I hope this doesn’t effect the attendance for playoff games across the state it’s about to be 2020 w errbody should have ponchos umbrellas & hoodies

It's FL...the weather could be sunny and 75 and people still would not show up to the capacity that we all would like to see.

Eye popping terrible loss to an inferior team? C'mon man! That lose was a 2OT road game at the #5 team in the state of Georgia. That's just a nonsense comment.

I was wondering about that same comment. Had it not been for a KOR for a TD then Armwood would've lost by at least 10. If you haven't seen the game, then you should watch it. It was dominated by North Gwinnett. Also, they're #31 in the country haha

Well I worked for IMG for 2 years and won't say I hated it but it wasn't my favorite job either. They spend a ton of money and cut corners and go cheap on many things.

Like most corporations their pay scales are wildly different. Those at the top make lots, those at the bottom not as much.

Teacher pay isn't all that. And IMO the education given isn't all that either. But the sports facilities are first rate and it really is a school for sports and not academics. There are far better prep/boarding schools for studies.

The food facilities are adequate but not great. They just finished a hotel on property which was very much a big ticket item as was the new dorm and swimming park.

Should see some of the cars these kids drive...

But I found their football games to be dull, no pizazz, a band and cheerleaders brought in from local kids, no real student interaction. Few actually attend. Seemed like an event for a select few to see and be seen and congratulate themselves...if you know what I mean.

More like a Jr. College game.

I will say this, the fact that they or a key manager were involved in the SAT scandal did not leave me shocked.

Right across the street is Bayshore High School and I would rather attend one of their games.

They may be elite but the lipstick on a pig comes to my mind whenI think of my time there. Very expensive lipstick and prime pork of course.

This is also why they play many OOS games vs. much better competition.

The evidence is them breezing by everyone in the area for years and then finally making it to state only to get roasted. They had one job of going to GA to help the state rep by beating an above average team they should have man handled and crapped the bed. They are too used to playing slappies so when the going gets tough, they get pushed around.

Yeah they can beat Tampa Bay team in the regular season and North Florida teams in the playoffs but when a team can match them it’s lights out

What makes you think they should have man handled them? North Gwinnet is a top tier team in GA. I would expect them to make a legitimate run in 7a. Not sure where your logic is in this post. Actually from what I heard, North Gwinnet man handled Armwood. Numerous people have said that NG should have won by two touchdowns but gave up some BS plays that kept Armwood in it.

Ga has had their way with most Fla teams they've played this season. Armwood losing in 2OT on the road to a very good Ga team is hardly a knock. But yea, Armwood hasn't been able to get over the hump against Dade teams in State Title games in awhile.

Just out of curiousity wat would make you comfortable with that bet ?? Who have they beat this year to make that pick so solid ? Everh good team they played they lost.

& i will almost gurantee they will lost thursday to U SCHOOL which will drop them to (4-3)

You were right. I retract my statement. After seeing the way they lost that game, Dillard should have a great shot at winning this one. Good luck moving forward this season!!

    The moral to this story:
    1. Lakeland "recruiting" is JV compared to Dade County.
    2. Bill Castle and staff takes good and decent HS players and consistently beat south Fla powers.

    #AgendaBuster

Your list excludes people who were or are starters. This is the most inaccurate thing I've seen. You're a joke. Stop trying to defend the undefendable. Again, this is the exact reason nobody respects anything about these programs as of late.

If Edgewater can cut down on the mental mistakes and penalties, they will beat Marietta.

Wouldn't be surprised a bit if Edgewater beat Marietta. Marietta barely won 10 games the last two years combined. People say they're a top dog in Georgia, but having a few good players doesn't make you a top dog. Would have much rather seen an Edgewater vs. Colquitt/Grayson/Lowndes/North Gwinnett match up. Colquitt travels to Trinity Christian in a couple of weeks. Lowndes played Northwestern and North Gwinnett played Armwood and we all know how well our state was portrayed in those games.....Not good for the state of FL. With that being said, Edgewater may go up to Marietta and earn a little respect back for the state!

A while back, I asked a question on this board concerning the number of transfers Lakeland got this year and not a single person replied.  I found that lack of response very odd, knowing there is more than one person on this board who is a Lakeland fan.  That caused me to do my own research, which I presented on here, and nobody controverted it, so I assume what I presented was correct.  I wouldn't have gone to the bother had someone simply been transparent.

Let me make up a little story.  Some folks on here knew the answer, but were too embarrassed to publicly say.  And, if that's indeed the case, I find that laughable.  As I get older, I've come to believe that I should be able to talk publicly about my own actions if I truly feel comfortable with them.  If what these superteams are doing today is perfectly all right, their fans should feel completely open talking about things.  Defensiveness only reinforces that maybe something isn't quite right.  And just because "everyone else is doing it" doesn't make it right.

To be specific, I have an issue with what Lakeland is doing today...fielding a team that would not look remotely similar without all of their transfers.  And I would say the exact same for several other teams, for whom I have always had respect... until today.  If that's what Lakeland wants to do, go for it...but I think they look silly playing teams who are light years behind them.

To be honest, this is why nobody really even cares that Lakeland won other than those "diehard fans" is because it's not even respectable due to the fact that 80% or more of their starters were at different schools for their junior year of HS. Now with that being said, the talent that Demarcus Bowman and others have is undeniable. A couple of those guys are true Lakeland players, but as for the rest it's almost laughable at the players they have on their team who were recruited over. I say recruited because that's exactly what it is. People can say all day that "nobody is recruiting, it's just a better  program...blah blah blah." Coaches are calling parents, boosters are reaching out to people, community people are becoming the "bag guys" for these schools. Like i said, it's why nobody really respects if they win.

Because the state legislation don't give a crap about public schools so now we see public schools getting underfunded so they can send millions to their "precious" IMG sports academy

This isn't even about IMG. IMG isn't affecting the whole state as negatively as you would think. They don't even compete in state tournaments either so idk why everyone gets so bent out of shape about them. It's a prep school. No different than any other, except for more success. I do agree with underfunding though. It's a major issue, but let's be honest...it's not changing any time soon.

  12. I just always think its a shame when one of FL powerhouses is a huge favorite and should be the clear winner based on talent and size of an opponent, but end up getting beat. Here is also what I heard from the Armwood vs. North Gwinnet game....NG should have won by multiple scores. I heard also that they physically dominated Armwood and wore them down in the second half. I have not seen the film nor will I probably be able to, but I'm just telling you what I heard. How does FL best team get physically dominated and worn down? That's a question everyone should be asking.

Only game that was a "risk" game was NG vs Armwood.    The rest were mismatches IMO.   I guess you could argue AHP but they aren't the same and Gonzaga only played em BC they have a star QB and most likely their best team ever.

BUT all of of FL had Armwood as a 21 point favorite...It seems that everyone also thought that was a mismatch before the game...

  14. Indifferent on this topic as well. They're really good defensively, but hear their offense can be explosive, but lacks ability to drive the field CONSISTENTLY. I know nothing about North Gwinnett other than they were in a defensive battle with Colquitt this past weekend, but eventually lost. I would imagine they are a pretty sound team. 7A in GA is tough and they won the state title in '17 and lost in Quarters last year.

Yep. I just wanted to see how the remark would be justified......if it was really believed.

Look at the small picture. Look at technique of guys. Obviously they are extremely athletic and huge nasty guys upfront. Who wouldn't win with the talent that is recruited in year after year. I'm just telling you, look at some of the schematics, look at the technique of some of the positions. I've been a football coach for a really long time and have had ALOT of success. To people who don't know HOW to look at football, it looks as though they are God's gift to man, but i'm just telling you there are obvious issues in which every year their team could be so much better than they are if they had a higher quality coaching staff. BUT, it's FL and you get what you get. I mean nothing personal by this post, just stating very obvious facts that people who TRULY understand football on a deep level see. Take it for what you want. It is also very evident that the players are not disciplined the way they need to be. I've met Bill many times and know that he is as good as they come, just not sold at all on some of his assistants.
