In my opinion, the Orlando area would have won more games. Of course I am biased. However, let me say that I feel Apopka, Osceola and Dr. Phillips, for sure, would have had solid winning records against the South Florida schools. I also feel that the remaining 4 Orlando area schools would have split 50/50 or come very close to 50/50 against the South Florida teams.
Why? In the case of Apopka, its single wing offense would give the South Florida teams fits, at least for the first two of the three years. With respect to DP and Osceola, they have just had really, really good teams each of the past three years. I feel 2016 Seminole was an excellent team, and that 2017 and 2016 Wekiva had stellar defenses. I am also fairly confident that Boone and Winter Park would have won enough games (even if not 50%) to ensure the Orlando area got over the hump the past three years.

They are so many mega cities there that few in the USA have ever heard of. One of my children lives in Wuxi which would be a top 10, probably top 5, USA city. But bet few in America have ever heard of it.

Oviedo High School where he went, ran an option attack and ran the ball 80+ percent of the time. Blake did not get the opportunity to showcase his QB skills much at the high school level. I saw him at least 3 or 4 times as a high school QB, and had no idea how to assess him at the position. He was a strong runner, but that is pretty much all that was evident.

Jeff may have been thought of as pro style. But in truth, in every sense of the word, he was dual threat, at least in high school.

It's an interesting story since Oxbridge had all the pieces to be successful and become a year in, year out top 15 team in Florida and top 50-60 program in America. They might need to follow the same path as U-school, another 3A team that caught fire quickly, but couldn't sustain the program. Shut up shop for a year and re-open with an all new mindset.
That is exactly what they may need to do. If they regroup, they could still field a competitive team. Jesuit, Clearwater Central Catholic, Bishop Moore, Trinity, Bolles, Melbourne Central Catholic and a number of other parochial and private schools do this with varying degrees of success.

Let's see where each of team is mid season. That's a long way away. By then we should have a good idea how things may play out. I am not going to lie. I thought VB was going to at least make the regional final last year. I was surprised when they lost in the second round at home.

BTW, I should have included Seminole in 8A, Region 1, in my list. I am still optimistic about their chances.
Regarding Edgewater, the most I can say is that they have some nice looking athletes and the coaching staff seems to know what it's doing. I think they could be anything from a first round playoff team to one that could make the regional final. It may come down to how much improvement they make as the season progresses.

Class 8A, Region 2, Dr. Phillips going for the repeat.
Class 7A, Region 1, Edgewater should be solid.

I will give you a team to consider. I am reluctant to make a bold prediction on them, except to say it's very possible they could make a run to the semifinal or even beyond. It is the Boone Braves. Now let's be clear, I am not predicting they will make the semis. What I am saying is, I would not be very surprised if they did based on how they looked in the spring. From 2006 to 2008, Boone make the semis three consecutive years. This year's team has the potential to do the same based on how they looked in their spring game. Last year, they actually came close to taking Wekiva out in the second round, leading late into the second half before losing. I think 2018 Boone is going to be better than 2017 Boone. In any event I expect them to be as good as the teams from 2006-2008.

If you take players who are free agents, didn't make college offers (or chose the offers weren't good enough for them) and a few players who want to bypass the college system you could have a minor league without directly effecting the college game

If you had a viable minor league system, with wages for the players that would at least allow for subsistence, many players who want to play pro would opt for that. But that does not mean the end of college football, just a loss of a yet to be determined percentage of kids that would opt for the minor league system instead.
What would be better for a kid? It all depends on individual circumstances and talents. For a very talented kid who wanted to play pro football but had little interest in academic pursuits, the answer would probably be the minor league as long as he felt there was a viable path from there to the pros. For another kid, who was unsure of whether he would make the pros, or who wanted to hedge his bets, then college would still be the preferred option.

I would qualify what you suggest with the following: 1. If a kid wants to transfer because the staff that recruited him decides to leave on its own volition, then that kid should not have to sit out a year. The only restriction I would place on him is that he can't follow his old coaching staff. Likewise, if a staff decides to leave they should not be allowed to take their recruits with them. Now if the separation is not voluntary, I would allow players to follow their old staff to a new school.

Actually, public school districts do receive some state funding based on population statistics. That does not negate the scandal of IMG receiving state funding. It should not, period!

If IMG were able, they would compete in the FHSAA playoffs for a state title. My take on IMG is, I would never schedule them if I were a public. No need to showcase my talent for them to poach it. If they want to hand out scholarships to elite kids, that is their prerogative. For as long as the parents of the kids paying full cost chose to subsidize this practice, that's fine. What I find particularly galling is what this is doing to the high school game. One reason I have been a fan of high school football is that it was the last bastion of purity, if you will. For certainly the college game was corrupted a long, long time ago. But with recent developments, I may have to start watching Pee Wee football if purity is my overarching concern.

Snuck in towards the end (third paragraph from the end), is information that could negate the relaxed transfer rules. Overall, though, I am in support of these new rules, as they reflect, at least in the major sports, the true situation of athletes playing sports in college.
I myself have never supported restrictions on a person's ability to find another employer, except in certain critical situations (such as national security interest, etc.). These new rules, overall, provide the athlete with an ability to move on from situations not deemed in their best interest.

I agree with that too. Unfortunately, the new rules promulgated by the state legislature, make it easy to build all star teams without and consequences since in most instances, no rules are violated in doing so. The days, of building programs from within successfully are now only available to a few teams that have an abundance of talent already within their zones.

IMG's model flies in the face of everything high school football was supposed to be about. It, and some other privates, are contributing to the "collegization" of the high school game. There is something sad about this.

It usually has more players at the point of attack, the ball is usually snapped to one of three different backs since there is no real QB. Therefore, you have to figure out who is going to get the snap, and which way they going to run the ball. The O Line not only blocks but pulls and you have guys running the opposite way from the play. It looks simple on film, but if you have not faced it, it's difficult to figure out. Bear in mind that the film posted by Columbia is six or seven years old and that new wrinkles have been added to the system since.
