  1. 1. Why have districts if you are not mandated to play against all your district rivals? 2. Why not just have regions instead with a mandate that a team must play a minimum of say, 5 teams in your region? 3. Since the district championship is going to be determined by a game between the two highest ranked teams based on some kind of power ranking, it's imperative that the formula to come up with the ranking makes sense from a statistical standpoint, and that it's made public to ensure that there is no controversy over the district winner. 4. I know it's early yet, and nothing has been finalized, but I can't help but think that this is only going to further complicate the entire process surrounding how high school football is administered in the state and is likely to lead to many controversial results.
  2. It is amazing that back then you were to make and win a state title without playing against one Dade or Broward county team. How the balance of power has shifted!
  3. Looks pretty good. I would probably flip Norland over Columbus, but we will see how both perform against stiff competition this week. 12-15 you could argue about which team belongs were, but I am fine with where you have them. South Broward is undefeated, but has played only very weak competition, so I could not put them in the top 15. Coconut Creek may belong higher just based on how
  4. A dozen years ago or so, FCP was one of the area's best. Today, they are a shell of their former selves.
  5. No, I think Columbus is a slight favorite. But I believe any of: Sanford, Lake Mary, Olympia, Apopka, Palm Beach Central, and possibly Sumner and/or Mandarin would give Columbus a close game by the time the semis and final roll around. I see this Columbus team as being about the same as last year's in terms of quality, albeit with slightly different strengths and weaknesses. Last year, Both Ocoee and Apopka gave Columbus all it could handle in the semis and final. For the life of me, I don't see why this year will be any different.
  6. That's a brutal assessment that will end up being very wrong. If we can arrange to, I will take that bet every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Columbus may or may not win the 4M title. But i would be very, very surprised if they were to do so by more than 17 and that's an absolute outer limit.
  7. Glad it will be played. Dillard should rest some of its starters for the STA game. I can't imagine BA giving you a whole lot of trouble.
  8. Correct. It's a Miami thing.
  9. I don't believe you can conclude that Lakeland would have beaten STA. Would you have a decent chance? The answer is probably yes? To go beyond that is a big stretch.
  10. The opponent is probably yet to be determined. The GMAC is a playoff for Dade schools bragging rights. However, I am not sure how the initial seeding is determined and if has already determined which I suspect is not the case. So, all schools that are participating should have some TBD games on their schedule at this time.
  11. Columbus will have a hard time winning against any Orlando area team they face. I would make them the slight favorite at this stage, but I think there are four or five teams here that would take them to the wire. I will let the Dade fans run their mouths. Last year they barely won in overtime in a game Apopka should have won with by a field goal in the dying seconds. And least they claim the Apopka game was a fluke, Ocoee took them to the wire in their semifinal game before Columbus squeaked into the finals. I don't think that this year's Columbus is much better than last years, and Orange/Seminole football has not fallen off this year.
  12. We are all sinners and worthy of divine forgiveness if we wish to get by the pearly gates
  13. We agree to disagree and I will end it there. I am 100% confident that Jones would beat both TC and Jesuit if they lined up tomorrow.
  14. If you go and look at the film or even the game stats of the Treasure Coast vs Seminole they tell a different story. There were four occasions when Seminole got into the red zone, including a second and goal from the one, but somehow failed to get a single point. I believe the long lightening delay and poor field conditions contributed to Seminole's loss. However, at the end of the day, the fault lies solely with them. Yes, TC's schedule has been brutal, but Orlando Jones's has been equally brutal. I don't see you giving them any love. Cocoa beat them by less than a field goal and they manhandled Jesuit in the KOC game.
  15. And, looking on at Nolebull's list, Jesuit does not belong in a top 25, and Treasure Coast either, especially ranking them at 19 is a joke. But like I said, the bottom of the top 25 is difficult as there are many teams a case could be made for.
  16. He's ranking MNW based on his perception of their potential. I don't think they should be top 25, but I also don't think Dillard should either, nor Treasure Coast for that matter. At the bottom end of the top 25, there are a number of teams one could make a case for ...
  17. 3-1 Booker T Washington vs 5-0 Norland (Thursday) - The Vikings prep for their big showdown. 4-1 Cocoa vs 5-1 Seminole - Cocoa beats Seminole in a game that's closer than one would think. 3-1 Carrollwood Day vs 4-1 Florida High - Very difficult game to pick. If I trip up, this would be the one. 4-1 Edison vs 5-1 Miami Palmetto - Wins a very close game. 3-2 Jesuit vs 5-0 Bishop Verot - BV proves they are for real 6-0 Manatee vs 3-2 Venice - Venice wins again in a very close game. 5-1 South Sumter vs 5-1 Zephyrhills - Another close game 3-2 Western vs 3-1 American Heritage Plantation - Patriots are a level above 5-0 Benjamin vs 5-0 Palm Beach Central - The bigger school wins a very close game. 6-0 Titusville vs 5-1 Calvary Christian (Ft Lauderdale) - Good start gets better Picks bold and underscored
  18. I am sorry your game got cancelled for stupid behavior by some of the fans. I know it's frustrating and it also affects your playoff prospects. I don't like playing the generational blame game, because the truth is, young people, from all generations, have tended to do stupid things. Blame it on a lack of experience or maturity. You only tend to develop perspective after you are over 30.
  19. I know. But I don't have it in me to be a Benedict Arnold.
  20. Man, if you had not included the Apopka game in the list, I would be one point off the leaders! Please, please, whatever you do, don't include the Apopka vs Olympia game in your list.
  21. I know Sumner is new. I was responding to the fact that Sumner had never made a state semifinal and that the only new Tampa school that had was Steinbrenner in 2019. I did not realize that Steinbrenner was 10 years old back then.
  22. After checking, I see it had been open for exactly 10 years in 2019. When you get old, time certainly travels fast. So, the answer is that there is no recent Tampa school that has reached a semifinal in a four year window.
  23. I think, but am not sure, that the school had been open less than 5 years at the time. You can correct me if I am wrong. At the very most, I am pretty sure it was less than 10 years old.
  24. Made a state semifinal game in 2019. They travelled to Apopka, but were not talented enough that year to give us a solid game.
