Dwyer is 13-7 vs Broward teams in the playoffs.  3 of those losses came against STA.

Over the years they have beaten, Ely, Dillard, Boyd Anderson and St Thomas.

Not sayin' they are better than all Broward teams, but they have done reasonably well.

Solid, but let's be honest when they caught Ely, Boyd Anderson and Dillard in some of those years they were probably 2-6 win type seasons for many of those games. They have probably made punching bags in the playoffs versus Stranahan, Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood Hills as well...  They also have no choice but to play those games since it is the post season.

What is Dwyer's record against any Broward or Dade teams in the regular season?

Broward and Dade top teams play one another to make things interesting.  Palm Beach top teams like to mix it up with with Broward and Dade as well.  Is there a reason Dwyer does not want to join party?

It's only been over 25 years of existence, right?

I agree with you it was a rough spring game GC will change things around when the season starts hopefully we'll have a good season and shock a couple of people (cough cough) kneecapper lol

Finally getting by AHD last year after 6 years was a step in the right direction.  Getting outscored by University School 57-28 combined in 2 losses was not.

I think Dwyer is on the road going against Gibbons tonight this should be a good, the Dwyer team this year is loaded with skill it will be very interesting to see how well they put it together but you hand Jack Daniels talent he usually does a great job at getting the most out of his teams.

    Dwyer heading into Broward?

    It must be May.

Well as of late i would definitely say we were far better on defense in those late 90s teams, specifically that 97 team then we have had lately but we were no where near as good in the passing game back then compared to now and we were almost entirely run oriented in those 90s teams

Had we had the passing game we have now back then we would have won multiple state championships but we would have needed the defense we had back then as well

Not going to use the cliche but for the most part,   Defense is King in the big ones...

    Never said it was

What i was saying was they said same thing about us having no chance in that game and I honestly feel that Carol City team would stack up with most STA teams

Sure maybe 08, 10, and 15 versions beat that Carol City team but that Carol City team was no joke and if we could compete with a team considered out of our league then who the hell can say it can't be done again

Any team good enough to make it to states has a punchers chance right?

They won state in a smaller classification but I feel the best 2 teams that year played in 6a state championship and if you compare the teams the numbers likely support that

    Absolutely.

But the other important question you should also be asking yourself is how does modern day Columbia stack up to 1997 Columbia?

  6. Probably safe to say Gio Richardson is the established QB at Oxbridge Academy.   However, Johnson appears to be athletic enough to probably play WR/DB and dominate 3A for the most part.  Surely would be a plus to that roster with some added beef to the LOS and Oxbridge would probably be back in business as a likely high probability to get back to Orlando.

No but do you really need to be born to do research on a roster or to rewatch a game that has the entire game on video?

That Carol City team in 97 was a loaded roster and I'm sure simple research will show that

Well, it happened...Columbia is not the first team to lose a State Championship to a National Power in FL.

By the way how did St. Thomas Aquinas do in 1997?

I missed the game, but saw some highlights. Looks like the trenches is still the downfall at GC.

That and also not at least trying to establish some form of the run game which you will think with the weather conditions but the number 4 kid pretty good. D.F set everyone back so the run game was there but they continued to throw the ball and put the defense in bad situations short field which is how DF put up that many points

Has GC established their QB yet or are they still sorting that out?

GC will find their way...They usually do.  I expect 4A - 4 to be very entertaining this year with BTW ,US and perhaps Edison the likely front runners and Glades Central in the mix for that 3/4 spot.

He was here first 2 years so my question is how was he at Winter Park last year lol

    You tell me...

You tell all of us how two clear cut starters for Columbia showed upon the 2018 roster without you noticing them or doing your due diligence of posting on the Transfer thread?

You have no problem staying updated on other transfers around the state, right?

Winter Park to Columbia would be one heck of a move. Must have family in Columbia. Can't see that happening otherwise.

I'll tell you what.   These guys are no slouches either.  Seen their film and Camiel supposedly has a offer from Cincinatti.

If these made the move to Columbia without ColumbiaHighFan2017Class updating and reporting it.....it could be worse then Spygate and Watergate put together.  The fact that Columbia snuck these players in and him not referencing it.  If that is the case.  That sneaky, conniving SOB.

There is no reason he could not mention it in this string after being excited about and knowing Columbia's 2018 roster better then his 2015 Venice @ Columbia playoff media guide hidden under his bed.

I'm calling for an investigation of ColumbiaHighFans2017Class  knowledge of this matter!!!

Kickers don't get much love, so here goes.  The following five guys all played for FSU.

Bill Capece-Played hs football at Chaminade, where he was also the team's leading rusher.  In his senior year at FSU in 1980, Capece earned NCAA All-American honors.  He lead the team in scoring with 104 points, making him the first college kicker to top the 100-point mark.  He set school records for most field goals in a game (5) and most points in a game (18). Capece and FSU punter Rohn Stark, both All-Americans in 1980, are considered by many to be the best kicking tandem ever at FSU.  Capece later played three years in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Mike Rendina-Was an All-American at Pompano Beach High.  Kicked for FSU in 1981 and 1982 and then transferred to Purdue.  Eventually signed with the Dolphins, but never made it big in the NFL.

Sebastian Janikowski-Was a soccer star and All-American kicker at Daytona Beach Seabreeze.  Janikowski grew up in Poland, moving to the U.S. just before the 10th grade. He played three seasons for the Seminoles and is considered by many to be among the best in the history of the game. He won the Lou Groza Award, given to the nation's top placekicker, as both a sophomore (1998) and junior (1999).  He was a two-time consensus All-American and left as the ACC's all-time scoring leader and co-holder of the FSU record for field goals in a game(5). The Los Angeles Raiders made a rare move of selecting a kicker in the first round of the NFL draft when they picked Janikowski in 1999. He has had a long career in the NFL, including 18 years with the Raiders.

Graham Gano-Was a track star and All-American kicker at Tate High in the Panhandle.   Like Bill Capece, only kicked for FSU during his senior year, in 2008.  That year, Gano earned All-American honors and won the Lou Groza Award.  He made 24/26 field goals, including 5 of 50 or more yards.  He has played for 9 years in the NFL (Washington and Carolina).

Roberto Aguayo-Played hs football at South Lake High.  In 2013, he won the Lou Groza Award, and was a 3-time All-American.  In his three years with FSU, he successfully connected on 69/78 field goal attempts and on all 198 of his extra point attempts.  He played 1 season for the Tampa Bay Bucs, but has struggled getting traction in the NFL.

...other hs All-American kickers from Florida

1983 Greg Cox-St Thomas Aquinas and Miami Hurricanes (4-year starter; kicked two field goals in the 1988 Orange Bowl to help the Canes win the national title against Oklahoma)

1994 Robby Stevenson-Manatee and University of Florida

    1996 TJ Tucker-River Ridge High-pursued baseball career

2009 Cody Parker/Jupiter High, Auburn and several teams in the NFL

Interesting fact: Both Robby Stevenson and Bill Capece are deputy sheriffs in Florida now.

You forgot a very good one from Broward County who played for FSU. ;)
