After missing last week due to illness, Joshua Wilson is back with a look at the Class 3A Regional Rankings with complete analysis as we head into Week 3.
REGION 1
1. Tallahassee Florida High, 3-0
2. Ocala Trinity Catholic, 0-1
3. Jacksonville Episcopal, 1-1
4. Pensacola Catholic, 0-2
5. Tallahassee Maclay, 1-0
6. Gainesville P.K. Yonge, 1-1
ANALYSIS: This region went through a lot this past week with four of the six ranked teams taking a loss in Week 2. Florida High is by the best team in the region and it remains to be seen who is truly the second and third best teams given all three teams from two through four had a loss last week.
REGION 2
1. Lakeland Christian, 2-0
2. Palm Beach Gardens Benjamin, 2-0
3. Orlando The First Academy, 2-0
4. Windermere Prep, 1-1
5. Avon Park, 1-1
6. Melbourne Central Catholic, 1-1
ANALYSIS: Our top three teams in the region are all off to 2-0 starts and they are only expected to win more games through the season. Windermere Prep, who is back in FHSAA play for the first time in years is sitting right in the middle of the pack and could make noise this year. Melbourne Central Catholic joins in on the fun after picking up their first win of the season last week.
REGION 3
1. Tampa Berkeley Prep, 2-0
2. Tampa Catholic, 2-0
3. Clearwater Central Catholic, 1-1
4. Clearwater Calvary Christian, 1-1
5. Tampa Carrollwood Day, 2-0
6. Sarasota Cardinal Mooney, 2-0
ANALYSIS: This is going to be a hard-fought region this year with all six teams likely to be the core group that gets the playoff seeds for Region 3. Berkley Prep did get a scare in Week 2 but still managed to come off with the win. Tampa Catholic also managed to squeeze out a Week 2 win, but Clearwater Central Catholic made some serious noise by thumping Trinity Catholic to get their first win of the season on the board.
REGION 4
1. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna, 1-1
2. Miami Edison, 1-1
3. West Palm Beach Gardens Cardinal Newman, 1-1
4. Miami Somerset Silver Palms, 1-1
5. Somerset South Homestead, 2-0
6. Miami Westminster Christian, 0-1
ANALYSIS: Chaminade-Madonna might have taken one on the chin last week, but that does not mean they are no longer the top team in the region or in Class 3A for that matter. Miami Edison rebound last week with a strong win over Blanche Ely while Cardinal Newman, Somerset Silver Palms, and Somerset South Homestead are all fighting for the middle of the pack.
