Venice’s schedule this year as you already know is one of the toughest in Florida and maybe even the nation.
I have Venice losing 3 games this season- IMG Vero Beach, and St. Frances
Any thoughts on this? Could Venice make it back to state semis with STA for the fourth straight year?
I don’t see Venice losing to Vero this year, Vero is replacing 31 seniors, many of whom were starters. After what happened last season, I doubt Peacock lets his guys look past Vero and they’ll get payback at Vero’s Citrus Bowl. I do think they will lose to IMG and St Francis though.

Vero needs a tougher schedule. I know they scheduled one tough game the last couple years but they need more.
I guess going 11-1 looks better than going 8-4.
You guys need to schedule Miami Central, Aquinas, Carol City or any other top SFLA team
Their schedule was pretty good this season including games against 7 teams which made the playoffs. But of course those teams weren’t the type of teams you mentioned.
Even though it’s a rivalry game, I think Vero should drop the final game against Sebastian River from the schedule for a while until Sebastian can field a competitive team consistently in this series. Playing them and the usual first round cupcake, it seems as though Vero is playing down to their competition, and in the second round (which is when the “real” playoffs start) they get handled.

This is part of the reason I can see Dp making it to the third round. I watched Centennial vs Bishop Moore and some Vero Beach games on Youtube. Both teams did not look very physical in the trenches, the only two teams that I think could match DPs physicallity are on the other side Treasure Coast and Osceola (have not seen riverview play).
You are correct, Treasure Coast is very big and physical, and neither Vero nor Centennial have the physicality that they do.
But Treasure Coast was beaten by both of them this season, so maybe both can matchup with DP also.

Due to an incident during the game against Champagnat, FP Westwood may have as many as 12 players suspended against AH Plantation this Friday, their nearly impossible task just became pretty much impossible.

If you think centennial will lose to dp then you pretty much are saying Vero will lose to them also. Vero is very much like centennial.
The difference is Vero would have either one at home, I’d rather see DP than Centennial again because it’s tough to beat the same team twice in a year and Centennial should have beat Vero the first time.
To be honest, I’m glad it’s potentially Centennial in round two rather than Treasure Coast, they’re a matchup nightmare for Vero.

Bishop Moore's wily coaching staff always gets the best out of the players they have. I saw BM hang tough with both Edgewater (early in the season) and Seminole in their final game. If truth be told, both those teams are probably two touchdowns more talented than BM. But BM very nearly won both games.
So, I would not be too worried over Centennial's loss. Hopefully, they learned something from that experience.
Hopefully they did, they’re very talented

I think Vero Beach loses in the second or third round. If they play Cen 10 again, I think the score is reversed. Their best chance to get to Osceola in the third round is to hope DP beats Cen 10 at home. This is possible, but the early season version of DP will probably not be able to.
Centennial’s only meaningful road game away from the treasure coast area this season was at Bishop Moore and the got handled, see my post above, unless they improve, they may be in over their heads.
They are the better team I think, but they have not made it to the playoffs in 8 years and a two hour bus ride and the “stage” of the playoffs may be too much.

If you think Vero is all that , then centennial and treasure coast would also impress you. All three teams are pretty impressive this year
Centennial should beat DP, but their last time taking a 2+ hour bus ride didn’t end well, they were woefully unprepared at Bishop Moore and laid an egg. Playing in the playoffs for the first time in 8 years on the road against the defending state champs may be over their heads.
Treasure Coast should be better prepared due to their tough schedule and they have proven they can hang with most teams on the road (they upset Osceola two years ago at Osceola in the first round.)

We might be finishing up second this year again because Osceola ain't too far behind us
I don’t think anyone on region 2 can catch Vero, but Wekiva could catch and pass Vero in the North for the semis ( if either made it that far)

I believe Pahokee hurting them by droppin another game and Ft Pierce Central being a one win team, I believe Sebastian might hurt after Vero beat em and Pahokee could do damage again if they lose to Glades Central this week, but I hope it ain't dramatic because I don't wanna travel to no other stadiums for playoffs......
They have a 1.34 point lead over Wekiva right now, but you’re right Pahokee’s last two losses hurt them, and it doesn’t help that Wellington has Atlantic this week and Pahokee has the Muck bowl.
Centennial, Ft Lauderdale should win, TC has Palm Bay so that is an uncertainty. The win over Venice is what is keeping them ahead at the moment. Hopefully Venice can close it out against Manatee.

Grew up going to all the games on the visitor side too. Never had issues with falling thru the bleachers even as a small boy. Bathrooms were always adequate better than some stadiums I been to. Food stand is large in comparison to some small food stands at other stadiums and they serve on all three sides. Never once had to go to the home side for anything.
All the food is on the home side now via the food trucks, the Math club still runs the concession areas, but there isn’t food there any more, just drinks and candy. All the food trucks are on the home side now, but it’s a short walk over there and the Vero fans tend to be very nice and are accommodating.
Definately better than most places I’ve been.

Local TcPalm article breaking down each game of the 1981 Vero Beach season- interesting read. Some familiar faces still there as state ranked teams, some have since dropped off the radar.

Knowing we have some guys on the forum who follow this area closely, thought we might have some fun here. If one were to look at the top 12 running backs to come out of the Treasure Coast over the past 30 years, a case could be made that Okeechobee High has produced more talent than any other Treasure Coast high school? Who are these three great backs from Okeechobee? It's nice to give some recognition to the Brahmans, who are having a tough time of late.
1. Parade All-American and Nationwide Insurance Player of the Year as a senior in 1990, rushed for over 1,000 yards during career at West Virginia, played briefly for the Seattle Seahawks, currently an actor whose credits include Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and Law & Order.
2. Standout running back for the Brahmans; played defensive back in the early 1990's at West Virginia; holds share of the Mountaineers record with five pass breakups in a single game; played a season in the Arena Football League with the Orlando Predators.
3. Rushed for 5,091 yards and 56 total touchdowns; All-Area Offensive Player of the Year in 2007 and a two-time all-state selection; switched positions in college and was a four-year starter as a fullback at Florida State; 2013 Orange Bowl MVP; signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent and made the team out of training camp; was on the practice roster with the Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills.
1. Jimmy Gary
3. Lonnie Pryor

I stumbled across a BullDawg magazine from the summer Herschel would have been a incoming freshman, where I worked going through some old records. What blew me away as I read an article that was playing up the arrival of Herschel as well as going over the starters for both offense and defense, was Herschel's size compared to the starting UGA offensive line.....to a man they were only 15- 20 lbs heavier than Herschel.......................keep in mind he also ran on the UGA track team later that year and I want to say ran anchor for the 4X100 team, in addition to running 100m........for man his size he was way more than a freak of nature! The game later that year against South Carolina saw George Rogers carry the ball over 40 times and I want to say Walker carried it over 30 times as well...............both were men among boys at the college level that year...............Rodgers again going on memory may have won the Heisman that year too! There was a big back at Vero Beach..(cant remember his name) I want to say 89 that went onto play at Miami.....had a lot of speed..the night I saw him was in the playoffs against Manatee but Manatee beat them like a drum with Chris Bilkie and Kevin Freeman...(both went onto play at Florida) running through and around the Vero Beach defense that night like it was swiss cheese......also how about Sammie Smith.....another big back with speed
VB back was James Stewart, C/O ‘91

The turnover of coaching staff will often do that to a program, particularly when there are other school options close by.
This is exactly what is going on there. Once Josh Schafer left, there has been a revolving door of coaches, most of the Fort Pierce kids now are at Westwood, John Carroll or the other St Lucie County schools (Port St Lucie, Centennial, Treasure Coast.) Vero gets some also (David Reese last season.)
As another poster noted before, the talent in Ft Pierce can be cyclical anyway, and the coaching issue has only sped up that process.

Ft Lauderdale is in the same district as sta and lost to the raiders 49-0 last week so nooo the flying Ls are still hoping they can sneak in by points
Josh has them projected as a 6 seed right now, but I agree with you, they are hoping to sneak in, and I’m sure will get blasted by whoever they play in the first round.

To be honest, I think DP gets bounced in round 1 if they play either Treasure Coast or Centennial. DP has fallen badly since winning the title last year. They sleepwalked through the Apopka game and really did not play as if they wanted to win.
Darter,
Centennial is playing up at Bishop Moore Friday if you’re interested in seeing them in person at all.

Also Ft Lauderdale and Wellington, and Westwood (already won their district) who are on track to make the playoffs as well...
