  1. Check this out on twitter Richard Burton‏ @FLFBRecords lots of old picks and neat facts on past championship teams.
  2. Hey if they are good enough but this is her first playing varsity and she is 2 on the depth chart. They had 70 players on the roster last year and she is the pushing the starter. Would a 5'2" boy with equal experience and athletic ability even be let on the field? That wide stance and wind up throwing motion is going to get her killed. The coach needs to think about her safety.
  3. Okay I had only read the article at first, I just went back and watched the video. This is a joke right?
  4. The article says she is second string at 5'2" with a 30 yard deep ball. Obviously winning isn't much of a priority in Hollywood Hills.
  5. Hollywood Hills will nor be very good this year.
  6. Yall be careful in Tallahassee it's a dangerous place. All them politicians trying to rob you blind.
  7. I just don't think it is going to work as intended in the first couple of years. Look at Pahokee's schedule I don't think they play any 1A schools but if they if they go 6-4 do they even make the playoffs. We know they might be the best 1A team again but by choosing to play a tough schedule they may end up being hurt.
  8. Keem you are absolutely right that is why I brought up Pahokee, I just think there may be ridiculous mismatches in the first playoff round. Columbia it will definitely take a couple of years to work out the kinks I hope it is worth it.
  9. I think scheduling is going to be more important than how good a team really is. A team in 1A that was able to schedule other 1A teams to play is going to have an advantage over teams that had to schedule up in class. I realize Pahokee is one team that has to play bigger schools on a regular basis and they are definitely successful but I think you are going to see some good teams left at home for playing tougher schedules and some weak teams getting in. We may see some 60+ point spreads in the first round. If I was a 4A coach I would have tried to schedule 1A schools that were first round losers you get the points for playing a playoff team yet take little to no risk.
  10. The new playoff format is going to be a colossal failure.
  11. Is the rule that they cant transfer after the first day of practice or after the first day of school, I have heard both. It just seems like a player could go to practice and find a bunch of transfers may have taken any chance he has to play. I would think they would give them a chance to assess their situation.
  12. Where do Destin kids go to school now? I thought they went to South Walton, I didn't realize Destin was in Okaloosa County.
  13. Their first game should be against Wewahitchka.
  14. Good luck to all the players and coaches headed out there today in this oppressive heat. Let's pray for safety for all and that everyone players and coaches alike end this season as better men than they entered it. Good luck to everyone.
  15. I don't think anyone could rule out recruiting kids from IMG. Maybe I should have said "rhule out". It would simply be irresponsible to leave that big of a talent pool untouched.
  16. Saw a tweet from Tom Herman at Texas that kids don't need to go to IMG for him to find them. Apparently IMG must have pissed them off in the Lone Star state.
  17. How does playing out of state teams affect your SOS for playoffs?
  18. Luckily my son plays for a program with an active booster club and lots of community support but I see a lot of other programs that have next to nothing. The newer equipment is so much better from a safety aspect.
  19. Hey it's that time of year again "fundraising season". I just wanted to encourage everyone to financially support your local high school football team if you have the means. Football is the most expensive of the sports and although it brings in the most money most schools split the football gate among all of the sports. Many schools are not very good at raising money and the players suffer when it comes to equipment, travel, food and numerous other things. I know money can be tight so if you can volunteer time that is always a big help. Football is all that is keeping many kids on the straight and narrow. Some schools have strong booster programs and do good job reaching out to the community but there are others that you will have reach out to the schools. Some schools football programs are able to raise money just for football so contact the football coach rather than the front office. Let's help these kids out.
  20. There is just a ridiculous amount of talent in Dade County. Most states only dream of having the players in that one county. What a blessing for folks down there to get to see those match-ups.
  21. It really depends on the coach and what he is trying to accomplish. A coach whose team is in need of a win to get the confidence up will definitely put more into a KOC. Many coaches use the game strictly to get some reps in for their starters, some experience for backups and to work on situational substitutions etc. I try not to read too much into spring or KOC but ultimately wins always look good and if you have a chance late to beat some powerhouse by playing your starters against their backups then go for it.
  22. Yeah I knew they had been good for a long time. They would probably make the short list of greatest programs in state history.
  23. In the 80s and 90s Merritt Island had some great teams.
