Oh yea that is a "bunch" of rings. Pahokee has 6, not counting last year.

Are they all 1A titles? I think that only totals 2 "actual" rings, actual meaning 3A or above.

Viera, best 4 under the radar linebackers in Florida.  1 mid-major commit.  Cocoa scored in final 2 minutes, however to be honest their 2nd 1/2 of year opp. are weak.

Cancelled game against Kiss Osceola would of been a great gauge of where defense is and how dominant they can be. They have a great starting 11, just not a lot of quality depth.

BTW is still better than any other teams in region 3 of 4a and i can make the arguement better than anyone else cocoa will play in playoffs

Wether or not they down is irrelevant to fact that cocoa is basically being handed 4a on a silver platter

Your path includes 2 teams with a pulse

    University School and raines

Do you realize how many teams would wish that Those 2 would be their toughest opponents in order to win state lol

    Viera for one!

Idk about Rockledge having too many weapons for Cocoa to happen. Yes the game will be closer but Cocoa will and have played teams with more talent than Rockledge. Really all Cocoa has to do is stop the run. Which won't be hard

    I agree. Just don't tell Tiger86

  5. Teams trade tds  with 7 minutes left. Rock 37-  MI 14. This one goes about like I thought it would, Corbin switching from RB to QB seems to have worked well. Not really much of a passing threat but they weren't getting it done through the air anyways. Having the ball in the hands of one of the top players in Brevard on every play has got to produce some exciting offense moving forward . Look out Cocoa, the  ROCK is coming for you !

Bolles and Trinity aren't like AHP img or sta but i see what you mean

Bolles and Trinity can lose to area publics because both aren't as strong as past years

Agree, but in the past they have had some teams which were loaded with DIV 1 recruits. Some type of guideline could be used, say privates finishing in top 4 for 3 years in a row are kicked out for at least 2 years. Its not just  a punishment for recruiting players but a way for publics to compete on a more even level with each other. Might keep parents from making a move to those schools. In Brevard,  public schools Cocoa and Rockledge led in transfers with around 10 each  with MCC coming in at 3rd with 5. So not gonna help publics in Brevard like it would in major areas like Miami,Tampa,Jacksonville,Orlando.

Well outside of sta and Maybe AHP the privates usually are beatable by top teams across the state

Those 2 usually only only lose to a select few elites in south Florida or out of state

I was wondering when STA would work its way into this thread. The elephant in the room, although you didn't bring it up in your original comment on privates. I'm guessing if they were  bumped up to 8A , you or me for that matter, wouldn't have as big a problem with the private school. At the beginning of a season it sucks to know no matter how great your team is, the best they can do is getting rolled by STA in the championship game, as Viera did two years ago. Our school did the PUBLIC School State Champion bit, but still leaves a bad taste in the mouth knowing your team competed against a college division 1 talented team.

My solution is to kick 4-5 privates out of FHSAA and join IMG. AHP,Bolles,Trinity all should be shown the door for play-offs. Sure test yourself by scheduling them in regular season, like Venice-IMG a couple weeks ago. But play-offs should be for public schools and those under-developed privates(MCC, Holy Trinity, ect.)

If this new system is trash then old one was a dumpster fire

I don't think anyone will argue that one. People who implemented this plan should have foreseen the issue of people tanking on schedules. I guess more points need to be added for scheduling and losing to a better opponent. This should prevent more and more schools from going lower in class but actually working with one another to make better match-ups and not settling like Cocoa Beach for example.

  9. Viera played down at Vero Beach for preseason game. One of the best atmospheres I have been a part of for sure. For anyone that knows' how good is the Vero team compared to recent ones. They seem to have a history of having a great regular season record and then laying an egg first couple rounds of play-offs. From our game, it was hard to tell because Viera had 7 turnovers but was driving for the winning score in 4th qt. Vero Beach had talent all over the field and seemed to have plenty of depth also.

  10. As of now in 4A we have an eligible Cocoa Beach (4-2) team making play-offs and in another region BTW might not make it. I realize changes will be made next year for qualification but this is a textbook example of the problem. Ranked #2 in 4A BTW had one of the toughest schedules in the state or country for that matter. Cocoa Beach has wins against #515,#549,#550,#565 in the state and none of those teams have a winning record, combined 7-24 record.

From my glance, Cocoa Beach did the opposite of BTW by looking for the weakest schedule it could book hoping wins against the pathetic would garner more points than losses to mediocre teams.  This is the key point in this topic, we don't want to reward this kind of scheduling by Cocoa Beach and the penalty has to be missing play-offs.Every school should at minimum be trying to schedule a couple games each year where they are challenging themselves(even expecting a loss). Cocoa Beaches losses were to #335 and #428, not exactly powerhouses, but at least indicative of where more of their games should of been scheduled to be considered for a play-off birth.

I just brought this up because I realized Cocoa Beach and BTW were now in the same class, how ironic it could be as terrible a playoff game with Cocoa Beach included would be and how sad BTW being excluded.

  11. Can't see IMG losing to a one-dimensional team. Too much talent and too well coached. Only way to beat these elite teams is with mis-direction and fooling defense into passing in run situation and vise-versa. Hope for a good game.

  12. Really can't throw the Cocoa loss out there, At Cocoa, 2OT, lost on 4th down muffed snap throw to the end zone catch.Won't take anything away from Cocoa but no gap between the two. I'm comfortable sliding them behind Vero at #9. Was very impressed with Vero in the Football Classic game they played us. Cluster those 3 teams together through the rest of the season  and you would be good to go. Of course Vero Beach seemed to be deeper than either Viera or Cocoa and wouldn't be as vulnerable if key injuries were to happen.
