The regional picture has started moving.
Now the same is happening inside the races that ultimately matter when the postseason arrives.
For the first time in 2026, regular-season results are part of the Enhanced Florida Power Rankings Index classification rankings. One week was enough to challenge several pieces of the preseason order.
Some No. 1 teams strengthened their position. Others did not play. A few preseason contenders absorbed losses that sent them tumbling through their respective Power 10s, while several teams that began outside the conversation forced their way into it immediately.
That volatility is not surprising.
There is still preseason information in the FPRI, and one game remains a very small sample. But each completed regular-season game gives the system more evidence about what teams actually are in 2026. Results, opponent strength and performance now begin replacing assumptions.
There are already some significant changes.
West Broward has moved ahead of Vero Beach in Class 6A without playing. Mandarin has climbed inside a dramatically altered Class 5A Power 10. St. Augustine is now No. 2 in Class 4A. Merritt Island has forced its way into the Class 3A picture after beating Cocoa by 25. The First Academy has climbed in Class 2A after a 51-point win over Dr. Phillips. Lakeland Christian has surged in Class 1A.
And several of the SSAA and independent classifications look almost nothing like they did before the season began.
Week 2 could accelerate all of it.
The Broward County National High School Football Showcase puts several highly rated Florida programs against major interstate opponents, while a collection of cross-classification games around the state will give the FPRI another set of useful measuring sticks.
The preseason rankings established the starting point.
Now the classification races are beginning to take shape.

Class 6A: Lake Mary Still Leads, but the Field Behind the Rams Is Changing
Lake Mary remains No. 1 in Class 6A with a 94.12 rating.
The interesting part is that the Rams did not play.
Lake Mary was open in Week 1, meaning its position was not reinforced by a new result. The preseason cushion was simply large enough to survive the first weekend while teams underneath it began accumulating data.
Venice remains No. 2 at 86.19 after surviving Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (Ga.) 42-40 in overtime. It was hardly comfortable, but the Indians came away with a victory against an out-of-state opponent and preserved their spot behind Lake Mary.
Then the order changes.
West Broward moves from No. 4 to No. 3 at 83.80 despite also being open in Week 1. Vero Beach slips one position to No. 4 even after shutting out Jensen Beach 34-0.
That is an early reminder that these rankings are interconnected. A win does not guarantee upward movement if the rating changes elsewhere produce a different order.
Edgewater remains fifth after handling Ocoee 34-6.
West Orange makes the biggest jump near the top of the classification. The Warriors move from No. 8 in the preseason to No. 6 after beating Archbishop Hoban (Ohio) 28-24.
The significance extends beyond Class 6A. West Orange also soared 27 spots statewide, from No. 52 in the preseason to No. 25 in the Florida Power 25.
DeLand sits seventh after surviving Lake Wales 35-34.
Then comes Seminole.
The Seminoles were outside the preseason Class 6A Power 10. A 26-17 victory over Mountain Vista (Colo.) changed that immediately. Seminole climbed 46 positions statewide to No. 40 and now sits No. 8 in Class 6A.
Spruce Creek moves to No. 9 after beating Erie (Colo.) 14-10.
Jupiter completes the Power 10 at No. 10 after an emphatic 46-0 shutout of Dwyer.
Dr. Phillips is the conspicuous absence.
The Panthers began No. 6 in Class 6A but fell out of the Power 10 after losing 58-7 to The First Academy. It was one of the most dramatic Week 1 results involving a preseason-ranked team anywhere in Florida.

Week 2 spotlight
Class 6A gets several major tests, beginning Thursday with the Broward County National High School Football Showcase.
West Broward finally gets on the field when McEachern (Ga.) comes to Western HS Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Bobcats enter Week 2 ranked No. 3 in Class 6A and No. 16 statewide without a completed regular-season result.
That makes Thursday particularly valuable. Instead of easing into the season, West Broward gets an interstate opponent under Showcase conditions for its first real data point.
Friday brings one of the best cross-classification games in Florida when Atlantic (Delray Beach), No. 5 in Class 4A, travels to face Vero Beach at the Citrus Bowl at Billy Livings Field.
Edgewater hosts The First Academy at Frank E. Lough Stadium. Edgewater is No. 5 in Class 6A. The First Academy is No. 4 in Class 2A and arrives after its 58-7 demolition of Dr. Phillips.
Lake Mary finally opens its regular season against Oviedo at Doug Peters Field at Don T. Reynolds Stadium.
DeLand gets a major national challenge when St. Frances Academy (Md.) visits Spec Martin Memorial Stadium.
West Orange hosts Horizon at Raymond Screws Field, Seminole travels to Lake Howell at Richard L. Evans Stadium, Spruce Creek visits Rockledge at McLarty Stadium and Jupiter hosts Palm Beach Gardens at Velocity Community Credit Union Stadium.
Class 6A already changed considerably without its No. 1 team playing.
Week 2 finally puts Lake Mary into the equation.
Class 5A: St. Thomas Aquinas and West Boca Raton Are Almost Even at the Top
Class 5A might have the most interesting No. 1 race in Florida.
St. Thomas Aquinas remains on top at 96.64.
West Boca Raton is right behind at 96.26.
The difference is 0.38 points.
St. Thomas Aquinas opened with a 42-0 shutout of Western and remains No. 3 statewide.
West Boca provided one of the defining results of Week 1, going into Heritage Field and beating American Heritage (Plantation) 24-7. The Bulls moved three spots statewide to No. 4 and remain No. 2 within Class 5A.
That gives the classification two teams sitting essentially side by side in the FPRI.
Lakeland remains third at 92.84 after beating Kathleen 47-0.
Buchholz stays fourth after surviving Vanguard 34-28 in overtime in Ocala.
Armwood remains fifth at 84.92 after a 17-7 victory over Lennard.
Then the preseason order changes dramatically.
Mandarin moves from No. 8 to No. 6 after beating McArthur 38-21. The Mustangs also climbed into the Florida Power 25 at No. 23.
Pace enters the Power 10 at No. 7 after shutting out Fairhope (Ala.) 41-0.
Tampa Bay Tech moves into the No. 8 position following a 27-6 win over Lake Gibson.
Mitchell enters at No. 9 after shutting out Gulf 37-0.
Gaither rounds out the Power 10 after a 56-0 win over Blake.
Three preseason Top 10 teams are gone.
Nease, which began No. 6, fell to No. 11 in the class after losing 21-14 to Creekside.
Miami Southridge started No. 7 and fell sharply after Columbus beat the Spartans 45-7.
Oakleaf, the preseason No. 9, also dropped out after losing 21-7 to Raines.
Archbishop McCarthy began No. 10 and now sits just outside this Power 10 despite not getting a completed Week 1 game after its matchup with Royal Palm Beach was postponed.

Week 2 spotlight
The No. 1 race gets fascinating because West Boca and Lakeland are both open.
St. Thomas Aquinas is very much not.
The Raiders face DeSoto (Texas) at 6 p.m. Saturday at Brian Piccolo Stadium as part of the Broward County National High School Football Showcase.
St. Thomas Aquinas starts the week only 0.38 ahead of West Boca in Class 5A and two statewide positions ahead in the Florida Power 25. While West Boca sits, the Raiders will add another result against a high-profile interstate opponent.
That gives the Showcase game implications well beyond one Saturday night result.
Armwood leaves the state to face Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) at Granatell Stadium on Friday.
Pace travels to Pensacola Catholic at Gorecki-LaBeau Stadium in a matchup between Top 10 teams from Classes 5A and 2A.
Tampa Bay Tech visits Sumner at Stingray Stadium. Both teams opened with convincing wins.
Plant visits Gaither at Ron Allen Field, giving the Cowboys an opportunity to test Gaither’s new Top 10 position after Plant jumped sharply following its win over Manatee.
Buchholz hosts Gainesville at Citizens Field, Mandarin visits Atlantic Coast at Stingray Bay and Mitchell travels to Hudson at Cobra Stadium.
There is also an important Class 5A storyline just outside the Top 10.
Archbishop McCarthy finally gets a chance to play after its Week 1 postponement when Bolles comes to Maverick Stadium as part of the Broward County National High School Football Showcase.
Class 5A already looked deep in the preseason.
After Week 1, it looks even more crowded.
Class 4A: St. Augustine Moves Up as American Heritage Takes the First Major Hit
Miami Northwestern remains No. 1 in Class 4A at 93.87.
The Bulls are also No. 6 statewide after surviving Lakewood 20-18.
That score deserves some attention. Northwestern entered with a significant rating advantage, but Lakewood pushed the Bulls throughout the game. Northwestern still owns the win, but the margin was much tighter than the preseason numbers suggested.
St. Augustine is the biggest beneficiary near the top.
The Yellow Jackets jump from No. 4 in the preseason to No. 2 after shutting out Palatka 49-0.
American Heritage (Plantation) drops from No. 2 to No. 3 after its 24-7 loss to West Boca Raton.
The statewide damage was even greater. American Heritage fell nine spots in the Florida Power 25, from No. 6 to No. 15.
That is one of the steepest falls by any team that began the season near the top.
Jones moves from No. 3 to No. 4 after losing 27-0 to Santa Margarita (Calif.).
Atlantic holds the No. 5 position following an 18-7 win over Spanish River.
Port Charlotte stays sixth after pouring up 63 points in a 63-26 win over Cape Coral.
Miami Norland climbs to No. 7 after shutting out South Dade 20-0.
Jesuit moves from No. 10 to No. 8 after blanking SFA Academy 37-0.
Then comes Columbia.
The Tigers were outside the preseason Class 4A Power 10. Their 20-19 victory over Bolles changed that immediately. Columbia jumps all the way to No. 9 in the classification and rose 44 positions statewide to No. 56.
Lake Wales rounds out the Top 10 after its 35-34 loss to DeLand. The Highlanders began No. 7 and slide three places.
Bishop Moore drops out after its 28-25 overtime loss to Hawthorne.
The result is a Class 4A ranking with the same leader but a very different chase group after one week.

Week 2 spotlight
American Heritage has one of the most interesting bounce-back assignments in Florida.
East St. Louis (Ill.) comes to Heritage Field on Friday as part of the Broward County National High School Football Showcase.
The Patriots do not get an easy game to recover from the West Boca loss. They get another nationally relevant opponent with an opportunity to change the early direction of their rating.
That makes this one especially important. American Heritage was No. 2 in Class 4A and No. 6 statewide in the preseason. One game pushed the Patriots to No. 3 in the class and No. 15 statewide.
Week 2 gives them an immediate answer.
St. Augustine hosts Nease at H.L. “Foots” Brumley Stadium. Nease fell out of the Class 5A Power 10 after losing its opener, but the Panthers remain a dangerous opponent.
Atlantic travels to Vero Beach in a Top 25 cross-classification game at the Citrus Bowl at Billy Livings Field.
Port Charlotte visits Clearwater Central Catholic at James Brian Thomas Stadium.
Miami Norland heads to Ocala to face Vanguard at Booster Stadium.
Jesuit travels to Bishop Verot at Viking Stadium.
Columbia follows the Bolles win by hosting Lakewood at Tiger Stadium.
Lake Wales visits Sebring at Firemen’s Memorial Field.
Miami Northwestern faces Miami Jackson at Nathaniel Traz Powell Stadium on Thursday, while Jones is open.
Class 4A has already delivered one of the largest preseason-to-Week 1 shakeups.
American Heritage’s Showcase game gives it a chance to reshape the story again.
Class 3A: Raines and Cardinal Mooney Still Have Separation, but the Middle Is New
Raines remains No. 1 in Class 3A with a 98.21 rating and No. 2 statewide.
The Vikings opened with a 21-7 victory over Oakleaf and still have significant separation from most of the classification.
Cardinal Mooney remains No. 2 at 93.70 after beating Berkeley Prep 39-21.
Miami Central holds No. 3 with an 83.07 rating following a 23-22 win over Orange Lutheran (Calif.).
Those three remain comfortably in front.
Then Class 3A starts looking different.
Dillard moves from No. 5 to No. 4 after beating Piper 44-21.
Bishop Kenny climbs from No. 9 to No. 5 as the teams around the Crusaders shift.
Merritt Island makes the most significant entrance.
The Mustangs were outside the preseason Power 10 and now sit No. 6 after beating Cocoa 44-19 at Dick Blake Stadium.
That was not a narrow upset.
Merritt Island beat the preseason No. 4 team in Class 2A by 25 points and jumped 48 positions statewide to No. 71.
The Villages climbs from No. 10 to No. 7 after beating Zephyrhills 31-14.
Eau Gallie drops from No. 4 to No. 8 after losing 41-7 to Carrollwood Day.
Bishop Verot falls from No. 6 to No. 9 after John Carroll shut out the Vikings 17-0.
Glades Central slips from No. 7 to No. 10 after losing 14-9 to Palm Beach Central.
Cardinal Gibbons, which started No. 8, falls just outside the classification Power 10 despite beating Miramar 14-7.
That middle group is far less settled than it appeared two weeks ago.

Week 2 spotlight
No game in the classification carries more ranking weight than Cardinal Newman at Cardinal Mooney.
It is No. 1 in Class 2A against No. 2 in Class 3A.
Cardinal Newman enters No. 9 statewide. Cardinal Mooney is No. 7.
The game kicks off Friday at Austin Smithers Stadium in Sarasota and has implications for both classification races and the Florida Power 25.
Dillard gets an interstate test Saturday when St. Peter’s Prep (N.J.) visits Otis Gray Jr. Memorial Stadium.
Bishop Kenny hosts Ponte Vedra at William H. Johnston Sr. Stadium.
Merritt Island follows its statement win over Cocoa with a road trip to Melbourne at Tom McIntyre Stadium.
Bishop Verot hosts Jesuit at Viking Stadium.
Glades Central welcomes John Carroll to Dr. Effie Grear Stadium. John Carroll enters after shutting out Bishop Verot, giving the Raiders an immediate look at another member of this Top 10.
Raines hosts Baldwin at Earl S. Kitchings Stadium.
Miami Central and The Villages are open.
Class 3A still has a clear top three.
Everything beneath them looks much less predictable.
Class 2A: Cardinal Newman and Chaminade-Madonna Lead a Power 10 Full of Week 1 Statements
Cardinal Newman remains No. 1 in Class 2A with a 90.99 rating.
The Crusaders opened with a convincing 37-7 win over Community School of Naples and sit No. 9 statewide.
Chaminade-Madonna remains No. 2 at 86.84 after beating Monarch 49-21.
Bolles stays No. 3 in the classification, but that requires context.
The Bulldogs lost 20-19 to Columbia and dropped 11 positions statewide to No. 28. Their 75.25 rating leaves them only two-hundredths of a point ahead of The First Academy.
And no team in the Class 2A Power 10 made a louder Week 1 statement than The First Academy.
The Royals beat Dr. Phillips 58-7 and climb from No. 6 in the preseason to No. 4.
Clearwater Central Catholic stays fifth after beating Palmetto 28-24.
Bradford moves up one spot to No. 6 after obliterating West Port 65-0.
Pensacola Catholic climbs to No. 7 following a 20-0 shutout of Milton.
Immaculata-La Salle moves to No. 8 after beating Booker T. Washington 33-14.
Calvary Christian of Clearwater enters the Power 10 at No. 9 following a 36-9 win over North Miami.
Florida High also moves in, reaching No. 10 after a 37-13 victory over Navarre.
Two significant preseason names have fallen out.
Cocoa started No. 4 in Class 2A but drops outside the Top 10 after losing 44-19 to Merritt Island.
Lakewood began No. 10 and falls out despite a competitive 20-18 loss to Miami Northwestern.
That illustrates how different losses can be interpreted.
Cocoa suffered a decisive head-to-head defeat against a Class 3A opponent. Lakewood lost by two against the No. 1 team in Class 4A.
Both are now outside the Power 10, but the context is very different.

Week 2 spotlight
Class 2A might have the most interesting collection of Week 2 games of any classification.
It starts Thursday with the Broward County National High School Football Showcase.
Chaminade-Madonna faces Sierra Canyon (Calif.) at Heritage Field.
The Lions are No. 2 in Class 2A and No. 11 statewide. A strong result against Sierra Canyon would immediately become one of the most important pieces of data in the classification.
Friday brings Cardinal Newman at Cardinal Mooney at Austin Smithers Stadium.
That is Class 2A No. 1 against Class 3A No. 2 and a matchup of teams ranked Nos. 9 and 7 statewide.
Bolles gets an immediate opportunity to answer the Columbia loss when the Bulldogs visit Archbishop McCarthy at Maverick Stadium as part of the Broward County Showcase.
The First Academy visits Edgewater at Frank E. Lough Stadium. The Royals just beat a Class 6A opponent 58-7 and now get the No. 5 team in Class 6A.
Clearwater Central Catholic hosts Port Charlotte at James Brian Thomas Stadium.
Bradford travels to Baker County at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium.
Pensacola Catholic hosts Pace at Gorecki-LaBeau Stadium, pairing the No. 7 team in Class 2A with the No. 7 team in Class 5A.
Immaculata-La Salle hosts St. John Neumann at the Grosso-Parsons Sports Complex, Calvary Christian travels to face Northside Christian, and Florida High visits Chiles at Stan Goldstein Field.
Class 2A was loaded before the season.
Week 1 did not change that.
It changed which teams are pushing hardest toward the top.
Class 1A: Hawthorne Holds No. 1 as Lakeland Christian Makes a Major Move
Hawthorne remains No. 1 in Class 1A at 83.00.
The Hornets did not get there easily.
Bishop Moore pushed Hawthorne into overtime before the Hornets escaped with a 28-25 victory.
Carrollwood Day stays No. 2 at 78.23 after beating Eau Gallie 41-7.
That gives Class 1A two teams in the Florida Power 25: Hawthorne at No. 19 and Carrollwood Day at No. 21.
Blountstown stays third after opening with a 49-14 win over Ariton (Ala.).
The first major movement comes at No. 4.
Lakeland Christian jumps three classification positions after beating Santa Fe Catholic 81-7. The Vikings climb to a 69.21 rating and now sit No. 47 statewide.
True North slips one spot to No. 5 without playing. Its Week 1 game against BridgePrep Village Green was canceled.
Madison County moves from No. 8 to No. 6 after shutting out Lecanto 38-0.
University Christian is a significant newcomer at No. 7. The Christians beat Ponte Vedra 31-29 and climbed 43 positions statewide.
Taylor County moves from No. 10 to No. 8 after beating Bozeman 47-13.
Pahokee remains ninth following a 26-21 win over Dr. Joaquin Garcia.
Williston enters the Power 10 at No. 10 after beating Chiefland 30-12.
That result helped knock Chiefland, the preseason No. 6, out of the Top 10.
Trinity Christian also falls out after losing 42-40 in overtime to Ed White.
There is still a gap between Hawthorne and the middle of the classification, but Week 1 made the chase group considerably more interesting.

Week 2 spotlight
True North becomes part of the Broward County National High School Football Showcase when the Titans visit Coconut Creek at Don Conkel Stadium on Friday.
The setup is compelling.
True North did not get to play in Week 1 because of the cancellation. Coconut Creek did, and the Cougars beat Plantation 48-0 while jumping 10 spots in the South Florida regional rankings.
That gives True North a much more informative first completed result than it might have expected.
Hawthorne hosts Newberry at Annie Mae Phillips Stadium.
Carrollwood Day visits River Ridge at James Valentine Stadium.
Blountstown hosts Bay at Ted Cooper Stadium at Bowles Field.
Madison County travels to Gadsden County at Jaguars Stadium.
University Christian visits Trinity Christian at Conquerors Stadium, giving Trinity an immediate opportunity to work back toward the Class 1A Power 10.
Taylor County hosts Wakulla at Dorsett Stadium.
Pahokee travels to Royal Palm Beach at Palms West Hospital Community Stadium.
Williston hosts South Sumter at Booster Stadium after both teams opened with notable wins.
Class 1A’s top two remain intact.
The group underneath them is already much different.
SSAA 11-Man: Aucilla Christian Takes Over No. 1
No classification saw its top change more clearly than SSAA 11-Man.
Jupiter Christian entered the season No. 1.
Aucilla Christian is No. 1 now.
The Warriors move from third in the preseason to the top with a 65.07 rating after beating Sneads 19-8. Aucilla is also No. 67 statewide among 11-man programs.
Out-of-Door moves from No. 4 to No. 2 after shutting out Babcock 56-0.
NSU University School slips from No. 2 to No. 3 after losing 49-35 to Mount Dora Christian.
Jupiter Christian falls from first to fourth after a 44-7 loss to Benjamin.
That means the entire preseason top four has been reordered after only one week.
Seffner Christian makes one of the classification’s largest jumps, moving from No. 9 to No. 5 after a 62-0 win over Legacy Charter.
Keswick Christian enters at No. 6 after shutting out Cambridge Christian 20-0.
Christ’s Church Academy moves up to No. 7 following a 51-0 win over First Coast Christian.
Maclay remains No. 8 after shutting out Lafayette 38-0.
Old Plank Christian enters the Power 10 at No. 9 after beating Duval Charter 34-0.
Florida Christian falls from No. 6 to No. 10 despite a 42-0 win over Braddock.
St. Joseph and Monsignor Pace fall out of the Top 10.
This is precisely the kind of classification where early results can create rapid movement because many teams already have multiple games in the system and the schedules cross heavily into other classifications.

Out-of-Door visits Cambridge Christian at Skyway Park.
NSU University School goes to Calvary Christian (Fort Lauderdale) at Calvary Field on Thursday, giving the Sharks an immediate opportunity to respond to their loss at Mount Dora Christian.
Jupiter Christian visits Dwyer at Rick Hubbard Field at Blum Stadium after its difficult Week 1 result.
Seffner Christian hosts Indian Rocks Christian at the SCA Sports Complex.
Keswick Christian hosts Bishop McLaughlin at Keswick Sports Complex.
Christ’s Church Academy welcomes Paxon to Fort Family Park, while Maclay hosts Rutherford at Frank Shaw Field.
Old Plank Christian is open.
Florida Christian hosts Pine Crest at Wadsworth Field.
The top of this classification was separated by almost nothing in the preseason.
One week later, the order has been turned over.
SSAA Atlantic: American Heritage Delray Holds the Top Spot as the Power 10 Turns Over Behind It
American Heritage (Delray Beach) remains No. 1 in SSAA Atlantic, but the Stallions have strengthened the argument.
American Heritage carries a 71.25 rating and sits No. 41 statewide after beating Somerset Academy 49-12.
West Nassau remains second at 59.72 after a 14-14 tie against Charlton County (Ga.).
The larger changes begin at No. 3.
Frostproof climbs from No. 6 in the preseason to No. 3 after beating LaBelle 28-21.
Calvary Christian (Fort Lauderdale) moves from No. 3 to No. 4.
King’s Academy climbs from No. 8 to No. 5 after beating Saint Andrew’s 23-8.
Then several new names enter.
Satellite makes a major move to No. 6 after shutting out Halifax Academy 52-0. The Scorpions also jumped 81 places statewide and comes on the heels of defeating Space Coast in Week 0.
Trenton enters at No. 7 after beating South Marion 29-2.
Cottondale moves into the Power 10 at No. 8 following a 30-20 win over North Bay Haven.
Space Coast slips from No. 5 to No. 9 despite beating Umatilla 43-7, that is coupled with their Week 0 loss to Satellite.
Branford falls from No. 7 to No. 10 after starting 1-1.
Lafayette, LaBelle and Fernandina Beach are among the preseason Top 10 teams that have fallen out.
The top remains familiar.
Almost everything underneath American Heritage and West Nassau has changed.

Week 2 spotlight
American Heritage (Delray Beach) hosts Somerset Charter (Silver Palms) at Stallions Field.
West Nassau hosts KIPP Bold City at Warrior Field.
Frostproof welcomes DeSoto County to Faris Brannen Stadium.
One of the most interesting games in the classification comes Thursday when Calvary Christian hosts SSAA 11-Man No. 3 NSU University School at Calvary Field.
King’s Academy hosts Clewiston at Kahlert Stadium.
Satellite travels to Legacy Charter at Central Park.
Trenton hosts Dixie County at Tiger Stadium.
Cottondale welcomes Graceville to Hornet Stadium.
Space Coast travels to Okeechobee at Brahman Stadium.
Branford heads west to face Wewahitchka at Gator Field.
With seven of the current Top 10 already carrying at least one win, SSAA Atlantic has begun generating enough results for the order to move quickly.
SSAA 8-Man: Merritt Island Christian Replaces Real Life Christian at No. 1
The top of SSAA 8-Man already has a new look.
Merritt Island Christian moves from No. 2 in the preseason to No. 1 with a 65.69 rating.
The Cougars received a Week 1 forfeit victory over Saint Francis Catholic and now own the classification’s top position.
Shorecrest Prep also climbs one spot to No. 2 after beating Foundation Christian 26-0.
Bradenton Christian makes the biggest move near the top, jumping from No. 6 to No. 3 after a 53-0 victory over Orlando Christian Prep.
Real Life Christian, the preseason No. 1, falls three places to No. 4 despite beating City of Life Christian 36-0 that comes on the heels of their Week 0 loss ot Foundation Christian.
That is another reminder that FPRI movement is not determined simply by whether a team won. The performance and changing ratings of the teams around it matter as well.
Florida Deaf and Blind remains fifth after being open.
Hernando Christian moves from No. 8 to No. 6 after beating Academy at the Lakes 22-19.
Donahue Academy drops from No. 4 to No. 7 after losing 61-0 to SLAM Tampa.
Foundation Christian moves up one position to No. 8 despite the 26-0 loss to Shorecrest that came after defeating previous No. 1 Real Life Christian.
Countryside Christian enters at No. 9 after beating Ocala Christian 28-26.
Ocala Christian drops from No. 7 to No. 10 following that loss.
Academy at the Lakes falls out of the Power 10.
Only 21.22 rating points separate No. 1 from No. 10, and much less separates the teams near the top. In an eight-man classification where schedules can vary widely, the weekly order could remain volatile for a while.

Week 2 spotlight
SSAA 8-Man gives us two direct Top 10 matchups.
No. 2 Shorecrest Prep hosts No. 7 Donahue Academy at Haskell Field.
No. 4 Real Life Christian hosts No. 6 Hernando Christian at Raptors Field.
Those games should immediately provide more separation inside a classification that currently has several teams tightly packed together.
No. 1 Merritt Island Christian travels to Bell Creek at Providence West Park.
Bradenton Christian visits Lakeside Christian at Safety Harbor City Park.
Florida Deaf and Blind hosts Cornerstone Academy on Thursday at F. Charles Usina Field.
Foundation Christian visits Riverview Academy.
Countryside Christian gets an earlier Week 2 game, hosting Academy at the Lakes on Tuesday at Minutemen Field.
Ocala Christian hosts First Academy-Leesburg.
For a classification that already changed leaders after one week, two Top 10 head-to-head games could produce another significant reshuffle.
Independent League A: Windermere Keeps Its Separation, but Innovation Is Now the Challenger
Windermere remains the clear No. 1 in Independent League A.
The Wolverines carry a 70.04 rating after beating Winter Park 29-26.
The gap behind them remains substantial, but the identity of the No. 2 team has changed.
Innovation moves from No. 3 in the preseason to No. 2 after beating Timber Creek 24-20.
Umatilla slips from second to third following a 43-7 loss to Space Coast.
Oasis climbs one spot to No. 4 after beating Southwest Florida Christian 18-14.
South Broward moves from No. 6 to No. 5 following a forfeit victory over Everglades.
Cooper City makes a two-place move to No. 6 after beating North Broward Prep 48-21.
Somerset Academy drops from No. 4 to No. 7 after losing 49-12 to American Heritage (Delray Beach).
Belen Jesuit enters the Power 10 at No. 8 after edging St. John Paul II 21-20.
Fort Lauderdale also enters, moving to No. 9 after beating Taravella 32-12.
Hallandale falls from No. 7 to No. 10 after a 49-0 loss to Nova.
Hollywood Hills and Oak Ridge fall out of the Power 10.
The most important number remains the gap at the top. Windermere is still nearly 24 points ahead of Innovation.
Week 2 gives the two teams a chance to address that directly.

Week 2 spotlight
No. 1 against No. 2.
There is no need to manufacture a storyline here.
Windermere travels to Innovation High School Stadium on Friday to face Innovation.
Windermere owns a large numerical advantage entering the game, but Innovation gets the opportunity every challenger wants: beat the leader on the field.
Umatilla hosts Providence at Umatilla High Stadium.
Oasis visits Mariner at Tony McKenna Stadium.
South Broward hosts No. 9 Fort Lauderdale at South Broward HS Stadium, giving the classification another direct Power 10 matchup.
Cooper City travels to Stoneman Douglas at Cumber Stadium on Thursday.
Somerset Academy is open.
Belen Jesuit visits Somerset Canyons at Cougar Field.
Hallandale travels to Blanche Ely at Robert L. Williams Stadium.
Independent League A began the season looking like Windermere and everyone else.
Friday gives Innovation a chance to change that description.
Independent League B: Mount Dora Christian Backs Up Its Preseason No. 1
Mount Dora Christian entered the season No. 1 in Independent League B.
The Bulldogs did something useful with the opportunity.
Mount Dora Christian beat NSU University School 49-35 and now carries a 63.35 rating.
That result is particularly valuable because NSU is No. 3 in SSAA 11-Man and remains inside the South Florida regional Power 25.
Lake Highland Prep remains No. 2 after beating St. Edward’s 20-14.
The Masters Academy jumps from No. 4 to No. 3 following a 38-22 win over Master’s Academy of Vero Beach.
Jay moves from No. 6 to No. 4 after beating Baker 35-6.
Oak Hall climbs from No. 8 to No. 5 following a 43-14 victory over Bronson.
Holy Trinity moves from No. 9 to No. 6 after beating Bayside 20-7.
Foundation Academy falls from No. 3 to No. 7 after losing 28-20 to Cornerstone Charter.
Central Florida Christian enters the Power 10 at No. 8 after beating Trinity Prep 40-17.
Southwest Florida Christian drops from No. 5 to No. 9 after an 18-14 loss to Oasis.
Providence falls from No. 7 to No. 10 after a 42-6 loss to Episcopal.
Santa Fe Catholic drops out after losing 81-7 to Lakeland Christian.
The top two remain intact, but nearly everything underneath them has been rearranged.

Week 2 spotlight
Mount Dora Christian travels to Santa Fe Catholic after opening with one of the stronger wins in the classification.
The most important direct Power 10 matchup is No. 2 Lake Highland Prep at No. 7 Foundation Academy at Lion Field.
Foundation Academy has an immediate opportunity to recover from its opening loss by beating the classification’s No. 2 team.
The Masters Academy hosts Father Lopez at Pennington Field.
Jay travels to Alabama to face Elberta at John T. Cobb Stadium.
Oak Hall hosts Bishop Snyder at Oak Hall Stadium.
Holy Trinity gets a challenging matchup with Class 3A No. 7 Titusville coming to Catherine A. Ford Field.
Southwest Florida Christian visits Marco Island Academy at Steve and Barbara Slaggie at Manta Ray Field.
Providence travels to Umatilla.
There was no Week 2 game listed for Central Florida Christian in the schedule provided.
Mount Dora Christian has the early separation.
The chase underneath the Bulldogs is already moving quickly.
IMG Academy National Remains in a Different World Among the Independents
The standalone independent classification still begins with one enormous gap.
IMG Academy National remains No. 1 with a 104.35 rating.
The Ascenders opened by beating Lone Peak (Utah) 59-3 and remain the No. 1 team in the entire statewide FPRI.
IMG Academy Junior National is No. 2 at 64.34 after shutting out Zarephath Academy 47-0.
That leaves exactly 40.01 points between first and second.
It is an unusual classification because IMG Academy National’s schedule and competitive profile are fundamentally different from most of the programs underneath it.
Coral Reef is third at 50.07 despite losing 14-0 to Archbishop Carroll.
Reagan sits fourth at 45.84 without a Week 1 result listed.
Cornerstone Charter climbs to No. 5 after beating Foundation Academy 28-20.
SFA Academy is sixth following a 37-0 loss to Jesuit.
Miami Beach rises to No. 7 after shutting out Coral Shores 41-0.
Hialeah Gardens moves to No. 8 following a forfeit victory over Hialeah-Miami Lakes.
Varela is ninth without a Week 1 result listed.
Zarephath Academy rounds out the Power 10 after the 47-0 loss to IMG Academy Junior National.
For almost every classification, the most interesting question is who can get to No. 1.
Here, the better question remains whether anyone can get remotely close.

IMG Academy National remains less a classification story than a statewide and national one.
That becomes even more important when we turn to the Florida Power 25.
The Broward County National High School Football Showcase Could Reach Across Several Classification Races
The Showcase is not confined to one part of these rankings.
Its impact stretches across multiple classifications and directly into the Florida Power 25.
Class 6A No. 3 West Broward opens against McEachern (Ga.) on Thursday at Western HS Stadium.
Class 2A No. 2 Chaminade-Madonna faces Sierra Canyon (Calif.) on Thursday at Heritage Field.
Class 4A No. 3 American Heritage (Plantation) gets East St. Louis (Ill.) on Friday at Heritage Field.
Bolles, No. 3 in Class 2A, travels to face Archbishop McCarthy of Class 5A at Maverick Stadium.
True North, No. 5 in Class 1A, visits Coconut Creek at Don Conkel Stadium.
Then Saturday brings two of the biggest games.
Columbus faces Bishop Gorman (Nev.) at Brian Piccolo Stadium after the Explorers’ 45-7 win over Miami Southridge produced one of the largest statewide jumps of Week 1.
St. Thomas Aquinas faces DeSoto (Texas) later that evening with the Raiders sitting No. 1 in Class 5A and No. 3 statewide.
Those games matter because the FPRI does not treat classifications as isolated islands.
An interstate result can influence a team’s own rating, the perception of its schedule and the network of opponents connected to it.
A strong Florida showing in the Showcase gives the system information.
So does a poor one.
And because several of the participants are already near the top of their classifications, the effects could become visible immediately in next week’s rankings.
The Classification Races Now Have Evidence Behind Them
Before Week 1, every classification had a starting order.
Now some of those orders have been challenged.
Lake Mary is still No. 1 in Class 6A, but West Orange and Seminole have surged into stronger positions.
St. Thomas Aquinas still leads Class 5A, but West Boca Raton is only 0.38 points behind.
Miami Northwestern remains atop Class 4A while St. Augustine moves into second and American Heritage absorbs the first major setback.
Raines still has control of Class 3A, but Merritt Island has entered the Power 10 after beating Cocoa 44-19.
Cardinal Newman and Chaminade-Madonna remain 1-2 in Class 2A while The First Academy has forced itself into the top four.
Hawthorne still leads Class 1A, but Lakeland Christian, Madison County and University Christian have all improved their positions.
Aucilla Christian has replaced Jupiter Christian atop SSAA 11-Man.
Merritt Island Christian has replaced Real Life Christian atop SSAA 8-Man.
Windermere still has substantial separation in Independent League A.
Mount Dora Christian backed up its Independent League B preseason No. 1 with a significant opening win.
And IMG Academy National remains in its own numerical territory among the standalone independents.
One week is not enough to settle any of this.
It is enough to start changing the questions.
Week 2 brings top-10 head-to-head games, cross-classification matchups, interstate challenges, national opponents and the Broward County National High School Football Showcase.
The preseason was about expectation.
Now the rankings have results to argue with.
