  1. In Orange County, it was due to today (Friday) being a student holiday. Since several Seminole County teams were in districts with Orange County teams, inter-county were play was on Thursday. In Dade County Thursday night games are usually due to shared field arrangements as many (probably the majority) of Dade public schools don't have their own fields.
  2. You were. The West Orange game could have gone either way. WO lost because the QB they started was not able to find his receivers with any consistency. But the WO defense did a great job containing Apopka's offense. Evans did not have enough on its defensive front to stop Apopka's run game and Apopka's offensive line punished them, especially in the second quarter. In fact Apopka's third touchdown, was scored despite Evans tackling the runner more than eight yards out. However, the line was able to push him into the end zone despite this. I agree on Lake Mary being a tough game mostly, in my opinion, because their quarterback is very talented for a sophomore and they have a couple tall receivers. Further, with last night's results, I think the winner of this game wins the district, so a lot is at stake.
  3. I am going to guess Seminole, St. Lucie and Lake. This is a blind guess, though.
  4. Yes, she would! No doubt about it. CCC is from her neck of the woods also.
  5. I remember that game. Vero was favored and got upset by a hot and cold Venice team. The following week, Edgewater beat Venice but lost in the State game to Norland when Norland's QB launched a Hail Mary with about 30 seconds on the clock.
  6. I have seen them on film. They have a lot of athletes which they always do, but they are not a complete team. Yes, I would pick them to beat VB, but I don't think they can get past Palmetto or South Dade or Columbus.
  7. Better, yes. Way better, no.
  8. Friday will tell the tale. If VB wins this game, I actually give them a shot at DB.
  9. I still think they win by a small margin, though. I don't think this VB team is as goods as some of the recent ones.
  10. I would not have guessed. Probably because they generally lost in the semis. I know they made state at least once, though.
  11. I don't think this Chaminade team is that good. With that said, despite Vero scoring 31 in its last game, this year's team seems to lack a potent offense. I suspect Chaminade wins this game by about 10.
  12. The key is to just make the playoffs. After that, it is one game at a time.
  13. Apopka's three titles were won from the district runner up slot.
  14. This is going to be a good game. Can the Tigers rebound from the disappointing loss last week?
  15. Armwood, St. Thomas Aquinas, Miami Central, Booker T. Washington, Trinity Christian, Dr. Phillips?
  16. Carol City lost a coach to Florida Memorial. Not sure if he was the HBC. ICE also went there
  17. Time will tell. What I do know is that Lakeland has the talent to win again. I can't speak too much for Armwood, but regarding Edgewater, the team they have this year has many of the same faces as last year. They were juniors and sophomores then, this year they are seniors and juniors. Their QB is not as good an athlete as the kid they had last year, but he is a true QB unlike 2018 when they had an athlete at the position. If this year's Lakeland team gets past Armwood and is playing as well as last year's did, then I believe they would beat Edgewater again. But if they are a little bit behind last year's team, Edgewater has a decent chance.
  18. Time changes everything. Rockledge is a distance away from Palm Bay.
  19. When all those kids went to Palm Bay High, they were a force to reckon with.
  20. Right there is a huge part of the reason that Florida high school football is not what it was twenty or thirty years ago when the talent was much more spread out and there were multiple solid teams. Today we have a small cadre of teams with outstanding talent an okay middle that will never compete for a state title, and multiple teams that cannot compete to the extent that in Dade County many of the large (8a and 7a) have seen the need to go independent. Personally, I don't see this as healthy. But it is what it is ...
  21. Interesting ... do they compete for talent with the Broward privates or any of the better public schools?
  22. Have they had multiple coaching changes?
