Made to many mistakes... 2 touchdowns dropped, 2 fumbles in redzone, crucial roughing the punter, let them recover onside kick... To many mistakes!!!

I figured yall would handle Union even with Strong playing... Just saying it made it a little easier..

Some teams scheduled stupid, some scheduled smart!   Feel bad for the 1a-4a teams with no district that did that.   Playing really bad teams and going undefeated isn't what you want to do either.  But you can play decent teams that will get you points that you have a chance at beating.

You also got to hope the teams that you scheduled did so smartly.  What sucks are the teams that thought they were scheduling a decent team then over the summer had players transfers out... Like we scheduled holy trinity but heard they lost some key pieces, thought they we going to be decent, and they are sitting at 0-4. So Irma causing cancel probably helped us out.

My answer and solution is simply to not hold the athletes hostage.  Whey you are 18 you are legally a adult.  You can be prosecuted as a adult but you can't play basketball and football as a career.

Free the athletes from the NCAA and the opportunities burden and excuses are on the individuals.

I'm not buying an excuse for these crimes.  What happens if these athletes were to allowed , to free try out for the NFL , were still broke failed and did the same crime?  Is that acceptable?

Not once have I excused the crime. I specifically said "this doesn't excuse any person for committing a crime and should be punished for the crime." I believe a lot of these crimes MAY NOT happen if the kids AND FAMILIES are compensated better. How about don't pay for any of their schooling. Make it a requirement to be a student at the school you wish to attend and give them $100K.  Let them pay for their own schooling.

  12. Ever seen fair market calculation for a college football player. The cost for attending UF in-state is about 20K and out-of-state is about 40K. Like I said this doesn't excuse any person for committing a crime and should be punished for the crime. And this situation a UF seems more for greed than need. But I just feel a lot of these crimes that involve student athlete and money may be avoided with more compensation.  The coaches and athletic directors make millions because of these kids. Kids and their parents shouldn't have to struggle. So $600 a month may be enough for the student, but what if his/her parents are struggling to survive. Capture.PNG.8f1e70344ceff5ebafe8ff0b46cd59ec.PNG

Actually only district champs are guaranteed playoff spots so both may miss playoffs but odds are if north Marion loses then their season finished

Ok. I was just trying to search up  information on how playoffs are handled for 5A-8A. So district champs are in and points are determined by region for other spots like all of spots for 1A-4A?

There given a free education and chance to play college ball what else are they owed if you need extra money go out get a job like the rest nothing is owed to them.

Also their daily schedules are so full because of football. How many hours in a week would they be able to work anyway? Every kid situation is different. Some need more than others. Some need to help their homes. But due to NCAA rules they are not allowed to do things that other students, who may also get a free education, are able to do. Many students dont qualify for pell grant. These kids arent given a chance to play, they have earned the chance to play college ball.

  15. Maybe if NCAA find a way to give these kids spending money, things like this might not happen. Wrong is wrong. Im not giving them a pass. But this situation, the situation at Ohio State, even Reggie Bush situation may not occure if these kids are given more than just tuition and books.  It just come out Ohio state net worth is $1.5 bil, Florida net is $682 mil. Pretty sure they could come up with some kind of profit share and distribution to all fbs players.

  16. Ok... Just to tell you what happened to us. Other team was punting. 4th and 12. Kid ran on right before the snap. Making it inside the numbers before the snap. Making us have 12 on the field. Ref threw flag but didnt stop play. Let returner return ball.

We were told. The down will be replayed with a 15 yard penalty. Which resulted in a first down. They called it illegal participation not illegal substitution.

Now in your situation. If 12 were on the field. I believe ref should have blown dead at snap and given defense a 5 yard penalty. Which would have resulted in a first down.
