49-21 type game. Never really in doubt but interesting for a while.

They’re actually pretty good. They are not on central’s level. But they are a very very good high school football team.

Palmetto had Central beat a few years back at Palmetto but let it slip away right at the end. Don’t be surprised if Lakewood keeps it close for a half. Game is down south so that will be a factor.

Robinson and Godby went at it 2012 after the game. But same thing, a lot of jawing and not much in the way of “danger” to the kids. It’s unfortunate but sometimes it happens after heated playoff games. Hell, Dwyer and STA had a full fledged brawl in the 2016 playoffs and there were almost no suspensions.

Doe not look like much happened. Unfortunate for the kids but doesn’t seem like safety was really an issue. Bad sportsmanship yes, but safety no.

Sounds like the complaints that used to come from everyone after glades central hosted games. I guess what comes around goes around for the Muck.

Maybe lake city should build a 15,000 seat stadium right off I 75. There’s already a lot of little hotels right there. Add a few more and you’ve got a perfect location for finals

They should play the suburban classes in Gainesville. They should play the metro classes in Fort Lauderdale. That makes the most sense

I haven’t posted in the off-topic in forever. I don’t even open it anymore. It just pisses me off. But half the people on the off topic are pissed off one way or another, depending on the nature of the post. I guess it’s a necessary evil because it prevents it from slipping over to the other board. Much easier than outright banning or deleting. That’s too time-consuming.

You have to go back to previous conversations on this. I'm never for districts with less than 6 teams. 7 or 8 would be ideal. The Gadsen example can never happen in a sane world. That was the product of too many classes and the FHSAA being oversensitive to teams having to get on a bus to go and play...

Legitimate seeding is mostly found in pro sports and is based solely on records and nothing else. It’s not a group of nerds getting together to decide who should be ranked higher than somebody else. In the NCAA it’s necessary for basketball because there are so many teams. In college football it’s subjective nonsense based on trying to get the most attractive TV matchups. In high school it’s not a very good idea. Best ways is for a District champ and District runner-up to qualify and then you move up and down the bracket. The same applies to everyone and can change year to year. If a great team has to go on the road to beat a mediocre team so be it. Again, my opinion.

you seem to be having a problem with reading comprehension lately. I said I kind of liked it when it happened. It made good teams go on the road and get tougher in the playoffs. Maybe. Home field is big in the playoffs and mostly home teams won. District champs having home field occurs regardless. Difference with seedings is you play at the higher seed after the first round as opposed to traveling up or down the bracket as in years past. I kind of liked it when the perceived favorite travelled to another district champ up or down the bracket. Made that favorite prove it through adversity and made them better for the Final.

Definitely have different opinions on this. I still think the best way is to put teams in classes based on population. Not all of Hillsborough is at capacity. some examples of schools in the Tampa area not at capacity and still underperforming in football would include schools like Brandon, Spoto, Chamberlain, Blake, and believe it or not even Jefferson. Open transfers are not the panacea they are made out to be. And nine classes are simply too many; we could probably get away with four public school classes, two private school classes, and one elite open class. Limit it to say 24 teams and everybody makes the postseason with a first round bye for the best 8. This could be public schools and private schools that consistently win. They can schedule who they want in the regular season because there would be no district and everybody would qualify for the playoffs. Teams could be moved in and out of this based on their yearly performance.

It's a myth in some urban areas because schools are at capacity and "open transfers" are not really an option. So on paper, maybe there's an argument, but in reality, the rules don't apply to all schools. Classes based on population, IMO, are still the best alternative? What do you do with super teams like STA, AHP, Chaminade, TC, IMG, etc etc? Put them in an open private school class. What do you do with an MC? A small school that is oozing with FB talent? Give them the option of playing in the open class or in the largest class. Not perfect, but the current system is screwy. I mean, whats the difference between Lakeland and Plant or Armwood. No reason to separate these schools. Lakeland is in a county with 700K and borders Hillsborough, which has 1.4M. If kids want to get to Lakeland, they will.
