Who Is This Central FL QB? Hunter Pingston/Rockledge
Hwy17 replied to OldSchoolLion's topic in The Huddle
1995 State Semi-Final Hardee 13 Rockledge 10 in 2 OT. Absolutely the best high school football game I have ever witnessed in person. Hopefully if we have a season this year Hardee will be playing Rockledge in the kickoff classic. -
Jack Daniels, former coach at Dwyer would also have counted.
-
Earl Garcia, but I believe he retired after last season
-
Shawn Bane, Sarasota Riverview

From the clues given it sounds like the 1996 Bartow team that beat #1 ranked Jacksonville Bolles

Can someone be nominated for the FHSAA or FACA hall of fame posthumously?

Who Is This Famous Coach? Joey Pearson/Lafayette
Hwy17 replied to OldSchoolLion's topic in The Huddle
I wonder if our friend knows anything about American history? Or what dressing most people put on a sandwich. -
And from what I've read about both the Estero and Lely games, coach Kramer of Naples did everything he could to keep from running up the score.
-
Was it one of these two: 2008 Naples 91 Estero 0 2001 Naples 85 Lely 0

Was this game in the modern era or way back when?

We will be lucky to go 5-5 again. Playing a very tough schedule that has Port Charlotte, North Marion, Lake Gibson, Vero Beach, Lake Wales, Sebring. We lack depth but do have some athletes that are fun to watch. The running back will be in his 3rd season starting. The likely QB also plays on defense but saw a few snaps last season.

Hey Sliver King or Wavebb; either of you know anything about Cypress Lake or any of the other teams in 5A District 13? Cypress looks like they been on an upswing the last couple of years. I figure that district comes down to either them or Desoto again this year.

Hwy17 replied to OldSchoolLion's topic in The Huddle
Brandon James, St. Augustine. 2005 state champs over Sarasota Booker. Played college football for the gators. -
Estero in 1998. Coach was Joe Hampton. Beat #1 ranked Lakeland but lost to Osceola in the finals.

Looks as Though Football is a Go for this Season
Hwy17 replied to Proseteye's topic in Off Topic Board
In 2007 there was a outbreak of MRSA among several area teams. Hardee in particular had several players diagnosed with it. There was no quarantine that I recall nor any cancellation of games. -
Who Is This FL HS Legend? David Clowney/Atlantic
Hwy17 replied to OldSchoolLion's topic in The Huddle
David Clowney, Atlantic high. Picture is from a game vs Naples. He played college football at Virginia Tech -
Who Is This Famous Coach? Billy Turner/Chamberlain
Hwy17 replied to OldSchoolLion's topic in The Huddle
Billy Turner. Coached at both Hillsborough and Chamberlain. Got to the finals in 2001 but lost to Naples, coached by Bill Kramer. -
Who Is This Famous Coach? Binky Waldrop/Charlotte
Hwy17 replied to OldSchoolLion's topic in The Huddle
Binky Waldrop, Charlotte HS -
Thanks. I couldn't remember the year that game was played. Desoto was up 36-0 before Billed started to make a comeback. Would be a running clock now.

Large Class State Championships Moving from Daytona
Hwy17 replied to Perspective's topic in The Huddle
Thanks for the feed back. I've never been to Spec Martin personally but knew Stetson University plays there. When it comes to a centrally located stadium, there really isn't a lot to choose from. Possibly could play in a minor league baseball stadium but then you have a football field overlaid on a baseball diamond and possibly bad seating depending how its laid out. -
Large Class State Championships Moving from Daytona
Hwy17 replied to Perspective's topic in The Huddle
What do you think about Spec Martin stadium in Deland? Seats approx 6000, which would be enough for most championship games. Deland is not that far from Daytona. -
Bolles, Southeast, Glades Central, Rockledge, Carol City

CoachMacho, welcome back. Were you coaching at now?

I can name coaches who have: won more than 200 games; coached one school for over 25 years; appeared in back-to-back title games; careers cover 4 decades; have a stadium named after them. But all 5 requirements? I'm stumped. Obviously they didn't coach in my part of the state.
