  1. I think they are maybe a 50-80 type team until they prove themselves, but they are a top 100 team this year. They have some skill players in the right spots. Judson is committed to Ohio State for a reason. Ohio State had their pick of QB's from any team in the nation, why Judson? USA Today quote "Junior QB Bruce Judson, an Ohio State commit (1,840 yards, 28 TDs passing, 755 yards and nine TDs rushing) leads an offense that averaged 39.9 points and 400 yards a game last season. Look for sophomore DE-RB Howard Stewart, who has an offer from Miami, to make a big impact on both sides of the ball. OT Jawaan Taylor leads the offensive line. The only question marks are the team’s young defense, led by CB-RB Chauncey Gardner, a Florida commit." Gardner is a play maker. The defense, some coming up from a JV team that shut out the season without giving up any points are that good. I know the schedule Cocoa has this season is really going to test Cocoa. IMG is doubtful Cocoa wins, St Edward will be a good game for Cocoa and also a good game for Mainland. Cocoa is going to open a few eyes this season. All I'm going to say is that there are some special players in the program this year and when the season starts they will show themselves. Now, I know BTW is going to be chomping on this all season. Glades Central is going to be chomping on this also, and Clewiston feels like they have a score to settle. It should be a strong playoff this season in 4A south. The team that goes to Orlando will be real. How do you see it?
  2. I guessing they are in for some debate over some of the schools they see as top 25. http://usatodayhss.com/2015/super-25-high-school-football-rankings-release So far we have this... I'll update as they come in. Rank Team 2014 Final Ranking 2014 record 25 Flanagan (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) Unranked 13-1 24 Bishop Amat (La Puente, Calif.) Unranked 9-4 23 South Panola (Batesville, Miss.) 12 15-0 22 Manvel (Manvel, Texas) Unranked 13-1 21 Webb City (Webb City, Mo.) 11 15-0 20 Chandler (Chandler, Ariz.) 16 14-0 19 St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) 15 13-2 18 Clay-Chalkville (Pinson, 19 15-0 17 Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, Va.) 10 15-0 16 Colquitt County (Molutrie, Ga.) 6 15-0 15 Paramus Catholic (Paramus, N.J.) 44 9-4 14 Cocoa (Cocoa, Fla.) 3. It would be fun seeing you guys take down BTW. The 4A championship will be hard fought for this year. Good luck and no injuries....
  4. Sounds like you will be staying in the Jacksonville area. Both the FSU vs Lou and the UCF vs Houston games will be about equal driving distance. About an hour. The UCF vs Houston would seem to have the most appeal for you, Texas vs Florida thang. HS games... 10-22 10-23 Oakleaf plays at Creekside in Jacksonville. Oakleaf was undefeated regular season last year and lost to Niceville in the regional final. Bolles plays at Frenandina Beach. Bolles was the last team to beat Booker T Washington for the championship. MC beat them 2nd the following season.
  5. As long as Corky Rogers is there then their program will be competitive. When he leaves I bet they hire a big name coach to replace him. Raines challenged Bolles the last few years by beating them in the regular season but then Bolles extracts revenge by beating Raines when it counts most. In the playoffs. I would love to see GC return to greatness. You have some good programs south of Orlando.
  6. I think the last we played GC was when Glades had D1 WR Kevin Benjamin and we had D1 RB Chevelle Buie. Ironically both missed the game. That was a very close game right up to the last set of downs.
  7. I pull for most of the Brevard teams but to the point, My son played for Cocoa so I hollar for them.
  8. I have to say that Clewiston was on a mission last year and if they can keep some of that rampage attitude this year then they will be a team to reckon with. Shoot, Glades Central sound like they are on the warpath. Maybe 4A is gonna be a real show stopper this year. Ain't nuthin for sure when it comes to HS football.
  9. MC may have the best defense in the Nation this year. Tie that with a better offense than last year and I see a team that could play a tight game with IMG.or anyone in the nation. Mainland is a good team and will give most teams a real test, but this year isn't the year for Mainland over MC. I don't see it being really close. Maybe 35-14 Miami winning it. Really would have like to see MC vs STA or IMG.
  10. It will be a great game for both teams. Bolles plays like a 6 or 7A team depending on how big their O-line is. Corky Rogers is a legend. Last few years they haven't really challenged the big dogs so maybe he thinks they have something this year.
  11. Noted, thank you. Will make the changes. You are correct in both cases.
  12. here is a quick look at 7A. Open to changes. 1. STA - The call went out and the transfers came. Harriott will get it done as HC. 2. Oakleaf - Brings back everything that was good from last season. Balanced team. Watch out for this sleeper team. 3. Lakeland - Loaded on defense, Offense will need to play well. Castle can coach up a wet noodle, watch out when he has talent.. 4. Tate - High powered offense. Balanced attack. Lost some defense but still has talent. Will score a lot. 5. Viera - New team that believes, only lost 3 Sr, to grad. Will be better focused. Weak schedule killed them last year. Allen Texas is licking their chops. 6. Braden River 1 loss season to state champ STA. Returns a lot on both sides of the line. Tough division. 7. Winter Springs - Bringing back talent on both sides. Also a tough division. 8. Lincoln - Returns their leading offensive players. Lost some on defense but has lots of depth. Should be no surprise to see them in Orlando again. 9. Plant - With Culpepper out they will struggle on offense. However they return a stellar defense. The Offense will only have to score a few. 10. Columbia - Experience and leadership will help get the team into the playoffs. They will see plenty of challenges on their way to the big show. Removed due to class changes. 2. Osceola - Offense will challenge even STA this year. Sack leaders return, but defense will be the question. Now 8A 10. Crestview - Depth, brings back a lot on both sides of the line. Will challenge Lincoln in the North. Once a power, maybe one more time. Down to 6A
  13. If it's true and Culpepper is in the pits for the season then I feel Plant will drop 4 or 5 spots but not out all together. Not sure what they have in the north west panhandle, I have little info on any of those teams. Crestview, Ft. Walton Beach< Pensacola Cath, Niceville, etc...Anything from that area? My indepth knowledge is mostly in 4A. If order of ranking I would have BTW, Cocoa, Bolles, Clewiston and Raines in that order. BTW at the top until they are beaten by another 4A team. DJ made a bold move ranking Cocoa over BTW.
  14. Raines beat Bolles regular season 2 years running but lost to them in the playoffs. Call it Bolles revenge... so there is another team in 4A north that has potential. Never say never.
  15. Something to think about. In 2011 Cocoa took BTW into OT. BTW pulled the rabbit out of the hat on a 4th and 15 busted FG when Harris scrambled and threw a desperation pass for a TD. They missed the Xtra point attempt. It was good enough for the win after BTW sacked Cocoa on 3rd and 4th downs. 2012 BTW finished in the top 25 nationally and defeated a very young Cocoa Team. Cocoa doesn't get the transfers like BTW. BTW was National Champs in 2013 and rightly so. They totally smashed Cocoa in the regional final. They also defeated Nationally top 25 teams along the way to their Nat Championship season. How soon we forget. 2014, Cocoa held BTW to the fewest points of the season and lost by 2 points. That young is maturing. 2915, Cocoa has arrived. The team that saw BTW in 2012 has grown up. Add this game to the list of teams that have a chance to end the streak.
  16. Gerald Odom was the coach that changed Cocoa. It started with the hiring of Chuck Goldfarb, ex MI AD, who talked Odom out of retirement to coach at Cocoa. Odom then hires young gun John Wilkenson after MI turned him down. There was a special magic in Brevard from thre 60's all the way up to now. It has always been more than a one team county. Championship teams from Brevard off the top of my head. Melbourne in the 60's Merritt Island in the 70's Palm Bay/Titusville in the 80's, Rockledge in the 90's Cocoa in the 00's
  17. Looks like you will have to go through Clewiston, BTW, and Cocoa to get to Bolles for the championship. There are some bangers on those teams. Bolles ain't soft either. Corky is getting old and will it show in December?
  18. The hate runs deep for this academy. Lots of transfers in the south area but it's not cool to recruit? Shame on you all.
  19. My Pre-Season top 25. 1. IMG - USA All Star team. Every poistion has a star player. HC? Hell, let the dads coach. 2. STA - Harriott has the chance to prove he is the future. Another all star roster. 3. MC - Gang Busters on Defense every year, they love to hit. Offense is better this year. 4. Flanagan - Been there, almost done that. They will "get-r-done", Experiance helps. 5. Mainland - Always a respectable team on the field. Like Cocoa, the south has their number. 6. American Heritage Plantation - QB has 3 decent WR's. Strong RB. Defense... ? 7. Apopka - When you think you got em, they kick your face in. The offense will be there in December again. 8. Columbus (Miami) - Depth... They like running under the radar. Who are they again. Find out in the playoffs. 9. Venice - Always in the mix but seems to be 1 or 2 plays short of winning it. Another team with Depth. 10. Coconut Creek - Put the lime in the Coconut. The D can knock you out but can they score enough. Tuff division. 11. Booker T. Washington - Never overlook these goons. They get players right out of the oven ready to serve you an ass whoopin.. 12. Wakulla - Sounds like a Hawaian Drink, but this one has a real punch. O and D are above average. Can they put it together? 13. Hallendale - Not high on this team but others think they got something. Prove you are better than AH Palm Bay. 14. Manatee - Oh Yea of so little faith... even with all the crap they went through they will ball better than most. 15. Dr. Phillips - Always loaded, always short in the playoffs. Coach needs to figure it out. 16. Tampa Plant - slow to start, strong finish. Culpepper will grow up fast this year. 17. Cocoa - All Sr's are game changers. Defense will be better. Strong Jr class coming in. 2 kickers. 18. West Orange - Good O-line, balanced attack. Above average Defense. Depth. Will challenge 8A. 19. Osceola - They should win 7A north again just to meet STA in the finals. Can we get Lakeland in here please. 20. American Heritage Delray - Also repsect the Heritage teams. Tranfers help with decent coaching. I want to send my Grand kids here. 21. Lakeland - The teams that gets a ton of trash talk but they can beat almost anyone.. 22. Trinity Christian Jacksonville - they lose star players but return enough decent talent. 3A Championship will be worth watching. 23. Heritage Palm Bay - Young team coming out of Brevard. Returns nearly the entire team. Should be a team to watch. 24. Miramar - Hard to place Miramar this year. So many changes, so little time. Depth and tanacity will get them through the season. 25. Oxbridge Academe - No one knows who they are, but they know who they are and that's what counts. Graduated 3 off the team.Brining back a on. Many very good tems that are in the 25 to 40 area IMHO.
  20. BTW vs Bingham. If you missed this game you missed a thriller. 2 mins to go and BTW needs to drive the field to tie. Pass heavy drive with smart sideline play. BTW scores with 18 ticks left. OT, BTW shuts Bingham down on the first series and Walton busts through for a score. BTW wins by 6. 4A was once again a top class in Florida.
  21. I agree with this post. Trinity vs Eastside will be as good or better than the BYW vs Bingham. Not sure about Bothel vs MC but I have a feeling that this one will be a good game also. I just hope this Bowl series goes really well and it makes the investor's money so that they do it again next year. I was planning on going to all the games but I will be going to my son-in-laws dads funeral instead. I do have it on record so I will watch them the very first chance I get. I just hope I have enough discipline to not look up the scores before I get to watch the games.
  22. Cocoa and Mainland will play in 2015. Cocoa is also talking to a very good Georgia team. With the district changes, Lake Highland Prep is added to the district and will be another running clock game. Honestly I do not see anyone in Cocoa's district giving them much of a game. With a good Georgia team and Mainland, plus the 4A playoffs there is hope for a decent season. Wilks was looking for a game out west but I'm not hearing anything lately. Meaning no one wants to play Cocoa from the western side of the divide, but it's still early.
  23. Cocoa's district play took a turn for the softer side, but they scheduled Mainland for an OOD game. Also they have 2 OOS games that are on the chalk board but waiting for the Brevard board to ok them. One maybe a Texas 5A and the other a 4A Georgia team in a Fla vs Geo challenge. 4 teams from both states. That will leave one more game and Wilks is trying for some big fish.
  24. I didn't mean to imply that Cocoa was building an easy schedule with 2 moderately decent teams and one power team. I meant that Wilks always plays/goes after a top ranked team and that he will add 2 more OOS teams that are fringe top 100 teams. I have some info on the teams he is lining up and I will say that 1 of them he is trying to get is a top 10 team from the west coast. Another is a decent school that will come to Florida of the same size as Cocoa that plays tough football and has been ranked in the top 100 many times in the past but not in the top 10. There is one other OOS team that's been in the top 100 in the last few years but it's just being thrown out there for now. Wilks will defiantly challenge his team in 2015.
  25. I agree with "they wont be back because the never went anywhere". They have always been right there in the frofront with BTW since Harris came back to BTW and Wilks took over at Cocoa. It will only get better in the next few years. Cocoa returns a lot of talent and BTW reloads and pulls in from a large talented area. If Cocoa goes north it will get interesting in 4A. I'm thinking Wilks is ahead of most in planning for that with the schedule he is building. Several OOS of moderate strength and 1 power team to boost the SOS. In my opinion Cocoa needs an undefeated schedule when facing BTW next year to make it a mega game if they land in the North and Cocoa wins the Nort it will be fun to see what happens.
