  1. Somebody mentioned in a previous thread; Gene Cox.
  2. I was thinking Billy Turner as well but he only got to the finals once. Then I figured it would be Jim Powell (Venice) but he didn't quite have 200 wins.
  3. With only 14 playoff appearances, I'm lead to believe that he spent much of his coaching career when only district champs made the playoffs.
  4. Vero Beach - 64 wins Lakeland - 60 wins Lake Butler - 46 wins Hardee - 46 wins
  5. Palmetto's #1 rankings at the time was due to an inflated RPI that in hindsight was not as strong at year end.
  6. Tallahassee Lincoln over a very overrated Palmetto
  7. Not the answer, but coach Jordan Ingman at Port Charlotte just might do this. Hired as a head coach at age 22, he's been the head coach at Port Charlotte since 2012 and has had a winning season every year. 8 seasons as a coach and only 30. Now that Binky Waldrop has retired he becomes one of the longest tenured coaches in SWF
  8. 1993 Bay vs Rutherford. Bay won in a blowout. Bay's head coach was Jim Scroggins, one of several former Desoto coaches to leave Arcadia and win somewhere else.
  9. Jack Youngblood. Played hs at Jefferson County, college at University of Florida, and NFL for the Los Angeles Rams. Called the John Wayne of Football
  10. Looks like its the IMG white team. Lakewood Ranch might win that game.
  11. Are we sure Lakewood Ranch isn't playing the IMG white team,?
  12. 1988 3A quarterfinal Orlando Jones vs Hardee
  13. I was in 9th grade then. Crazy turn of events got Hardee to the title game. Only district champs made the playoffs and we were in a 3 way tie with Desoto and Palmetto. Desoto beat us that year and had a 9-1 record, their only loss was to Palmetto by 1 point, a missed PAT and they were close to scoring when time ran ou in that game. For some reason, the Desoto coach gave up home field advantage and the tiebreaker game was at Hardee, where they had just won. But Palmetto beat them in the tiebreaker and Hardee beat Palmetto to advance. We were big underdogs in both playoff games but upset both Jones and Key West to get to the championship. We matched up good with Suwannee except for Frier. We didn't have anyone who could cove him.
  14. Charlie Tate, head coach at Winter Haven has got to be getting close. He was head coach at Desoto, Bartow, and Mosley as well.
  15. Farris Brannan, Frostproof. Won 2state championships. The Frostproof stadium is named after him.
  16. Ronnie Lippett. Played at Sebring high school, University of Miami, New England Patriots. Shared the backfield at the U with Bennie Blades. Later coached at Sebring.
  17. Cool. Coach Kemp toughing up Hardee's schedule. I heard will play Rockledge in the kickoff classic too.
  18. I'll say this about Lemon Bay; 2018 their qb transfers to Venice. When we played Lemon Bay in 2018 they were winless but played us tough. They had a good defense and decent running game but were lacking a passing game. They finished the season 2-8. In 2017 they were 5-4. I can't help but think had their qb not had transfered, they would have had a winning season.
  19. They've been robbing from North Port and Lemon Bay for years.
  20. The Man that's was a tough loss bowl: Hardee vs Glades Central
  21. 1. Duvall, Leon, Broward. 2. Duvall
  22. Clewiston is a city, Madison is a county
