  1. Yep. Hard to believe Dwyer was a state caliber team a few years ago. Must have lost out in the transfer pipeline wars!
  2. Until Dwyer proves it's back, my dough is on Gibbons!
  3. As one of my son's college classmates told him, "If you ain't cheating you ain't trying hard enough." It's as sign of the times.
  4. Lemon Bay is in Charlotte County; Venice is in South Sarasota County. Lemon Bay did have a winning year in 2017, but historically has been a weak program. For the QB, it is a step up in caliber given Venice's success over the years and the state title last year. I am sure he was encouraged by others to make the move. Don't know if he moved Counties to do this, or if he is commuting. If commuting it would be akin to a kid from say, Carol City, making the trip to St. Thomas in terms of commute time each day (greater distance, but about the same time, given more traffic in South Florida).
  5. That's probably a very inaccurate roster. Not saying they won't be good. But Max Preps is not know for accuracy!
  6. I would never have guessed Gainesville. Being so near, I would have figured you played many teams from that area in the playoffs. Live and learn!
  7. Frost is a good coach, though. They should seriously consider going.
  8. True, true. And there are no real religious issues to deal with.
  9. Yes, but Nebraska gonna be culture shock for them! I remember when a couple of Orlando area prospects went to Brigham Young in Utah. Within two years both had transferred.
  10. He is going to New Smyrna Beach. He lives in that town. This may be an issue for Mainland talent as it is not that far away.
  11. A good boss, hires good people. That is exactly right.
  12. They are looking for an easy win combined with a trip to Disney. They can then go home and say, they beat a big, bad Florida team. If I were in charge of a program, we would not roll that way. If our team was going to travel, it would be to play quality competition, not some doormat!
  13. It use to be the way it worked in the business world. Things there have gone in the same direction has high school sports. It is a national shift not restricted to high school athletics.
  14. There are a couple good match-ups in there. Unfortunately, these are few. The majority of these games should have never been scheduled.
  15. I watched the video as VB posts them on You Tube. Although a KOC, it was played like it was a regular season game. Starters were in pretty much the whole game, there were no relaxing of any of the rules, etc.
  16. KOC. They came from behind to win.
  17. Ahkeem Dixon was a big part of the offense. Trusty still at VB?
  18. All 4 had good coaching staffs at the time they made the state finals. All I think all four are also from relatively affluent, fast growing areas.
  19. Middle aged?! Back then I was a young pup and we are about the same age!! What you talking bout?
  20. Sounds pretty accurate to me. I was at the State Title game, and it was a good one for more than three quarters!
  21. The way I see things, Apopka has a chance to be very good. But at this stage, I will keep my fingers crossed. I will let you know how I feel after the blue and white game and the Spring scrimmage between Apopka, Pine Ridge and Orange City U. I believe the scrimmage is at Pine Ridge's home field.
  22. Bad Bird has it pretty much spot on. All skill kids are scheduled to come back. Heavy attrition due to graduation from both the OL and DL. Apopka usually finds linemen. But you never know. BT throws it a lot and our secondary has historically had trouble with QBs that spray the ball around. It should be an interesting game and replaces Norland after what happened last year.
  23. He broke his collar bone with that play. The play singlehandedly determined the outcome of the game. For Edgewater's other two QBs were not game ready.
