  1. I figured, but Flanagan was the really the only other tough game on our schedule. I actually have the game film. It's on NFHS Network and I just see Aquinas tearing them apart.

Very shocked by the result though. I know Plantation is not the sisters of the poor, but just didn't expect them to beat Flanagan.

Remember that if you watched the film for the last Flanagan game in which they lost 13-12 @ South Plantation the Falcons were missing several key starters- 4 out with suspensions and a couple players resting.  Flanagan as a public school does not have the depth of a AHP or STA.  For whatever reason, no media outlets reported that stuff...even though 3 of the starters were D1 commits .  The media just mentions (and mostly justified) how many penalties Flanagan continues to have this season.  But, Flanagan did not just lose that game because of penalites, the hungrier, Home team that night took advantage of a lackadaisical, sloppy opponent deserved the W.

Watch the Coconut Creek game or highlights and you will see what the Flanagan Defense are physically capable of (and I obviously emphasize the word "capable' because of the sloppy penalties.)  Having seen Coconut Creek play both AHP and Flanagan, it is my opinion that Defensively speaking-  Flanagan  is every bit as good as AHP -at least for the first 45 minutes of the game.  I fully understand Coconut Creek is not near the same level of a STA but I just figured it would be a little bit of a measuring stick to compare the Flanagan D vs. AHP D considering both teams played a solid Creek team within 2 weeks of each other.

Also remember that when the Flanagan QB returns it will also make the Defense even better because not the backup QB can return to his natural position full time as a 4 star DB.   STA is clearly the significantly better team at the moment, and likely even when they meet, but that game might be a little more interesting in a few weeks.

  2. Palm Beach Top 10

    1. Atlantic

    2. Dwyer

    3. American Heritage- Delray

    4. Pahokee

    5. Boca Raton

    6. Wellington

    7. Oxbridge Academy

    8. Palm Beach Gardens

    9. Glades Central

    10. Lake Worth

@muckboy561.  I am guessing you have seen both AHD and Atlantic play in person.  Would you say Atlantic is better than AHD ?  If so , what makes them better?  Unfortunately, we will never know....I think people are sleeping on Atlantic a little and they might have what it takes to compete, or possibly beat the Broward and Dade 8A teams this year? They have pretty much dismantled 3 good teams this year in Palm Beach and I don't see anybody outside of Dwyer having a chance against them.

  3. Flanagan and Coconut Creek are better than Dillard and Boyd Anderson.  Go walk up to a mirror and ask yourself if Dillard and Boyd Anderson are better than Flanagan and Coconut Creek.  Really...look yourself in the eye and say it again...now look in the mirror and tell yourself how much better McArthur is than Miramar.....

Miramar does not have McArthur's cream puff schedule but you should know Miramar is better than McArthur. As for Flanagan... I tried to give you a lead to comprehend that Flanagan had 4 D1 players suspended and a couple injured for the South Plantation game, but you simply judged this outcome in a manner that in your opinion makes Boyd Anderson and Dillard a higher ranked team than Flanagan and Coconut Creek.  Let's look at this with a little sense....Flanagan has looked sloppy with penalties, their offense is flat,  and they have not been able to finish games of late , but don't fail to realize that Flanagan has not given up an offensive TD in the first 45 mins of games / or within 3 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter this year to anyone. South Plantation is not a "BAD" team.  They are 3-1 and play in a whole hell of lot better District than Dillard, Boyd Anderson or McArthur.

Coconut Creek already slaughtered Boyd Anderson this year, and please give your opinion and answer these 2 questions :

If McArthur meets Miramar  this week on a neutral field- who wins?

If Flanagan meets Dillard this week on a neutral field- who wins?

  4. we were predicted to lose to lake Gibson though and douglas at the beginning of the season.

If you are referring to me , I never predicted Dillard would lose to Lake Gibson and Douglas.  I stated those games could very well be hard games for Dillard and they may lose one of those games.  Dillard in my opinion is winning the games they are supposed to.  Lake Gibson is obviously down and Douglas is not what myself and others thought they were.  Pre-season I did think Douglas could be challenging for Dillard but 3 weeks into the season it is obvious Dillard is clearly a better team and not for nothing but I actually predicted Dillard to beat Douglas 34-16 yesterday.  So to conclude and not to take anything from Dillard but the Panthers are about what I thought they were, while Lake Gibson and Douglas are not.  I also initially thought Dillard had a adequate schedule this year but it starting to look like Candyland.  Boyd Anderson, Plantation and Hallandale are the only teams that may have winning records on the season. Dillard vs. Boyd Anderson and Dillard vs. Plantation should be great games.  Right now, I would lean Dillard in close games because they are at home.  Would you agree?

  5. @broward I feel u on other words dillard won tonight 28-7 left 28 more on the field kind of upset about that but still proud of the defensive effort that 7 was gave to them smh but nonetheless were 3-1 dillard haven't been that in a very long time we have a bye week next week ..."DANG.!" NO FOOTBALL FOR 2 WEEKS SAD FACE LOL but I love where were at right now.

I know your opinion on Hallanadle but to me - Dillard has won all the games that they were supposed to so far.  We will see what the future holds but 3-1 going into the bye is pretty good.

  6. Another ugly game for Flanagan.  Dirty Birds had 190 Penalty Yards.  The refs simply do not like that hard hitting mentality (even if it is a clean hit) . Dirty Birds do not play a clean game I guess... Flanagan also had 4 Starters suspended for this game and 2 starters sitting out with injuries.    Flanagan also showed more evidence that they will struggle in this tough 8A District without their starting QB.

  7. Nasty weather (80% chance of scattered thundershowers with heavy downpours) expected in West Plantation and most of South Florida through this weekend.  Not to sound like the Master Of the Obvious... but this will generally benefit the team with better Offensive and Defensive Lines, the team that can run the ball, and the better overall Defenses.  Teams that rely on the deep ball and going to the air a lot will be at a disadvantage.  Disciplined teams and knowing how to take care of the ball could be big benefit. Home teams also generally benefit here as they take shelter in more comfortable areas (vs. sometimes a bus or small room) if there are any lightning delays.

That said, I would lean even more towards AHP here to get the job done. Coconut Creek's strengths in my opinion are the athletic QB, the imposing WR's and Secondary that creates mismatches.  Their O/D Lines are above average but will get worn down by AHP.  AHP offensively likely will not worry about throwing the ball and understand that if they play mistake free football running the ball- they should have no problems getting the W.  Defensively speaking, AHP will likely show a heavy pass rush (like Flanagan displayed 2 weeks ago vs. Creek) and with the weather factored in, you would think Coco Creek will have very limited options. From what I have seen, AHP is more the kind of Defense that wears on you vs. say a Flanagan that might gamble a little more with it's great team speed.

If for some reason the weather is dry, Coconut Creek definitely has some better skilled position players than AHP and could make the game interesting. Both teams have had issues with penalties this year, so could be lots of hankies unless the refs just want to keep the clock moving, and get the hell out of there of there ...It would not shock me if Coconut Creek pulled off the upset but I am going to go with the better coached, more battle tested team here with the nasty weather this weekend:

    AHP 30   Coconut Creek 13

  8. creek will beat Hallandale .....Hallandale will lose to creek Jackson and st Thomas and American heritage ....creek will lose to heritage and Jackson ....and Hallandale defense is suspect you just have to have the right personal and coaches to exploit it.

So are you essentially saying Jackson and AHP are coming out of that District?

  9. Handicapper, do you check out our Scoreboards on Friday nights? We post all the scores and make sure to get them correct.

I do now. Was checking scores out this past Friday evening.

I would have to agree, that they are very accurate and broken down (by county/region) very nicely.  When researching a school such as Marianna in which I am not familiar with the the region , what is the fastest way to reference the schedule/ record of that school on FloridaHSFootball.com?  I used Maxpreps in that case.. because I just type it in a search box and it comes up.   Is there a way to to quickly reference the same thing here on FloridaHSFootball.com?

  10. OK.  Fair enough.  Well....If that's the case..I  guess there are A LOT of 2-0  teams in Dade County better than Miami Central and Booker T. Right???

Now don't go crying wolf if at the end of the year Pope John Paul III has a better record than Glades Central.  If that is the case it would only be fair for you to rank them higher (than Glades Central) in Palm Beach based on what you are telling us?

  11. University is 2-0, McArthur is 2-0, Archbishop McCarthy is 2-0 ..... I could go on and on.  I just take into consideration who the teams have played and how they fared as well....

For example.  If Glades Central were to lose to AHD this weekend and go to 2-1......and  Pope John Paul III were to win and go to 3-0.  Does that mean I should rank Pope John Paul III higher than Glades Central?

Another example if Glades Central opened the year to play @ IMG and @STA with similar results as Miramar would you leave them out of your top 10 Palm Beach list?  I don't think so.

Based on what you are telling me is that you would though....

  12. @broward I will give you 156A is tough and talented but what I don't agree with is when you say CREEK have a tough OOD schedule no they don't ....MARIST? MAYBE even the GA natives said that marist was nothing to brag about atleast in recent years but I still may give u that. FLANAGAN ...I give you that 100% ...boyd Anderson lets be real just 2 weeks ago we was just saying how them being .500 would be a great season ....boyd Anderson played a WEAK WEAK WEAK south broward team and a PLAYOFF TEAM BY DEFAULT in stoneman douglas yes there 2-0 but its not a solid 2-0 now I can see if they played Miramar and plantation and was 2-0 okay but I'm sorry that's what you call a weak 2-0 and dosent need to be taken serious JUST YET.! are they talented and moving in the right direction? yes but lets see what they do in the next 2 to 4 weeks starting Friday....as for creek I believe they will be another .500 team by default is they WAAAAAAY better then the creek teams from the last 5 years YES.! YES! YES.! BUT besides there district look at there schedule? its cupcake status ....there not making the playoffs I can tell you that now....it will not shock me if AHP....AND JACKSON REPRESENT that district like they did a few years back then meet again in the 2nd round.

Sorry for the confusion.  I did not say @ Marist was tough. I just said they have a hard District and non-District vs @ Marist, @ Flanagan and Boyd Anderson.  I do not think Marist is a tough game but to go OOS vs a team that might be around say a Dillard is not easy.  You should know playing out of your region is not always easy.  So can we agree Marist is in the Boyd Anderson Dillard, Plantation type range?

  13. I think top to bottom Coconut Creek has one of the harder schedules in Broward County.  Just my opinion though.  They only have 2 cupcakes in Northeast and Stranahan. Marist, Cardinal Gibbons and Boyd Anderson appear to be average teams and the remainder of the schedule are all potential playoff teams.....of the top 10 teams in Broward we have listed the only cupcake schedules are Boyd Anderson and Dillard in my opinion.

  14. I like that breakdown...You forgot Jackson though .  Jackson is a solid team and that District is arguably the best in South Florida.  Creek has 3 hard games left and 2 medium games left.  Hard=  @ Hallandale ,@  AHP and Jackson.  Medium = Cardinal Gibbons, Boyd Anderson .   Garbage = Stranahan and Northeast.  Creek's schedule is not easy. Hard District and non-District vs. @ Marist -OOS, @ Flanagan, and Boyd Anderson.  That is a solid schedule in my opinion.

  15. I use teams in the low tier top 10 as comparison because that is the RANGE I feel Miramar is in right now the 7-10 range.  I may be wrong.  But the facts are STA, AHP and Flanagan ALL have decent wins at this point.  Would you agree?   As far as a Flanagan or Hallandale having the same schedule as Miramar , I think they would have made those games a lot more interesting.

Things could change .  If Boyd Anderson is slaughtered by Coconut Creek, I think it is safe to say STA, AHP, Hallandale, Flanagan, Creek and Deerfield might be on a little higher level then Plantation, Dillard, Boyd Anderson and Miramar.  Dillard has already slipped, Boyd Anderson could be next....Plantation and Miramar have upcoming opportunities to prove themselves.  We'll have to wait and see.

  16. @BrowardHandiCapper At least Miramar scored Piper and Coral Springs/Charter would probably have 100 points jumped on them.

Agree.  Miramar was essentially spanked by 2 of the top 5 teams in the Nation.  They lost to elite teams.  Until they start losing to to average teams (South Plantation type teams), in Broward, it is hard not to put them in my top 10.  They will likely easily handle Monarch, and if they beat Plantation there is no doubt they belong in the Broward top 10 list.  Even if they lose a tight game vs. Plantation it could be debatable.

Dillard, Boyd Anderson and Plantation all would have got slaughtered just as bad or worse than Miramar vs. IMG and STA. Some may actually think 18 pts on STA is just as (or more) impressive as beating down South Broward or Stranahan.
