  1. I'm thinking of getting a free trial of the FUBO service which does carry Bally Sports. The issue for NJ, and elsewhere, is whether the Sports Sun or Sports Florida "channels" are viewable for them. Bally restricts viewership based on your local area. Link below tells what your eligible for. https://getmyhometeams.com/
  2. 2 weeks in row BT making that trip
  3. Thank you for the complete explanation. Given the converse of your example above, a #7 district champ hosts against a #2 non-champ, which is the case with my favorite team (#2 Niceville). Good to know the latter statement as well. We should host next round if we get by Nease.
  4. Can someone fill me in or provide a link on how hosting sites are determined? I was under the impression that district champions would host 1st round. Apparently not? Thanks!
  5. Basically the Ch 3 Prep Football Final View Area. Any other folks here from area?
  6. Looks to be streaming on NFHS by CM. Hoping for quality broadcast. Any other known streams?
  7. First off thank both of you for your service. I'm ancient. USAF Eglin 1976-1980. Never left. Game Recap: NV Eagles (4S) over NMB Chargers (2M) 42-6. NMB takes opening drive, gets early big play, few more good plays. Score. NV adjusts, shuts them out rest of the way. No real other threat. NV scores 1st poss. Offense gets going over 1st half. Up 21-6. Offense stays pretty sharp, gave up a couple forced fumbles, but overall had it's way. Punted 2 or 3 times in game. Micah Turner with dramatic stats : 13 carries, 98 yd, 5 TDs, but split time with another RB (Demontre Allen) who actually started and had more carries. Turner used mostly on short yardage wildcat, thus the TDs. NV Team Thoughts: Stayed pretty vanilla. Mostly read option with minimal QB runs. Wildcat in very shortage. A few jet sweeps, bubble screens, RB flairs sprinkled in. Only a couple of downfield passes, both ~12 yd sideline outs. New QB (Harrison Orr -been on team, not much as QB, very good defender) didn't throw a whole lot so too early to tell. Didn't run much either. Good zip and adequate accuracy when he did. Decent size/strength for HS. OL - pretty stout, 3 or 4th round quality, thus the vanilla O tonight. WR - couldn't tell much. Did see some excellent blocking on the edge a few times. Decent YAC in the few opportunities presented. D - Other than big play on 1st drive didn't allow much. Pretty stout in the interior. Very good LB play. Yet to be tested against quality passing team. Pretty quick in the secondary, overall good tackling in space. Will get aggressive in passing situations. Handful of sacks, and when athletic QB broke out recovery was pretty good. ST - Very good. Pretty decent kicker. Very good punter. No return opportunities to speak of. Overall, potential to get round 3 or 4 of playoffs if the QB can throw when we need it. Have a small # of FBS athletes, pretty decent looking in the trenches. Good start to season. Ocala Vanguard up next. NMB Thoughts: Athletic, fast. Short roster, probably a number of two-ways. Wore down due to NV conditioning late. Decent passing attack, but not so much when forced to. Several sacks. Kicking/Punting not so good.
  8. Man I've been under a rock I guess.. News to me. Good to hear, they've been wanting one over there for a while. Wish Coach Green well. His dad was a good one over at FWB.
  9. Thanks, and I don't understand the report. Stringer likely wasn't even there in person. Varsity played the 1st half, I'm positive. My radio guy would know. I was there for 2nd half and I KNOW that wasn't varsity on NHS side anyway (maybe Lincolns?). Maybe the coaches crossed-wires on the format?? I know as I made my way in I passed a number of Lincoln guys who played the 1st half (still sweaty) who were out of their pads and they didn't look like JV to me. Confused. I know the Lafortune QB is at least 3rd string (and should be, heady but immature arm). And wow, we got Cabellero from Navarre this year?! Didn't know that.
  10. Thanks for the memories guys. Yes we won one of the suspenseful playoff games that year. Had a bunch more over the years on the other end. It fluctuates with us. If we get a few high caliber athlete in a given year we can compete at the higher level but for me it's usually a thrill to get past round 2. Our only ship was 1988 and we were loaded and we've sniffed it a couple other times but didn't have the overall talent to break through. I'd say we're a relatively humble fanbase and know where we lie. Complimentary to the better teams, but yes it hurts to lose the nail-biters to Lakeland, Edgewater, Manatee, when we get the chance. Niceville FB is your typical small-town atmosphere. We're basically a land-locked community, and island if you will enclosed by the Eglin AFB complex and it's large forested test range and the ChoctawHatchee bay. Roads/bridges out lead to Fort Walton Beach (FWB HS, ChoctawHatchee HS), Crestview, and Destin (no HS). I think nowadays we get some students from Destin (fishing/beach/tourist town) since they have to go a distance regardless. Friday nights are still a pretty big deal and we do have excellent fan support. Stadium near capacity. Band always near 300. We do get a lot of compliments on the stadium, but it's not all that big really, just the layout gives it that feel. 20-20 on homeside is all season ticket holders and they're hard to come by. Family's had ours since late 80's and took 3 years on waiting list to get them. Youth FB is still big. Jr HS feeders contend in the county, and we've been blessed to have coaches who've built and maintained a quality program for many years. We've rarely missed the playoffs over the last few decades. We can't count on getting by on athleticism alone, so as you expect, there is much emphasis on fundamentals, great conditioning, smart-play and execution, and (hopefully) top play-calling. When we do get a few FBS level recruits that come our way, it's a bonus and we usually do well with it. I will admit, that we (and the other surrounding communities) benefit from the military installation here. It's what bring new folks in, many who retire in the area often when their kids are of HS age and I'd fairly say most of our FBS level recruits got here that way.
  11. I confess I showed up only for the 2nd half having been told that would be the varsity half, which was wrong. I was brought up to date by my season ticket "neighbor" who I'd firmly trust. I just now confirmed with another friend who happens to be on the official radio crew and he corroborates what I first said, so don't know where the discrepancy lies. Wouldn't mind seeing links. Can't find anything on NWFDailyNews unless it's behind paywall.
  12. Not sure where that originates. NV was up 31-7 after the Varsity 1st half. Down 14-11 in 2nd half using the 2's/JV players.
  13. I'm a Nicevillian. Just wondering if anyone knew much about the NMB Chargers coming to town this Friday. Odd matchup I'd say. Long way for them to come. Heck I don't even know much about my Eagles at this point. Will be sitting in my season seats for the 1st time in 2 years due to to covid and unrelated health issues. Are they well-respected and relevant down there? Star players? I don't think we have too many highly-recruits this year.
  14. Like I'm a 5 year old. Just haven't had time to keep up with it. I understand the current classifications with big change being Metro and Suburban and champs awarded for each. The population thing throws me, because comparing a 3M to a 3S for instance, you know the 3M has a much bigger population. I assume they're still using some rating system for playoff seedings? Wouldn't it need to account for that?
  15. American Heritage Plantation had their 9/17 away game against Lousiana's Edna Carr cancelled late last week.
  16. As said, TJ takes lead with 9 secs left. Thought STA should've took the 15 celeb penalty from the TD on the EP but then TJ gets another 15yd penalty during EP, so kickoff 30 yds further back, giving STA a chance at a Hail Mary for the win, which failed. TJ 24-21.
  17. I am. Just checked score, Venice up 41-0!
  18. From what little I've seen this year, they look very stout. Key players to replace on O - QB C. Mobley, WR T. Hill, C. Leary and HB/FB #20 (Miller?) who I think was a key cog in the success of their running game. So will be interesting to see how they do there. Returners WR J. Connelly and RB CJ Baxter appear to be studs.
  19. Looks like they use 2 lenses so a single very wide angle is not needed, then digitally combine the 2 images side by side. Problem is you can often see a difference... one lense has a little more fogginess or slightly different brightness. I think there are some that are using no human intervention at all. No human could be that bad!! It's frustrating watching the focal point just randomly meander to the unused side of the field.
  20. I think at the lowest (worst) level this is what is used: https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/pixellot And it appears to use some sort of AI to attempt (poorly) to track the action. There seems to be quite a wide range of productions put out by differing schools best I can tell.
  21. I'd like to discuss this too, but I think we should start a new post so as to not clutter THIS_IS_DILLARD's game discussion. I'll start one here.
  22. In another thread Proseteye asked: Thought we could start new thread about the subject.
  23. I don't know a lot about Venice. Followed EW a little last year since my Eagles met them in the 7A semis. I know they lost some great talent, but they still look pretty stout from what I can tell. Watched a little of their spring game against 2020 8A runner up Kissimmee Osceola (down to wire but EW lost) and their blowout of Bishop Moore this year.
