I guess mostly everyone here take Glades Central for a joke. I see a lot of LOL'S; Yeah, keep doing that. Glades Central can compete with any team in the 4A  that goes for Cocoa and Booker T watch and see.

I don't think anyone is taking GC for a joke. You are one of the guys on the sideline, so of course you are going to feel like the team is ready. You have to understand from the outside looking in, that GC has a Coaching change after a 6-5 season. They also lost alot of fire power. Yes some talent returned and transferred in, but that doesn't mean people will just jump and say that GC is back. Respect is earned on the field. Tell those boys to be hungry.

I thought he had Park Vista by 3 over Dwyer?

I don't necessarily disagree with him on those games nor have a large point gap.  I basically expect those games to be fairly close.

How about your opinion on those 3 games?

Break down the University @ Glades Central game particularly please.  I know it is going to be tough to win an opener The Muck for University but I give them a shot.

You was right, he does have Park Vista favored. Should be a good one. I have only seen Park Vista out of the two. They are solid, but probably another 1st Round exit again this season. I think this game will tell us what kind of year it will be for Dwyer.

If Atlantic comes in cocky, then they may get upset here. PBC got some ballers. Dent loves big games and I expect him to have one. Atlantic in a close one is a good prediction.

University at GC is big for both teams. Its possible that they will meat twice this year. University has a former GC Assistant on staff (He still works at GC), which will add some extra spice. The game will come down to the trenches. I expect University to bring alot pressure to test the OL. Should be a high scoring game. I think GC has more athletes and will pull it out on big plays.

Quan was the national defensive player of the year that season. He was the #2 offensive player, behind Matt/Chris Simms (I don't remember which one)...That game still hurts the Pahokee community, mainly the offensive game plan. They ran a spread (3 Wrs, 1 TE, and 1 RB), but the coach decided to with 12 personnel, running leads and powers.

I actually watched that entire game again on Friday and was talking to a player in that game the other day. Quan had a super game on defense. On offense, Marx gave him to much freedom and he decided on winning that game alone. 1st quarter all those runs were moving the ball. But, from the 2nd quarter on out, Bolles brought more pressure and Quan began to wear down. He didn't use his other weapons on that offense.

From what I seen last night glades central might have a long year ahead of them. The quarterback need to be mobile because of the offensive line isn't good, the defensive line doesn't get any pressure the qb has too much time to scamble or pass. They have a couple good receivers and a nice RB.

The reason the score was 34-7 because glades central just had more talent than them but a team on glades central with speed and talent Gc is in big trouble.

Also once again GC has too many coaches and the players are not disciplined, when they make a big play they run to the stands to celebrate and every time they make a big tackle they jump up dancing and celebrating getting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

Too many holding and false start penalties if the coaches don't clean it up it will come back to bite them later on in the season or in tight games.

So we should expect a good game next Friday with University Vs Glades Central In Belle Glade!

To many voices on the sidelines is always a problem.

In many eyes all they would see was a 39 -0 blowout ..but 1 thing to notate when it was starters dillard held top 3 nationally ranked Sta to 14 points only 7 points each q.t if u ask me as talented & stacked Sta is & bringing in jason taylor & etc on the coaching staff dillard showed up & played & wasnt afraid & gave Sta all they could handle ...do the offense needs work yes they should have atleast scored but when your back ups are going against 4 & 5* kids who are named backups on the other team its like still going at it vs starters but either way im excited for dillard this year

Is Nakia Jenkins still the OC there?

Predictions and I was giving you my reason behind why Dwyer will win or lose a ball game. But to answer you question I feel that GC can match up athletically with Dwyer but will get out coached that can but if they win I will give the credit to both the players and coaches

Well I predict GC will beat Dwyer. Atlantic will probably handle them as well.

  8. 17 hours ago, Chotsani said:

Glades Central will have more talent but they will get out coached that game but that game can swing either way. Atlantic scare me because they have talent and a boat load of transfers but coaching and team discipline can be their down fall this season so that also can be a swing game but they do have Atlantic early so i expect Atlantic to be ok at that point, Park Vista is top heavy for as seniors with experience I expect those seniors to lead and get the job done versus dwyer, Palm Beach Lakes just flat out will get out coached that game so I don't see that game to be even close

So if GC wins, then its because of talent and if they lose its because of Coaching? I guess it makes no sense to even Coach at GC. Guess its the same at Lakes as well.

Wrong again. AHD, Chaminade-Madonna, and Oxbridge have all cracked top 100 teams over the last few years.

I understand those two schools will be relevant in FL football and I actually like it.  I just call it like I see it, and it is not what it once was.

    Did not graduate High School.

My bad, small PUBLIC school. Well, which school in Broward do you support?

  10. 3 minutes ago, BrowardHandicapper said:

It has been about 10 years since Pahokee was nationally elite.  That GC 2012 team was nothing overly impressive. 2011 GC was very good and lost to an elite Norland team.  Let's be honest outside of 2011, Glades Central has not been the same in a long time.  Either way 2011, 2012....It is a drought any way you want to sugar coat it.

Everyone knows that for a small school to be considered nationally elite, they must put together several consecutive undefeated seasons or championships. Pahokee has improved these past 2 seasons. So we will see how this season goes. This season could also be the beginning of GC return. All public schools that have high expectations go through less than par seasons. Wether you like it or not, those 2 schools will always be relevant in football. But, I'm curious to know which high school in Broward that you are a graduate of?

  11. 6 minutes ago, BrowardHandicapper said:

Wrong.  I posted that statement on this busy thread, and I have been on this busy thread probably more than you been on your 2007 Lazy Boy recliner in the last day.

I'm not in denial of the history of the muck.  I respect the history and always have.  But let's be real it has been 10 years.

No one is directly saying they are national powers, yet the same people believe they can currently play with national powers in Broward and Dade from a subjective perspective.

How has it been 10 years and GC has been to 2 title games and Pahokee actually won one on the field?

  12. 18 hours ago, 561_Fan said:

Rankings are subjective..Most people rank teams that fit their narratives/biases...Bigger schools are better or more rated players means a better team...The same with player rankings..A few years ago a kid won d-player of the year with 36 tackles and 4 sacks...when I saw a kid have 18 tackles (10 for loss) and 3 sacks in a single game that season. Pahokee had a kid with 23 sacks, on a state championship team (at the time) and didn't get a vote for defensive player of the year...It's all what fits your narrative

    Very True

  13. 20 hours ago, BrowardHandicapper said:

Exactly "have had" Have had as in 10 years ago......

2015 Atlantic convincingly destroyed a much better PB County schedule and everything in their path in PB County that year:

    2015 Atlantic:     http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/atlantic-eagles-(delray-beach,fl)/football-fall-15/schedule.htm

    2016 Pahokee:   http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/pahokee-blue-devils-(pahokee,fl)/football-fall-16/schedule.htm

So if large school football is average in PBC then  Pahokee and Glades Central  should be blasting those teams every game since they believe they are still nationally elite or a top 100 national program.

That last statement proves that you are very envious of the Muck. You keep throwing that statement out there when nobody is on here saying that the schools are still national powers.

  14. 1 hour ago, BrowardHandicapper said:

Interesting ...It has been mentioned multiple times that Glades Central has several transfers in this year but you are okay with that.....I'm not denying AHD had transfers over those years but that is the way it has always been at AHD.  That is the way it has always been at AHD if I am not mistaken - they are a private school.

When all of the other teams like Cardinal Newman played and defeated AHD last year, was it a different AHD team than what showed up versus Glades Central?

Perhaps the AHD transfers on their 2 win team did not participate that game versus Cardinal Newman?

Every single kid that transferred to GC was born on the Muck. There is a differences in going home and going to a school to pile up. I personally was not at the GC-AHD game this season, so I can't tell you what happened.

I was not aware of how influential refs are in Vero games but I'll be looking out for it....Making excuses for a struggle versus 4-5 Seminole Ridge when in your own mind you believe you are a national power- seriously???  Boca Raton was undefeated going into that game - correct- (you asked to be made a fool , now I will make you one)  they were 4-0 versus West Boca, a two point Win versus PB Gardens, and they smashed Spanish River and Santaluces.  Now go pound your chest.   The thunderstorm at the Boca Raton game was very mild and it stormed on Boca Raton as well.  I'll order some ponchos for Pahokee next time if that helps...

Yes, I say "if" .  You struggle with Seminole Ridge and Boca Raton, you are not ready for the top teams in Broward....- just a crazy thought...

Okay....So 2015 Atlantic was a dud because they are not from the muck even though they beat Glades Central 26-7 - is that better?  What is your excuse for that one?  One week of practice or rain?

You didn't mention GC playing Vero,  You mentioned:

"To outsiders of the Muck, Atlantic and Vero would be considered "upsets." But, Muck teams have always handled Atlantic and Pahokee has also beaten Vero a few times. Only a Cocoa win would be considered an upset. "

Your context insinuates Atlantic and Vero are not upsets to those within the Muck.  You context goes on to refererence Muck teams have always handled Atlantic which is incorrect as well (relative to modern day).  Pahokee has beat Vero twice in 2007, 2008.

I don't need an excuse, the win column said it all. I can see that you are taking an argument out with me that you may have had with someone else. If you can find my name on any post on this website where i mentioned Muck teams being a national powerhouse, then you can call me out on it. Now, you are qouting me saying that 2015 Atlantic was a dud? I never said that. Your opinion is that team would beat any GC team back to 2011 and any Pahokee team back to 2007 and my opinion is that its Bull. Like i said, a bunch of "Ifs" and opinions.

  16. 1 hour ago, BrowardHandicapper said:

So Vero Beach is not a upset....Can you explain how Pahokee struggles with average 8A PB County teams last year versus (4-5) Seminole Ridge with a 20-14 victory and beat a 5-5 Boca Raton team 17-14?

Is it fair to say 2017 Vero Beach is at least as strong as those teams?

I was at the Boca Raton game and the game could have gone any way. I don't know if Pahokee was missing players but there was no feel of anything beyond a 1A power on display.  Pahokee looked like a slightly above average 8A team to me and a very good 1A team.  I watch a lot of football in person and view film as well.  Had Pahokee ventured a few miles south of Boca that season against playoff teams they would have gotten their clocks cleaned - trust me. Just being honest.

Back to your statement...that is where you are wrong and/or stuck in time MuckCityChamp. 2015 Atlantic would have blasted any muck team going back to probably 2011 Glades Central and all the way back to 2007 Pahokee.....

You need to get out of the 2000s.  Hope the following helps:

Glades Central never played Vero Beach and never played Atlantic in the 2000's.  They only met the last 2 years.  I may be incorrect and please advise if I am wrong but from what I gather in the history of the last 15 years there have only been 2 matches with those teams:

    2016 Atlantic 13  Glades Central 14

    2015 Atlantic 26  Glades Central 7

I am not suggesting Atlantic was stronger than GC during the 2000s by any means but just presenting the facts.  Atlantic did have a few decent teams though.

As to Pahokee, dominant to Vero in two matches but again we are talking 10 years ago - IMO whole different ballgame.

    2008 Pahokee 28   Vero Beach 10

    2007 Pahokee 25   Vero Beach 2

Pahokee is 5-2 overall versus Atlantic but for whatever reason it looks like they stopped playing one another in recent years...

    2012 Atlantic 39  Pahokee 0

    2011 Atlantic 49  Pahokee 16

    2010 Pahokee 12  Atlantic 7

    2009  Atlantic 6 Pahokee 13

    2006 Pahokee 46 Atlantic 0

    2005 Atlantic 23 Pahokee 32

    2004 Pahokee 22 Atlantic 10

Also, not for nothing but does losing to American Heritage Delray five times straight and particularly last year, even make you consider  that Glades Central has taken a step back?  Stop dodging that statement and give a rebuttal for once please...Give us a explanation why American Heritage Delray OWNS Glades Central in modern day.

No, Vero would not be considered an upset. If Refs are always their to save them, why would I respect them? Pahokee vs Seminole Ridge was the very 1st game of the season with a new staff. But, a win is a win. You failed to mention that Boca was undefeated when they matched up with Pahokee. You also failed to mention that a storm was in the area that week and Pahokee did not get 1 field practice that entire week. Let alone the game being delayed because of a thunderstorm.

Is it fair to say that Vero as strong as those? On paper, yes. No games have been played yet.

IF Pahokee would have traveled to play Broward teams, they would have got their clocks cleaned you say? Its easy to use IF when it didn't happen. But, like us all, you are entitled to your opinion.

Your statement about the 2015 Atlantic team is yet another one of your opinions in which I damn sure disagree. But, like I said, you love the word "If."

Show me where I stated that GC played Vero? And I stand by my statement, I don't consider neither team an upset bid.

Yes, American Heritage has beaten GC 5 straight times. I can't argue that. But, when your program is built on transfers, you better win.

  17. 10 hours ago, BrowardHandicapper said:

Pahokee's schedule is still brutal for a 1A school.   I will be extremely impressed if they win 7 on that schedule.  If they upset Atlantic, Vero Beach or Cocoa I will also be impressed.  If they win 2 of those 3, I'll take my crow with gravy please.

To outsiders of the Muck, Atlantic and Vero would be considered "upsets." But, Muck teams have always handled Atlantic and Pahokee has also beaten Vero a few times. Only a Cocoa win would be considered an upset.
