  1. Even back in the day, 1980s you knew you were going to get a lot of penalties, far more than your average, at Plant City especially and Hillsborough County in general. Frankly one game I went to was the worst officiated game ever. And I will say it, those refs cheated. Mis-spots, phantom calls, and so forth. It is sad to see that this has not changed. Lakeland got penalty after penalty, especially if they got near the PC red zone this year. Despite this, Lakeland still couldn't be touched by PC or Durant. Those teams just weren't good enough to do much even with help. But it is notoriously well known that non Hillsborough teams have to fight both the refs and the opposing team. Unfortunate that it has never been fixed. But current officiating is terrible at almost every level, even at flag football.
  2. Lakeland had 2 TDs called back last night, by penalties, and Bowman didn't play. FWIW
  3. Lakeland which did not have Bowman or two other starters playing, only put 27 on Durant, of course they were fighting the Hillsborough refs as they always have to do. So its at Bloomingdale this week. The final "challenge" before the playoffs. Kathleen isn't as good as last year. Bowman is expected to play as are the two walking wounded. Always have to factor in the refs when going to the Plant City area schools. Any thoughts, other than recruiting of course.
  4. Losing in OT is nothing to be ashamed of. Lee isn't a nobody. Move on to the next game.
  5. I understood him to mean see Lee again in the Playoffs.
  6. IMG schedules who they can and can't always be picky. A lot goes into their schedule, airline reservations, hotels etc... And no team schedules all elite games.
  7. Who is this guy? I certainly never said anything about Edgewater being good or bad or the best, just simply pointed out another loss for a Florida team from a team OOS.
  8. A message that no one that matters seems to care about. But you go right on being funny. You have that going for you at least.
  9. Hahahahahahahaha you still say the funniest things, not brilliant but funny!
  10. A win is a win. Can I quote you on that? But not if Lakeland does it with their superteam, right?
  11. Hahahahahahaha Well there you have it... Nothing of value!
  12. Transfers Student-athletes are immediately eligible (as long as they meet all other eligibility standards – including, but not limited to age, limit of eligibility, pre-participation physical exam, GPA, and consent and liability release) at the school in which he or she first attends each school year; the school in which the student makes himself or herself a candidate for an athletic team by engaging in practice or tryouts before enrolling; or the school to which the student has transferred in accordance with s. 1006.20 (2) (a). If the transfer occurs during the school year, the student may seek to immediately join an existing team if: A roster spot is available The student has the requisite skill and ability to participate in the sport according to the coach of the team The student has not participated in the same sport at another school during the same school year – unless the student meets one of the following exceptions: Dependent child of active duty military personnel whose move resulted from military orders Relocation due to a foster care placement in a different school zone Move due to court-ordered change in custody due to separation or divorce, or the serious illness or death of a custodial parent Authorized for good cause in the district or charter school policy
  13. No one that matters cares anymore it appears. Something you can't prove but only make baseless allegations about.
  14. Lakeland is a great football team, some say a superteam, full of nothing but Dreadnaught students and they will win many games. If you have a problem, it is with the parents of these students, only they can go through the motions to legitimately transfer their kids, not coaches. Either prove Lakeland is recruiting or continue howling in the wind accusations, no one really cares either way it seems. Transfers are allowed to play sports. There it is! Nothing to defend here since it's within the rules. Don't like it then petition to change the rules. Oh and it's not 1984 anymore. Time for some on this board to move ahead with the realities of football 2019. It's never going back to the way it was. Next Game : Centennial @ Lakeland
  15. Well parents aren't likely going to go back to the days before charter schools, magnet schools, vouchers and the like. Even liberals in big cities seek out the "better" schools. Going to the school you are districted for is quickly becoming archaic these days. That ship has sailed, the genie is out of the bottle and so forth...
  16. No, I'm saying unless you have proof, real proof that a school is recruiting, then show that proof or send it to the proper authority but to accuse a program, over and over again, is simply useless noise and sour grapes. Any dope can make accusations, doesn't make those accusations factual. Hornetfan has not offered any proof only that he has talked to someone, who knows someone...etc, etc... Lakeland may be recruiting but not because Hornetfan says so.
  17. Coaches are hired to win football games not enhance the kids HS experience. Now this may be an adjunct to the job, but it is why coaches are fired far more easily than teachers, well one of the reasons. Anyway you lack depth in your views.
  18. If you know then name the kids and the coach! Otherwise it's hearsay, actually it's hearsay anyway, since you have no first hand knowledge. You really don't have anything to offer except sour grapes that the school system isn't how you wish it to be.
  19. So you have no real evidence that anyone is recruiting. Thus you're making baseless accusations. Good to know.
  20. Evidence? Or simply baseless accusations? Or are you guessing?
  21. Football as a whole is likely facing a decline in popularity. The whole CTE situation has put a crimp on things. In 2004, 05 and 06 during Lakeland's run the stadium was packed. Not so much anymore despite the success. And our teachers have always had to struggle, and lot of great teachers can't pass the certification test, especially the math portion. Why a Drama teacher, who has a bachelors degree, should be proficient in math in order to teach drama or the arts astounds me. If our schools were equal then theoretically a junior transferring in should be on par with a junior at the new HS, but alas, very few things are equal. But the charter school/non traditional public school genie is out of the bottle, for good or bad.
  22. How does a team abuse the transfer rules? If there are rules in place then everyone plays by that deck.
