  1. Not really...They lost a lot to graduation and a few transferred out (including coaches). I believe Carol City and MNW might be in better shape on paper right now . I believe they both have had a few transfer in.....perhaps more then Miami Central.
  2. Heard the same but can't confirm. Lots of young talent still over there at Champagnat Catholic ....Hopefully the Lions can stay a little intact. Only likely 2A South team that has a chance to compete at States....
  3. Of course many know the state champion/all american wrestler out of Kathleen who also had a pretty good NFL career.
  4. I here ya....I believe Mater Academy is also considered a public school as well. They are basically public charter schools, I guess.... Academy is a broad word in SFL....Whatever sells I guess. Cypress Bay faired decent in 3A , only a 1/2 point behind STA at States. Coral Springs performed respectable I guess. Overall, you are right the once dominant teams are all pretty much non-existent now. It may not be only the shift in Broward though.. Didn't Manatee and Plant used to be consistent state powers in 3A? They finished 15th and 17th!
  5. I believe Somerset Academy in Pembroke Pines is a public school.
  6. Now that looks more like ColumbiaHigh fan....Those action figures getting slammed are look like Viera players.
  7. 5A South ( particularly Region 4) this year was cannibalizing one another in early rounds and 5A North needs a lot of help IMO. If BTW and CM move to 5A Region 4 and continue up to speed , perhaps either Jones, Bishop Moore, Rockledge, and Merritt Island could be added to a North Region to balance things out up North and throughout 5A in the State...
  8. Columbia did win that game but the game was actually called short due to lightning and rain when Nease had the bases loaded with no outs.
  9. They're Columbia Tigers....not much has changed.
  10. I found a image of the winning Pitcher for Columbia's last post-season baseball victory:
  11. I'm not advocating this process but the facts are this his how CM got real good, real fast after a decent 2015 season in which they fell to Oxbridge Academy. If I am not mistaken at one point CM had 24 FBS players on their roster in 2016, Jason Milgrom was out over the summer in a potential implosion scenario for the program. Dameon Jones took over coming from Hallandale, righted the ship with the CM program and they have been a power since then. Again , I'm not advocating how CM got this good this fast and not disagreeing with your thoughts on a potential crash-n-burn situation in the future. This is just the way it is not only at CM but other small private powers as well.
  12. More great insight! Keep us posted when you get a hold of any of those schedules!
  13. That 3A scenario appears about spot on right now SPCjessica2004. I might put a question mark next to AHD as well given the fact they had lots returning and they already had a few transfer out, including their top player in high profile WR John Dunmore who transferred to Chaminade-Madonna. Will AHD be able to hold most of the current team together and perhaps get a few more in. If they can I think they are a bubble top 5 team. I doubt any 2018 3A team that CM will face will be even close to as strong as the 2017 Oxbridge Academy. I will miss that anticipated match up 3A that I was so excited for and lived up to all the hype as both teams left everything on the field.......Is it time to bring TCA back to 3A ? As far as CM being a top 50 team nationally, I will be curious to see their schedule. I believe they were a top 50 team last year early on but appeared to still have a way to go to back that up with a brutal schedule. Locally, my final rankings had AHP and Cardinal Gibbons a tight 1,2 (on a slightly higher level) then a gap followed by CM, STA and Miramar who probably could have all beat one another on any night. CM finished very strong but I feel they were realistically probably closer to a top 100 team then top 50 team in 2017. This year pre-season locally , I see AHP down, STA ?, CM ? (probably at least as good). Miramar and Cardinal Gibbons both took big hits but have potential to improve fast.
  14. I remember Gray as a FR at Everglades in 2016. Did not know he went to Miramar last year. He should be a good one for Central.
  15. The only other track guy from the '90s of similar pedigree might be Lavernius Coles.
  16. Gotcha...I admit, I am not the best at remembering Jamborees and KOCs....
  17. When did Vero beat Viera? I don't recall when that game was..
  18. I must be missing something with the amount of new additions to CM for the 2018 season....I know about WR John Dunmore and RB Wilie Davis added, great players , but I don't see those two players quite replacing the 2017 WR core and RB Shaun Shivers....I understand the OL is supposedly up a bit with a returning QB who gets the job done. I understand several return on Defense as well... It's early but as of now I just don't see this team as loaded as the 2016 and 2017 CM teams. Does not mean they will not be dominant though as I think 3A will be down this year as a whole after having a few good teams outside of OA and CM last year. The 2016 and 2017 CM teams were damn good but generally when they stepped up to play powers from the higher classifications they struggled. Outside of STA being extremely down in 2017, STA would have toyed with CM IMO the last few years. I don't feel the loaded 2016 CM team would have had a prayer against 2016 STA. I think 2017 CM would have gave 2017 STA all they could handle at minimum. I saw 2017 CG and CM both play a few times last year and feel pretty confident CG was the better team.
  19. Blanche Ely has a new HC in Clifford Wimberly. More from David Furones and the SunSentinel: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/highschool/football/broward/fl-sp-blanche-ely-football-coach-wimberly-20180228-story.html#nt=oft07a-2gp1
  20. 2019 North Miami QB Isaiah Velez has transferred to MNW.
  21. Historically, maybe but take a look at the teams Coral Springs is losing to in opening rounds over the years. Worst post-season teams historically might be a category for these teams. I have trouble calling them among the worst football programs in Florida. If Coral Springs is among the worst football programs in Florida or even South Florida, what is Inlet Grove? Coral Springs is not a bad 8A program IMO. Good- NO, The Worst - Definitely not. Coral Springs is a erratic team being usually a game or two over .500 or a couple games under .500. Very, very inconsistent. They may have also produced a couple NFL players if I am not mistaken. Miami Southwest (also erratic) has had some decent teams recently but have opening games against good 8A teams. I can think of much worse 8A programs, the bottom 8A-15 Miami like Braddock, Varela, Ferguson, Coral Reef ... don't just lose they usually get throttled. 2014 Coral Springs had a decent team particularly offensively. They opened their playoffs @ Flanagan , fought hard but ultimately lost as huge underdogs. That 2014 Coral Springs team was probably a 2nd or 3rd round 8A team in some parts of the state. Like many teams statewide they struggle to keep coaches for more then 2-3 years...
  22. 2019 Monsignor Pace QB/WR Lorenzo Floyd has transferred to Carol City. Floyd was part of the Carol City 2016 State Championship team.
