Good point about the start times. When we go out to the games, we always eat somewhere first, but being retired enables us to get out a little early. When we go to a game from Palm Beach Co on southward to Dade Co, we leave The Fort a LOT early to avoid the rush hour traffic. I can't imagine what its like to live there, get off work at 5, have to battle the traffic, then get to a game. I remember going to a game at Boca Raton a couple of years ago to watch Westwood at Boca. It took us two hours and 45 minutes to get to Boca Raton HS. When we were walking towards the gate, Westwood's bus was just pulling into the parking lot. That delayed the game by 45 minutes. Going home? After we got up on I-95, it took an hour and eight minutes to get back to The Fort. 

I think they should only be allowed to play JV for the first year but we all know that such a rule won't be made.  FHSAA is beyond being fixed. 

Coach, I'm going to put you on the spot here, not so much to make you uncomfortable, but more to prove a point I've tried to make before.   When your star players got a text, did you report it to the FHSAA?  Did you get a screenshot of the text and send that to the FHSAA?   If not, why not?  Same questions for when the smaller schools came after your players.  I've long taken the position that the high school football coaches in Florida share an 'honor among thieves' philosophy.  In other words, not only do they 'know it's going on,' but they see it first hand and have uncontradicted evidence that their kids are being recruited by coaches at other schools.  But, most coaches are reluctant to turn anyone in for fear that someone might start throwing stones at the glass houses they're living in.  Again, not trying to put you on the spot, but I truly wonder why coaches see the problem with their own eyes, fail to take any action, but then complain about the problem.   Perhaps someone who has made the decision to move and coach elsewhere would be willing to fire a few parting shots as they cross the state line.  

The problem with "school choice for academic reasons" is that school choice for ATHLETIC reasons happens more often than the academic reasons. Typically. Because if a parent has a problem at MNW, they likely have the same type of problems at MC. If they have the same problems at Gainesville High, they probably have the same problems at Buccholz. If they are having issues at Crestivew, they likely will at Niceville. Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part a MAJORITY of public schools are relatively the same with their own little quirks. If parents don't like the school systems, their kids just go private and at that point school choice is irrelevant when it comes to transferring. But what it does allow is for athletes to jump around from school to school. I am all fine with it if kids/parents want to choose their school as a freshmen. That makes total sense. But once you transfer, unless you can document a parental job movement, you should be required to sit out a year of athletics. It worked before and they changed it to "give the kids the best chance" and it has just caused chaos and problems at every turn. It isn't better for kids to be at a different institution every year. Stability is important at that age. But they have people in their ears and THAT is the issue. It won't change back to how it used to be, and I am not saying it does, but they need to course correct and quickly or they will continue to lose great coaches to Georgia, Alabama, etc. because most I know are fed up with it. And again I know it isn't just a Florida issue, but Florida is among the worst.
