It was ungodly. It was only time all season I felt like I was getting sick from the heat. That is saying something. I attended the Lakeland Spring Jamboree where the first contest started at 11AM. Bryant Stadium felt left the Sun had tickets at the 50 yard line.
Public’s in Broward routinely get as many transfers as they desire. The difference is the coaching. And not necessarily the quality of coaching. The ability to keep players in house and get transfers to come. It’s how Deerfield Beach was a contender the entire time Glenn was there. The second he leaves they become a homecoming JV opponent.
Monarch and Western lately had tons of transfers. Not sure about right this second, but every team has the same chance to attract talent. It all starts with the right coaches
Private schools get to attract kids from public schools and take away the talent. You look at schools like Blanche Ely, Boyd Anderson and Dillard for example. It's no reason why these schools aren't competing at a high level. Just drive through these neighborhoods during football season and every little league park is standing room only. Could you imagine American Heritage, Cardinal Gibbons, Chaminade-Madonna and St. Thomas without those 5 star players. This is just Broward County though.
Now when it comes to Dade County private schools don't run anything which is why schools like Booker T. Washington, Carol City, Central, Homestead, Norland, Northwestern, Palmetto and Southridge are pretty good year in and out. Except for Columbus no other private school is doing anything.
