  1. I have been screaming for a promotion / demotion plan for last two years. For the exact same reason you stated. I just hated suburb / metro plan that really did not help many people out and punished alot more teams.
  2. So your saying their is no difference between a public 2A school who does not recruit and cheat to Chaminade-Madonna high school football. They all can recruit even though its no legal by FHSAA rules.
  3. Here is an example of nothing happening at all when FHSAA even busts a school red handed. https://www.clickorlando.com/sports/2018/08/23/winter-park-high-school-football-players-ineligible-after-faked-documentation-uncovered/ Head Coach and Ad get away with it scot free and a few assistant were fired and then the players were eligible for playoffs anyway with later ruling. Basically saying illegal recruiting is fine with them even in this extreme circumstance with players getting rent and other stuff. The FHSAA is really weak and has no stomach for recruiting investigation and with open enrollment useless anyway because a player can say they went to new school for academic reasons.
  4. So let me get this straight. You think letting some ridiculous Formula that is a half butt Max preps formula that no one knows how is calculated that is than tweaked by FHSAA is a better way to pick playoffs teams. Oh brother....you are clueless.
  5. A four year average shows who the dominant teams are. A one year average does not do that.
  6. HAHAHA....nobody is cheating. Believe it or not....FHSAA says recruiting is CHEATING. They just don't enforce their rules. The states push for open enrollment (which I am for) makes enforcing rules impossible. Even when a schools gets busted red handed for paying rents and other stuff, they still get to use the players in the playoffs. You might get your joy from letting all star teams destroy normal community teams and winning state titles by cheating, but I think they should all be put into same 2 divisions and beat each other up.
  7. Good idea.....its not like any of them were going to win against South Florida schools anyway. Good idea to form own association. Until FHSAA does real reform and promotes cheaters and demotes normal schools, you will see other associations form. Cant stop the cheating and transfers so you have 2 options.....A) start cheating yourself and recruit or drop out. Easy decision.
  8. The whole metro suburb idea was a farce. They sold it as way to increase parity and it was a joke because it only benefited a few elite suburb schools who already made the finals or semis in old system and now got a minor league B title. It made the suburb class second class citizens. Throw in the sneaky way they got Polk and Lee county to be suburb schools by changing the plan from population to population density and I see why they dumped that pig with lipstick as soon as possible. Good riddance. Go to real reform by promotion and demotion and we will have real parity.
  9. The issue with the metro/suburb idea is it only really helped some elite suburb teams who already made it far in the playoffs get a state title. It squeezed metro teams in divisions with huge enrollment differences as well, which was not fair. Finally, the whole change from population to population density stunk to the high heavens because it was not in original idea. I liked districts for playoffs much better than max preps secret sauce fhsaa formula.
  10. One of the reasons the old district champ and district runner up model worked in Florida is due to the fact you could reschedule a district game instead of another and just erase the non district game when bad weather hit. You had to beat your competition head to head and not count on some secret half butt formula from Maxpreps and Fhsaa. Cons were loaded district with 3 awesome teams and then the dreaded 2 or 3 team district. Wild cards in old days helped the one issue.
  11. Playing multiple games is torture for high school football teams. When hurricanes cause a team to play on a Thursday/Friday game and then turn around and play another on Monday or Tuesday and then Friday make proper game planning impossible and recovery non-existent.
  12. Bingo Dr. D. You are soooo right. FHSAA will not care unless mass exodus. We can come up with a million reform ideas but enrollment based is easiest for the FHSAA and not going anywhere.
  13. For all the crybabies posting on here. Explain why so much hate. Maybe you loved being able to thrown the best teams out of your division and let the metro teams beat the crap out of each other in that horrible system where the metro counties did not even go by population but some bs density rule. Its basically the same system we had for decades. Enrollment based classification. hello. Go to promotion and demotion and hardly anybody would drop out. Let the cream of the crop ruse to top 3 divisions and rest fight it out for regional non-state titles below. The reason teams are dropping like flies is that they cant compete with the transfer recruiting cheating teams. Why would bad Orlando 7A teams want to compete with an all star team Edgewater? You will never get real change going by population alone and we all know it. So crybabies. What system do you want h8r?
  14. The teams that are dropping out should drop out and they can always come back if they have a Edgewater type off Renaissance. Unfortunately the FHSAA ignoring recruiting and the open enrollment process is creating 2 classes in high school football. The extreme haves and the have nots. Maybe something will be done like promotion down the road but until a ton of teams leave the FHSAA, thing will remain status quo.
  15. I am saying that the gainesville area coaches this guy spoke to hate new idea because they liked being separate and in easy division. Coca never backs down from tough competition as everyone has seen by your schedule and success in entire state.
  16. Of course it was done by a suburb area newspaper. Teams loved avoiding south Florida talent.
  17. Tell me when coaches are happy. they liked suburb /metro because it was easier to make playoffs and extra state champs. Keep same system but lower number of divisions to 6 .
  18. I like this model much better than last metro suburban bs. You get the same complaints about easy districts and tough ones but the elite teams really dont care. They are stockpiled with talent so boo hoo. We should have 2 fewer divisions but it still better than last 2 years of major leagues and minor ones.
  19. Just checkout a couple years ago when a ton of Lake Gibson's starters transferred out to another program after being runner ups at state. They were already at a super successful program and bam recruited to another and gone.
  20. Your idea makes wayyyyyyyy too much sense for FHSAA board. They will do nothing and just go back to old model and ignore the recruiting issue as always. Wild west boys, if you want to be great in Florida football, you have to be college recruiters. Go cheat like Winter Park did a few years ago ago and pay some rent and give some $100 handshakes coaches. They got to use the players for the playoffs and only had them suspended for 5 regular season games. That was an obvious cheating rewarded. So you think FHSAA is actually going to stop the transfer recruiting. What a farce. https://www.clickorlando.com/sports/2018/08/23/winter-park-high-school-football-players-ineligible-after-faked-documentation-uncovered/#:~:text=WINTER PARK%2C Fla.,High School this school year.
  21. Sure. Just take a picture of all the state champions in the metro division and a few of the suburban rosters. and see how many players came from other schools or were supposed to go to other schools. They all recruit. Illegal thus a form of cheating. In order to be an elite team in Florida, you must get elite talent and the only way is to break the rule and recruit. Or you can bury your head in the sand like an ostrich and say that does not in our state.
  22. The promotion/demotion idea was a way to handle recruiting and open enrollment cheating since the state cant do anything about it and did not want to have a private/public split. The open division handle some of it but it would be better at 16 teams or even 32.
  23. I think the open division is a good idea. I would expand it to 16 though. Let the cheater recruiters beat each other up instead crushing the non-cheaters. Plus, it will make for some awesome playoffs for the one true state champion of Florida in all sports.
  24. I said from day 1 that the suburb division (which is crap anyway because the leaders cherry picked which counties they wanted to be in Metro and suburb with some bs population density ) was the minor league even though they have some major league programs like Lakeland and Venice. They sold us a bill of goods about parity for suburb schools but only helped a few awesome semi finalist become champs. Rest of metro schools got screwed.
