  1. The Stars were out Friday night... IMG has a great QB in Patterson and a compliment of WR's to match his talent. The first stringer offense for IMG only needed the ball for about 10 seconds to put a hurt on Cocoa's defense. The passing for IMG is that good. However, IMG had many holding penalties. I've never seen as many holding calls or personal fouls, at least 8 PF's, as I saw Friday night. Add 2 unnecessary roughness and that was how it went. Cocoa may have had 3 fouls called against them in 4 quarters of play. The Ref's were on top of it all night and called it fairly well in my opinion. On the bright side for Cocoa. They stopped IMG's run game for most of the night and Timmy Pratt ran for about 5 yards a carry through that very big D-line. Judson was hurt in the middle of the first quarter and that ruined any chance for a passing game. IMG was loading the line on defense but Pratt still ground out at least a 100 yards. Judson was taken out after a fairly late hit in the ribs after a pass that took him out of the game. Hopefully he will be back for the St. Edward game. I take my hat off to AHP even though IMG sat some of their star players for that game. Not to take any credit from AHP because they put it on IMG, but sitting 3 of your top players can make a little difference. 'If any team beats IMG this year in regular season play I will be surprised. They are truly an All-Star team with some top caliber athletes. This will be a telling year for the Ascenders, first DeSoto, then Miramar and now Cocoa had a big hurt put on them. I'm here to tell the HS football world that recruiting a national all-star team isn't close to being on the same playing level, they are a level above the rest. The talent IMG assembled is impressive. It was easy to see 3 future NFL talent level guys on that field last night for IMG. Patterson, Nauta, and Smith should have a career in Football. For Cocoa, Pratt and Taylor were there to play at the same level. Too bad Judson was hurt so early in the game. Was looking forward to seeing if he could pass on the IMG defense. Pratt and Taylor were outstanding against that all-star team. IMG looks like they are ready for the next level and it will be interesting to see what they do in New Jersey at Bergen next week. Want to see if they can stop their running attack, and if Guarantano can pass on that huge defense. Should be a telling game to see if Cocoa and the rest of the teams that lost to IMG are that bad or if IMG is really that good. IMG does have a nice facility. All very professional and NFL standards all they way. The ex Chicago Bears QB and IMG coach, Steve Walsh, seemed like an excellent guy. He came over and chatted with the Cocoa side for awhile.
  2. Year to Year you never know what region some teams will be in. Cocoa used to be north then south then north and now south. Same with a lot of the border schools I guess. I guess I could do a top Central Florida list this weekend but right now I'm headed over to IMG to watch tonight's game.
  3. I know Manatee is going through the ringer right now but you still have 8 games left and a lot of time to fix things. Maybe they stumbled at Hoover this year but they should have enough to get into the playoffs. Once in they are a hard out but Flanagan, Apopka, Columbus, Osceola, and West Orange are going to be tough. 8A has a lot of decent teams this year. Just my humble opinion.
  4. 1 IMG 2 Mainland 3 Lakeland 4 Dr. Phillips 5 Bishop Moore 6 West Orange 7 Oakleaf 8 Trinity Jax 9 Osceola 10 Apopka 11 Bolles 12 Armwood 13 Winter Haven 14 Columbia 15 Escambia 16 Wakulla 17 Raines 18 North Marion 18 Manatee 20 Navarre 21 Plant 22 Mandarin 23 Choctawhatchee 24 Niceville 25 Tate Debate? Most teams can move up by winning with a good schedule.
  5. If anyone is going to be at the game can you do updates?
  6. Hope mainland goes undefeated all the way to the championship game or we will never hear the end of it from the northern posters.
  7. Columbia in a close one. Lincoln comes back in the playoffs and smokes the field.
  8. That's a good sign that they knew they were still in it with 5 mins left. When you have the tradition BTW has, you can bet the athletes will play to the last tick. I certain they have the talent even if it is young. Sounds like your QB down there is going to be a good one to watch in the coming years.
  9. I agree also. Coaching will be the biggest difference one way or the other. The WR's will learn to catch the ball before taking their eyes off it and making that first step toward the goal line. They will mature soon enough but not for the STA game.
  10. The biggest mistake STA can make is to take BTW lightly. It happens when you load a team with stars. They think they can take it easy in practice and still win.
  11. You nailed it... IMG better have better receivers that what they came out with Saturday night. AHP made the passing null and void.
  12. Some interesting games this preseason. Eyebrow raise at the AHP vs IMG game. Who would have thought that AHP would come out looking like they were still playing from 2014. I think IMG was caught off gaurd at the intensity that AHP brought up to Bradenton. Paterson is a complete QB and had he had some receivers that could catch I think they play a better game. Credit to the AHP defense, they played like beasts and shutdown the passing game. BTW vs North Marion. Both came out slow and it was easy to see it was a preseason game. NM has a little more mustard that I thought they would have, while BTW has a little less. I expect both will improve and BTW should be fine when the playoffs roll around. The BTW vs STA game should still be a great game. Winter Haven vs Columbus. Maybe we need to take a closer look at Winter Haven. I understand it is preseason and that Columbus made their share of mistakes but give Winter Haven it's due for being on top when the clock ticked 0. I didn't see it coming. Coconut Creek in a squeaker. I expected more for Coconut Creek. Maybe they are a little higher ranked than they should be unless Deerfield Beach is better than they are getting credit for. And for the love of God guys... Don't bring your heaters to the game. If it's that bad stay home... Cocoa vs Titusville. Much better game than the score shows. Cocoa did what they were expected to do. They came out slow but got it together in the 2nd half. You could see the rust falling off as the game progressed. Titusville, I was impress with Titusville. Their QB looked fantastic and He should get offers before seasons end. Very accurate with lots of zip, even on the deep ball. The receivers were exceptional. All hands. They were much better that what I was seeing from the IMG guys. Yes, I said it. The Titusville receivers looked better than the IMG receivers. Maybe 4 dropped passes all night, 2 were knocked out by the defense, and the other 2 came of the pads. One completion was on a slant in traffic and the receiver reached behind him and made a one hand catch, pulled it in just before getting smashed between 2 defenders. If Titusville can stay healthy, I see them going a long way into the playoffs. Give us your take on your games this weekend. We want to know why your team will have a decent season.
  13. Oxbridge Academy vs. Fort Pierce Central? Glades Central? Cocoa vs Titusville, 38-13 Cocoa.
  14. Thank You sportsnut. This is a heads up that I will copy and paste to my computer.
  15. Well good luck to you guys this season. Hope to see you guys get back to being a Florida Power.
  16. Hallandale will be an easier game than what you will get with STA. If Dillard can make the STA A-game competitive then I give them a real chance in the Hallandale game. Even if the Panthers get it handed to them by STA Dillard will still be fighting for the District lead. According to a few people that I've seen Lake Gidson will be better than they have been in the last few years. It may be a good game which will be good for Dillard because it will help the coaches figure out the weaknesses. Winning District should be top priority at this point. Anderson, Boynton, Plantation and Northeast will be good games. Depending on Dillards attitude and confidence they could run it, they should have the skill players to. Looks to be a competitive schedule for Dillard. The Coach is giving them the chance to test themselves and even win district. You never know when it is going to be your year. As a coach I've taken teams that I didn't really think had a chance and ran the table. I was as surprised as many of the other teams. It sure taught me to always believe you can win no matter how great the odds. All in All what really matters to Dillard at this point is playing tough teams to get them ready for Recessionals after winning the district, and I don't see Anderson or Boynton beating you guys out. Didn't I read somewhere that the Panthers have a decent QB that transferred in? I'm putting my eggs on you saying yes. That would be a deal breaker if not and you can erase everything I just wrote. No matter, because both teams in your district are breaking in new QB's.
  17. I agree, but it ain't ever gonna change until Raines takes Bolles out of the playoffs cause FHSAA wants Bolles in the finals.
  18. Yes sir, Cocoa comes south this year unless they get beat before then.
  19. I hope you are right sir...
  20. IMG is going to be a tough win for any team this season.
  21. I think they are maybe a 50-80 type team until they prove themselves, but they are a top 100 team this year. They have some skill players in the right spots. Judson is committed to Ohio State for a reason. Ohio State had their pick of QB's from any team in the nation, why Judson? USA Today quote "Junior QB Bruce Judson, an Ohio State commit (1,840 yards, 28 TDs passing, 755 yards and nine TDs rushing) leads an offense that averaged 39.9 points and 400 yards a game last season. Look for sophomore DE-RB Howard Stewart, who has an offer from Miami, to make a big impact on both sides of the ball. OT Jawaan Taylor leads the offensive line. The only question marks are the team’s young defense, led by CB-RB Chauncey Gardner, a Florida commit." Gardner is a play maker. The defense, some coming up from a JV team that shut out the season without giving up any points are that good. I know the schedule Cocoa has this season is really going to test Cocoa. IMG is doubtful Cocoa wins, St Edward will be a good game for Cocoa and also a good game for Mainland. Cocoa is going to open a few eyes this season. All I'm going to say is that there are some special players in the program this year and when the season starts they will show themselves. Now, I know BTW is going to be chomping on this all season. Glades Central is going to be chomping on this also, and Clewiston feels like they have a score to settle. It should be a strong playoff this season in 4A south. The team that goes to Orlando will be real. How do you see it?
  22. I guessing they are in for some debate over some of the schools they see as top 25. http://usatodayhss.com/2015/super-25-high-school-football-rankings-release So far we have this... I'll update as they come in. Rank Team 2014 Final Ranking 2014 record 25 Flanagan (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) Unranked 13-1 24 Bishop Amat (La Puente, Calif.) 23. It would be fun seeing you guys take down BTW. The 4A championship will be hard fought for this year. Good luck and no injuries....
  24. Sounds like you will be staying in the Jacksonville area. Both the FSU vs Lou and the UCF vs Houston games will be about equal driving distance. About an hour. The UCF vs Houston would seem to have the most appeal for you, Texas vs Florida thang. HS games... 10-22 10-23 Oakleaf plays at Creekside in Jacksonville. Oakleaf was undefeated regular season last year and lost to Niceville in the regional final. Bolles plays at Frenandina Beach. Bolles was the last team to beat Booker T Washington for the championship. MC beat them 2nd the following season.
  25. As long as Corky Rogers is there then their program will be competitive. When he leaves I bet they hire a big name coach to replace him. Raines challenged Bolles the last few years by beating them in the regular season but then Bolles extracts revenge by beating Raines when it counts most. In the playoffs. I would love to see GC return to greatness. You have some good programs south of Orlando.
