I posted it so you could see they were talking trash.  Not much respect.  Also going to Bahamas pretty cool.  Must be nice to have that much money to do all that.

Yeah they said in there that we were clearly tired however that is the opposite of what actually happened, I doubt that team from Colorado could have played another 12 minutes, they were sucking for air even after the game.

OC University looked like a JV team. I watched the stream. They did get better as the game went on, but that is a travesty to lose to some Colorado team like that. I was shaking my head the whole time. 8A school can't field a team to beat one of these clown Colorado teams? Damn.

I knew University would be bad just by Columbine picking them. These Colorado teams do their homework and only pick teams they think they can beat. OC University won't make the playoffs this year. Might only win 2 games

Never have I said we would be the team we had previous years. We are rebuilding this year as I stated in the original post. But to say we looked like a JV team is rather insulting, true we missed some tackles but we played hard and made them earn every point except for the 53 yarder in the second half.

  3. Played a solid first half, was tied 7-7. Had some poor tackling and that lead to 2 scores in the 3rd qtr. We never quit and gave them all they could handle. Still trying to find our identity and having to reload on both sides of the ball, 8 of 11 defensive starters were roll guys or JV guys last year. I knew we would be competitive, however the officials really need to understand pass interference calls. Had multiple plays where we had guys go up and were getting pulled on and face guarded and no flags. Otherwise a great event from KSA, glad we played this game.

I've seen you play quite a bit.  I'm an offensive guy so I will only speak on that side of the ball.  In the last two years you have lost Mickens, Lingard, Braden, Moss, Kenis, and Coleman to graduation.  Everyone loses people but that's some pretty talented guys to replace.  Last year offensively Lingard was most of the offense.  Two years ago you had a special group of talent on that side of the ball.  Like you said next guy up but from an outside perspective having no close connection to the program I have no idea who that is.  I said maybe they will break through because I know of the coaching and work they put in.  Sometimes when that bulls eye is off of you it becomes a little easier.  Kids tend to play with a chip on their shoulder when they are under the radar.  We shall see.  Good luck.

Absolutely, no doubt that's a ton of production gone. But we have some really good looking kids coming in and our returning guys have looked good so far this spring. Kids that have shown well so far are Kyle Metiem, Jaylx Hunt, Jake Williams, Thomas Schiffman and new QB Ethan Lasher. Defensively, we pretty much replace everything as we lost a bunch from their. We will be fine, the kids are excited and this may be the year we finally crack that playoff door. On a side note, we will FINALLY be hosting home games this season at the school. Lights go up soon and we have 3 games scheduled this year!!!

criticism?  no criticism intended.  Sounds like I was spot on coming from someone who is there.

I use that term loosely. For lack of a better word. Just don't want people to think all we were is Lorenzo

    Hmm alright thanks for clarifying

I remember Orange City University was advertised for playing someone in the Disney Event (i think columbine) so i assumed nolebull was referring to them when he said Orlando University since I've sometimes seen Orange City University listed just as "University"

We are playing Columbine at that event. So far on film I see a stacked team with a lot of size up front on both sides. They did graduate most of their production from last year. However that just means next man up. I'm expecting them to be Lake Brantley on steroids, lol!!! They run single and double wing with a lot of option and throw in enough passing to keep you from loading the box. We will have our hands full but will represent Florida!!! Right now though we are focused on Apopka and Pine Ridge on the 24th. Can't look ahead or we will get caught slipping!!

there is two University's.  Orlando University is usually not very good.  Current Seminole coach Don Starke had some success there for a few years but other than that and John Flath in the early 2000's they have struggled for the last 20 years.  I would guess they have had 4 wining seasons over that time span.

Orange City University has been a disappointment to me.  I think they have good coaching and have had good players but some bad luck and some costly defeats have derailed their seasons.  They lost their All American RB Lingard to graduation and they are kind of under the radar.  maybe they will finally break through but talent wise they are down from previous years.

You are correct we have had a few instances of bad luck, timely injuries and the darn hurricane last year which have cost us. It's tough playing 3 games in 7 days and 2 of them 3 days apart. You are also correct that we lost Lorenzo and a lot of other key contributors, but that's how it goes in high school......every year you lose people. Where I differ from you here is the drop in talent, I think we are going to surprise a lot of people this year. Our kids have put in a ton of work this off-season and our upper classmen have really shown great leadership. We might not have a national name in our backfield but we will have a lot of good quality guys step on to the field. Lo was amazing, once in a lifetime type of player, but he was just 1 guy, he needed the other 10 to help out. So please hold the criticism under you see what we produce, I'm there everyday and I don't see the drop off others expect from us.

yes Orange City is playing Columbine.  I say Orlando university plays Orange City University and the loser changes their name

We actually did play a few years back when current Sanford coach was still there. We won that game 26-14.

Sounds like a interesting little jamboree.....Congratulations on a well deserved Home field to what has been a very sound program the last 4 years.  OCU has has been heading in the right direction since HC Brian Kells took over in 2013.  Wasn't HC Kells a Asst. Coach over at Deland for several years?

I thought I actually had heard somewhere that Deland was expected to be on the rise for 2018?

Kells was actually at Deltona prior to coming to University when the school opened. However we do have a few coaches from DeLand that were part of the staffs that went to the state final in 2009. Also have a couple ex DeLand players who now coach at University. We have progressively gotten better and have a very solid team this year. Also have two incoming freshman who just fast as lightning and have that same look as Lorenzo when he first arrived. We shall see.

DeLand has a very good group returning this year then add in the return of Avantae Williams and Demaurez Bellamy along with the emergence of WR Dionte Marks and you have a possible return to those winning ways. Coach Allen has a quality staff as well, they should be very good this year!!

  10. So since our new field won't be ready in time for the spring game versus Apopka, we are now having a three team jamboree with Apopka, Pine Ridge and us at Pine Ridge High School. Oh btw, we have finally been given permission for a actual field at our school. 7 years in and we will finally play a true home schedule this coming fall. Can't wait for that first Friday night as we are playing our "rival" Deltona.....I put "rival" in quotes because they have never beaten us and as far as I'm concerned to be a true rival you should have actually beaten the other team!!

  11. I've been told we are playing Apopka again this spring. Should be interesting to see if we can slow down the run game this time around. Last year we got rung up pretty good, mostly by one player. I love playing these type of games, win or lose they let you know where you stand and what you need to fix before fall starts. Any other spring game news from anyone???

  12. We saw some things on film and executed them pretty well. No team attacked the QB which allowed him to sit in the pocket and pick teams apart. He had moments where he seamed unstoppable and yes the momentum swings throughout the game were huge. I don't believe they have better talent but do have some explosive players. With a win Friday at Lake Mary we will win the district. Our guys just wanted that win more, our defense has had a tough go with injuries but they fought for all 4 quarters last night. I do think we can pull it out and win the district, but we can not over look Lake Mary and have to get our guys refocused for a quick turn around.

  13. Had another change in plans, we are no longer going to Gadsden County. Now heading to Lake Gibson and playing tomorrow(Thursday) night. All this would have been resolved if the FHSAA had made Sebastian River play the game that was scheduled. We would have gone down there on Saturday or Monday and played and they didn't want to do it, not right and not fair to our kids!!

  14. Having played both teams, Apopka in the spring and a two quarter scrimmage with Mainland, I can honestly say they both have the biggest Oline guys I've ever seen, difference is the Apopka guys are more physical. I will say the two interior lineman for Mainland, #91 and # 44, are HUGE and will do well stuffing the runs inside. When you play two quality teams it's usually the team with the least amount of mistakes that wins and it seems Apopka was that team. Both teams will make deep runs in the playoffs! I just wish we could have played our KOC game, mother nature took that one away from us!! However it would have been nice to have gotten the call BEFORE we drove to the game, appears DeLand already knew since they didn't even bother to show up!!!
