I know he had over 4400 for the season and over 15000 for his career. He was on the right team at the right time. Hopefully he can preform as well at the next level.

Source: Florida close to hiring Jon Gruden I asked myself why would Gruden even consider coaching on the college level. My reasoning was that his first debt is to his family which is rooted in Tampa. Second is the stress of college level football isn't near the same level as coaching pros. Third, he has a chance to do the recruiting and development of young athletes. And last, while making a great sum being a common tater, rumored to be 4 million, the salary Florida would pay would be around the same at 4 million. Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden has agreed to an exclusive agreement with ESPN that will keep him on sports television's signature series and out of coaching for the next five years. The new contract begins in September 2012. In a recent interview with Real Sports though, Gruden sounds much less certain than his employer over that agreement saying while he's turned down several opportunities to get back into coaching, he would return under the right circumstances. When pressed by Bryant Gumbel, Gruden said he would come back for the right opportunity. "I don't know,'' Gruden said. "I'm trying to figure out where I'm going. If the right opportunity presents itself, I will come back.''

They Backed out of Cocoa's game also. Bet they have a hard time finding anyone decent to play next year. If I'm a coach I say no way, you're just going to back out on us if we start to win. Fire the Coach!!!

Cocoa travels to Clewiston, BTW travels to the winner of that game.

Bayside needs to beat Heritage to take District. If they lose they are in a 3 way tie with South Fork and Heritage Palm Bay. One good team will not make the playoffs. Any other playoff spots on the line?
-
From Brevard Palm Bay Should end 7-2. In District Losses to Viera and Titusville. Heritage vs Bayside. Bayside could clinch District with a win. A loss forces a 3 way tie.

Senior Tucker Israel of Orlando, Fla., Lake Nona became the state’s all-time leader in touchdown passes. The Clemson recruit now has 127 after a pair of scoring strikes in a 28-6 win over Kissimmee, Fla., Gateway. Israel set the Florida record for career completions and passing yards earlier this season.

Cat_Scratch replied to BrowardHandicapper's topic in The Huddle
I predict this will be a great game from start to finish with Miramar squeaking out the win. Wait... Flanagan squeaks out the win. -
Will Treon play now or is he still out?

Here's the full text of a press release sent to local media by Gainesville lawyer Huntley Johnson in regards to Treon Harris, his client. We are releasing this statement in an attempt to help clarify the circumstances surrounding the investigation of Treon Harris. The status of Mr. Harris as a student at the University of Florida is that he was given an interim suspension pending a resolution by the administration of the University. After an appeal of the decision to suspend Mr. Harris, the University decided to allow Mr. Harris to continue his online courses. Because he is not allowed on campus, Mr. Harris is currently not attending those classes which occur in a classroom. In terms of the criminal case, as most of you are aware, the University released a redacted police report yesterday evening. Currently, Mr. Harris has not been arrested and the criminal investigation is ongoing. First, we want to dispel the idea that the alleged victim and our client didn't know each other. Our client and the alleged victim knew each other to the extent that they had each other's cell phone numbers and had previously spent time together of their own accord for the purpose of socializing together. We want to dispel the idea and rumors floating around that our client forced his way into the alleged victim's apartment. Those rumors are patently false. Mr. Harris has never been inside the young lady's room. We understand that all of the evidence was gathered from our client's room, which is where the interaction between the two parties took place. We know that an individual has given testimony to law enforcement that he had sexual relations with the alleged victim less than an hour before the alleged sexual conduct with our client took place. In fact, testimony indicates that the young lady in question was the sexual aggressor in that interaction. Our investigation has produced no evidence whatsoever that the young lady in question was impaired. We have provided law enforcement with multiple witnesses that will indicate what the interaction was between the alleged victim and our client before they returned to our client's room: they were smiling and they were holding hands. They returned to the Springs Residential Complex in a car driven by another female student who was a friend of the alleged victim. We have provided multiple text messages to the authorities investigating this incident. These texts were exchanged among the alleged victim, Mr. Harris, and the other gentleman mentioned above. When these text messages are released, they will show that the young woman making these allegations initiated the conduct with Mr. Harris while he was still in the locker room in Knoxville. Shortly after the team plane landed, texting continued between Mr. Harris and the alleged victim. We believe the evidence will show the alleged victim was in fact in the sexual aggressor with not one, but two young men early last Sunday morning. Misstatements in the media to date have painted a picture that is inconsistent with the evidence. That said, we have fully cooperated with this investigation. Mr. Harris agreed to a search of his dorm room. Mr. Harris agreed to a search of his phone. Mr. Harris gave a voluntary statement to law enforcement. We have turned over at least six (6) eyewitnesses to the events in questions to law enforcement. We have turned over the text messages to law enforcement. We have suggested to law enforcement multiple locations from which they should secure video surveillance. We have provided law enforcement with information gathered from the Internet that this young woman posted on Sunday, after the alleged misconduct, where she is smiling and happy. There is no indication of any physical or mental trauma. We have previously indicated that we do not believe that Mr. Harris will be arrested or prosecuted. That is because of our experience and the facts of this case. He is not guilty of a crime and he did not mistreat this young lady in any way that night.

Non homer game. Jefferson vs Norland in 2010. Both teams played a flawless first half. The game was very even in talent. The second half started the same, but near the end of the 3rd quarter Jefferson started winning the battle in the trenches. I'll never forget the 1st half and how prefect both teams played. Homer Game. Cocoa vs Abilene Tx. 2010. Cocoa played the then #1 Nationally ranked team Abilene in Texas. No one gave Cocoa a chance to win, but Cocoa played their guts out and pulled the all time upset beating Abilene 24-21, Younger to Buie on a bomb for 75 yards to win. Younger had an arm and Buie had the speed. Younger threw it for all he was worth and Buie ran under it. The ball seemed to hang in the air forever and was prefectly thrown. It was the play that put Cocoa on the National HSF map. Abilene went on to beat state runner up Tampa Plant, the following week 27-17. Plant lost to STA in the Championship game. Cocoa's defense was ranted #2, only behind a very solid offensive and defensive STA team.

Thanks Josh. I was using Maxpreps for the scores and that is why I said Corrections may be needed. I pulled the East Lake score before they could verify it. And Maxpreps is known for getting the scores wrong. I use their scores because they put them out quickly. Should be fixed.

Cocoa vs Raines Was a very humid night. The wind was absolute dead. Just plain muggy. Just like the game, muggy. Both teams looked flat, until Jusdon ripped off a 92 yard TD run, to put Cocoa on the board to end the First Quarter. Raines has a decent QB and WR combo hitting several deep passes for scores, while Judson and Dean hooked up for a score. End of the half with Raines in the lead 14, Cocoa 13. Second half was much better for both teams. Both hit some long passes for big yards and runs that kept drives going. All in all it was a very good match up with Cocoa coming out on top. Raines should be playing Bolles again in the playoffs, but like last year, Rogers will make changes and 4A north should see Bolles in the championship game again. -

I agree, open forum with Football, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Track and Wrestling seem to be the ones that generate threads. Tennis, Golf, Swimming, Bowling, etc... could all have a side link but I doubt there would be many visitors. La Cross seems to be catching on in High School so be open to putting something up for that.

Didn't Clewiston beat the crap out of Ely? That's who GC should be worried about because I know Cocoa is taking Clewiston as serious as they are BTW. In other areas of 4A. Raines just beat Bolles and Cocoa plays Raines tonight, should be interesting. -
For the record, I think kids that do virtual school should be allowed to play High School sports as long as they meet the same criteria as a student enrolled at the school. No bending the rules like in this thread. It's a reflection of the parent since the parent took on the responsibility as overseer of the students education. Home schooling is also a big responsibility for the student. A lot of parents trust their child to be studding while they are at work, and instead in some cases the student will be surfing or playing games all day long. It's an easy way to fail if both the parent and student don't take it serious. To stop parents from doing the work for the student, the student must go to a center and be tested for progress, and at the end of each course the student will take a final. My daughter excelled at virtual school because she was away from the drama that some students seem to live for, my daughter included. We set up her work area at my wife's antique store so that we could keep her focused. She also helped run my wife's shop when she wasn't studding. So it works for some, but not others. The reason my daughter was attending private school was because of the drama of Jr High. and she was having to many issue's with boys so we put her in a private school. When the private school closed 2 years later she chose to try Virtual school as an option to public school. She should graduate this December with a GED after doing this for 2 years, or she could go another year and get her high school diploma. She chose the GED so she could enter college a year sooner. So it really is up to the student and the parent because they both have to be responsible, and if the parent fails then there is a good chance the student fails also.

Calpreps has Cocoa ranked at 532, and Trinity Catholic at 85. Cocoa traveled to the Northern part of Kentucky to play Trinity. Trinity paid for the airfare and the Hotel if what I've heard is true. The game started at 7:30 last Friday night and the weather was perfect. The field is the same artificial surface they use in the NFL. Top notch stadium to say the least. Trinity is a very rich school because of the alumni support. Trinity dressed 80 players while Cocoa dressed 30. The cheerleaders for Cocoa displayed a banner that read "30 Players, 1 heartbeat". It fired up the Trinity fans. The student body was very boisterous understandably. Cocoa's opening kick was received at the 10 and returned to the 43 or about. Trinity went 3 and out and punted. Cocoa receives the punt at the 5. Cocoa, runs for a first then passes for a 75 yard TD. Cocoa 7, Trinity 0. Trinity returns the kick to the Cocoa 45, Cocoa kicker injured and taken off the field and transported out. Brooks takes Trinity down the field with some very good power running mixed with great O-line play. Trinity passing game isn't clicking, but Brooks is, TD. Their senior QB was out due to injuries but released to play this week, you will see him the second half. Cocoa takes kick to midfield but is called for holding, the ball is place at the 14. Cocoa gets a first down and then held to a 3rd and 11. Trinity takes the ball to the 32 after a 20 yard punt. Trinity scores on a TD pass on 3rd and 10. Trinity 14 Cocoa 7. Cocoa takes the kick to the 30. Trinity has PI called keeping the drive alive. Cocoa scores on a run. Tied 14-14. Trinity fair catches at the 40. Penalties force a punt, Cocoa has the ball at their 40. Judson to Dean on a deep pass, TD. Cocoa misses extra point. 20- 14 Cocoa. Kick is out of bounds, Trinity ball at the 35. 3 and Out for Trinity. Cocoa lets the punt roll dead at the 20. Judson to Dean for another TD. Cocoa tries for 2 but stopped on the one. 26-14 Cocoa. Cocoa kicks it out of bounds again. Trinity starts at the 35 again. Brooks is a beast running over tacklers in gains of 4 and 5 yards per. Brooks rips one off for 20. Trinity moving the ball. QB fumbles the hand off, A nice drive killed by the Sophomore QB. His time is limited. Cocoa takes over at the 27, 3 and out. Punt is a beauty. Trinity hits a deep pass and Brooks takes the ball inside the redzone. Brooks is unstoppable, Trinity first and goal with 45 seconds in the half. Trinity throw a interception, Cocoa kneels to end the half. Cocoa take the kick to start the second. Cocoa takes the ball on the 20, drives to the T46, 3rd and 6. 4th and 2. Trinity takes over on downs, nice stop. New QB for Trinity as they send in their senior. 3 and out, Trinity punts. After a very nice punt to the 5, Cocoa gets a first and then drops a sure TD pass, Dean was all alone at midfield, the ball was right on the numbers, he's gotta feel sick. Cocoa punts, mishandled by Trinity but they recover at the 46. Cocoa is looking tired, but still lots of time left. This could be bad for Cocoa. Couple of flags thrown Cocoa's way. Mistakes are keeping the drive alive. Trinity on Cocoa's 37, 4th and one Trinity going for it. Brooks gains 3 yards on sheer strength, he runs like Peterson. Always getting yards after being hit. TD Pass Trinity on a well defended WR. Senior QB has a decent arm. Nice accurate throw into coverage. Game on, Cocoa 26, Trinity 21. Trinity pumped up and going crazy. Cocoa takes the kick to the 39. 3 and out, bad snap, Gardner has to leap to catch the snap and the defenders are swarming him, he get about 15 yards but short of the 1st down. Trinity takes over on a short field. Trinity feeds Brooks the ball, he is running his heart out. 5, 10, 15, Brooks is hitting holes hard and gaffing Cocoa's D. Brooks runs in for a TD. 28-26, Trinity takes the lead. PF called on Trinity, will accessed on the kick. The fans are going crazy. Cocoa takes the kick to the 50. Cocoa is feeding Weaver the ball, he still looks healthy and getting some yards. Cocoa drives in for a TD, but misses extra point, Cocoa takes the lead back. 32-28 Cocoa. Kick goes out of bounds again for the 4th time. Trinity is feeding Brooks the ball, he is unstoppable. Brooks will have over 200 yards if he keeps it up. TD Brooks, 35 - 32 Trinity takes the lead back. 10 minutes left. Cocoa 3 and out. Trinity with 9 minutes left, the 3 missed extra points are really looking bad for Cocoa right now. Trinity takes the ball to the 45 on a short kick. Brooks takes it to the 25. 4 minutes left. Brooks to the 20, Brooks to the 12. First and goal at the 8. Holding Trinity, declined, 2nd and goal from the 11. Brooks to the 3, 3rd and goal. Brooks to the 2, Brooks hit in the back field for a 1 yard loss. Cocoa ball with 1:50 left. Weaver run to the 15 gives Cocoa some room. Cocoa slow to get the ball off, 1:20 on the clock. Judson to Dean, Dean tackled before the ball is to him, no PI called, Cocoa fans booing, Trinity fans cheering. It was a PI. It's the only bad call tonight, and at the worse time. Judson runs out of bounds and gains another 1st. Clock with 52 ticks now. Weaver run up the middle gets 7 yards, why run now when you have Judson and Dean??? Cocoa with another run, omg, are you kidding me??? 3rd Time out called. Judson drops to pass, WR's are covered, Judson is sacked, 1st of the night. 4th and 3 with 42 seconds left, Cocoa is near the 50. Judson drops back, receivers are scrambling, Judson heads for the sideline and is stopped a yard short. 35 seconds left and Trinity takes over on downs. Trinity is in the victory formation. Kneels twice and ends the game. Have to say it was exciting and that doesn't really make it sound as good as the game was. A very talented Cocoa was evenly matched up against a very talented school. It was David vs Goliath. Trinity had the depth to take it all 4 quarters while Cocoa looked tired at the start of the 4th yet they never quit. I have to say that no team Cocoa's size in America will beat them. They looked that good that night. The injured Kicker will play for Cocoa for another 4 years. His parents are behind him and are very supportive. It is really a shame he is injured so early in the season. As an 8th grader, he will have many opportunities ahead of him, and I hope to see him on the field in December.

Just to keep the board talking I thought I would bring up this game. Both teams are about even talent wise. Cocoa may have a little more octane on Defense while Trinity looks about even on offense, talent wise. Special team play could be the factor, isn't that what they say when 2 teams are matched up fairly well? It the old saying holds true then it could be a long ride home for Cocoa, but my gut is saying that Cocoa will bring their game to Kentucky and play their hearts out. They need this OOS win for the respect that it will bring back to Florida. I can't give an honest opinion on the score since I'm bias toward Cocoa, so I'll just say that the game could be decided by a FG, and our 8th grade kicker better start practicing for the biggest kick of his life. lol... Any thoughts?
