  1. My thoughts exactly. That would effectively make Florida the toughest playoff ticket in the country. However, the top 32 teams for one class would not work based on the number of schools vying for a state title in a single class. It would work for 2 classes. For 1 class, you would need 64 teams.
  2. Whoa whoa whoa! The FHSAA says that metro schools are dominant and are the problem. Suburban schools don't have a chance.
  3. Also, if a tournament were to be played between the class champs to determine 1 true winner, you might as well have 1 class for the entire state and cut the formalities. We all know that won't happen.
  4. If you watch the game, they show different angles so you be the judge. To me, it appears that the receiver firmly grabbed the ball with two hands while preventing it from hitting the ground and never lost control. Just my two cents. Moot now as Lakeland scored 2 plays later.
  5. All Dreadnaughts should be use to that by now, lol. Thank goodness they don't dictate the outcome of the game.
  6. We have another season to determine if this new system is truly a success, or a fluke. However I will say I am impressed at the sheer amount of close games. I'm still not a fan as the base of this plan prevents both metro and suburban school from playing each other in the playoffs and ultimately hurts the state of Florida in the long run. That's what high school football should be all about.
  7. The QB run starting at 9:30 in the 4th. The commentators exact words were, "very close to being too far out of bounds", lol.
  8. LOL, even the commentators said that wasn't a TD despite the ball was clearly grabbed with both hands and pulled into the body while in the air.
  9. We're not going back to 2002, lol.
  10. History rewritten. 2022: Lakeland over Venice, Lake Wales over Mainland. The curse is lifted
  11. Damn shame is what it is!
  12. Without a metro class, Homestead doesn't make the finals.
  13. Why do you contradict yourself? You say the changes were done behind closed doors (which they were) to help Lee and Polk. Lee I can certainly see as they would've rounded out the top 8 based on population not to mention they had 2 board votes whereas Polk had 0 votes and came in a #9 and would've missed the cutoff. So how does Lee get around that? Change the criteria to population density which saves a struggling Lee county (which actually performed better thanks to those changes). Polk does what it does. As already documented, Polk does not need any help getting to the finals and out of 67 counties, Polk is #5 in all time appearances (excluding this season) beating out half the metro counties. Try again son!
  14. Depends on when the FHSAA board members change the metro/suburban criteria if it's even around after next year. However, at the current and projected growth rate, Polk should be in the million+ club by 2040.
  15. What is also deceiving is that Polk has a larger district population than Pinellas.
  16. Seriously, it's very telling to compare Pinellas to any county with a title, metro or suburban in which this rushed plan was conceived bring some semblance of football equality to the state. Regarding metro areas being penalized, if you would, I would really like to hear more about how metro counties (or specifically which ones) are suffering.
  17. Phosphate - Never Citrus - Dead Railroads - Almost dead Again, it depends on your @Perspective
  18. It won't be Lakeland for a couple of reasons even if they emerge victorious next week.
  19. Your eyes did not deceive you. Also, Pinellas County did not sink into the Gulf as expected.
  20. Thanks for the play by play.
  21. Deja Vu (Lake Wales/Columbia). Ouch!
