  1. I'm guessing we'll see you at Dillard on 9/10?
  2. The Kickoff Classic game with Chaminade @ West Boca we went to on Thursday before the Vero games was brutal too. The heat index was 106 at kickoff and there was no air stirring at all. I nearly wept with relief when the sun finally set over the Loxahatchee.
  3. That event at Vero last year was brutal to sit through.
  4. I have to think that it's a mix of Watkins (and maybe Davis at Westwood, who exceeded my expectations this year) starting to keep kids in The Fort, and Legacy opening up that led to the bottom falling out for TC this year. As you pointed out, Irv's offense isn't particularly enticing to skill players. I also think it's worth noting that last year, TC, PSL, SLW, Tradition and Legacy combined to go 12-38 with SLW accounting for 5 of those 12, and Legacy winning 4 games against teams that barely had a pulse.
  5. Looks like TC is trying to get their program back on the tracks with a much softer schedule than past years.
  6. We went over to Bradenton and saw ESL v IMG last year. They were big, fast and physical, and more than held their own.
  7. You got that right. We watched Bergen Catholic v West Boca last year. West Boca had more overall team speed, but Bergen was BIG, physical, well coached and played disciplined football. WB did a good job of hanging in there, but Bergen was impressive.
  8. Is Monds expected back? If nothing else, I've learned to not count on who is going to be on a roster until the season kicks off.
  9. Agree with all, and will add.... * This wasn't your Papaw's Chaminade team. I saw that when they played West Boca in the kickoff classic. If West Boca hadn't shot themselves in the foot several times, they could have won that game. Against Newman, their freshman QB played like...a freshman, and IMO that was the difference. * Bolles Xander Edwards is a LOAD for a sophomore. * Northwestern kept having to settle for FG against Raines, and it eventually bit them. Hats off to Raines for never giving in. * How many of those young, talented athletes at West Broward will still be playing for them next year? * Hats off to Lake Mary for not quitting. Jankowski opened a door for them, and they took advantage of it.
  10. The last 1:18 of that game rivals any coaching meltdown at any level that I've ever seen. You have an 8 point lead and the football at your own 40. Your opponent has two timeouts, meaning that those first two plays aren't going to milk much of the clock. You have a RB that has rushed for well over 200 yards on the night. Instead of giving the football to Hillsman while stressing ball security in staying inbounds, you snap the ball 7 yards deep to Monds three times and he takes a quick knee. You CAN'T be going that far backwards in that situation. Then you compound the yardage lost by having EJ White take a safety, giving up a worst case scenario of going to overtime, and putting your team in a worst case scenario of LOSING the football game in REGULATION. When Vero took over at the 40, the worst case scenario is that you fumble or are forced to punt and it's blocked. If that happens and LM scores, they still have to convert the 2 point PAT to get to overtime. In no universe should this game have been won in regulation by Lake Mary. Should Jankowitz be fire? No, of course not. His record is stellar and he seems to be a good man, but the last 1:18 of that meltdown can't be rationalized by anyone.
  11. Yeah, one more score could have put it away.
  12. True, and I really like Watkins and what he's done. Hopefully, he'll remember what happened and what Jankowski did and learn from it. I still can't wrap my mind around how someone with Jankowski's coaching record and experience botch that sequence so badly.
  13. Yeah, I saw the Norland game too. Both kicks were basically longshots for him, and the odds of completing a 10 yard pass were far better. Even with that, this loss is squarely on Jankowski.
