Yes there was an article in the Panama City News Herald. He is from Bristol(Liberty County) and has been an assistant both at Liberty and at Blountstown. Looks to be a solid hire.

That is very interesting. I wonder if he will be coaching basketball also. You used to see that in the old days at small schools where one guy would be the HC for football, basketball, and baseball.

I also think a some of these spring games and KOCs could change due to some of the coaching changes. I was talking to an assistant coach at a nearby school who said their spring game was up in the air now because of coaching changes at both schools.

Has there been any talk from FHSAA about changing Pahokee's classification or is that just speculation based on what was done to Trenton? If this is the precedent FHSAA is setting then what will be done to punish larger schools, some schools would benefit from moving up. It would seem that an organization like FHSAA would have not only rules but the punishment for breaking such rules already in place, I have seen teams forced to forfeit games and titles but never required to move up to a higher classification.

For a kickoff classic you really just need to find a fundamentally sound team so your starters can get a little work in and your backups and jv can some reps. The main thing is to find out what you need to fix over the following week and coming out healthy.

Sometimes the moment is too big for the player, sometimes you run up against a superior team, sometimes the coaches don't have a player ready, and sometimes you are just off. I try never to judge a player or team by one game although that is often all we have to go on. Lakeland has always been a juggernaut and I totally understand the transfer.

Kids will make stupid mistakes and hopefully they are able to recover without ruining their lives.

When I read the screenshot from the Trenton case I assumed that the players had talked previously. I don't know what the facts are in the Trenton case it just bothers me that a school can be punished for actions of a student. In my scenario I'm just showing that you could set a school up if you were so inclined.

It would be real easy to set another school up. I'm not saying this is what happened but a coach could have a kid text a player at another school saying "Hey me and Bubba are thinking about coming to school at high school X, what do you think our chances are for playing time are?" the player he texted responds "We lost some key guy if you and Bubba are coming you will both probably start we need you guys it will be great" Then the player that initiated the conversation can screen shot the text reply and give it to his coach who then gives it to FHSAA and "BAM" the target school is punished all because of a teenager replying to a text. This is all hypothetical but that is a simple setup.

But private schools do recruit solely for athletic reasons. There are plenty of ball players at private schools that can't afford to attend the schools and amazingly they get to go, but their sibling who is not as good an athlete just can't quite meet the requirements. I personally don't have a problem with it if the kid can get a better education through their god-given abilities but let's not pretend for a second that private schools aren't actively recruiting athletes from the public schools. You state that an OTC student can encourage a player to attend there because they don't ultimately have the authority to determine who can attend there but I guess the Trenton kid must have have that authority. I'm not trying to be confrontational but public and private schools always have and always will be treated differently.

As the father of a teenager responsible use of social media is something I have stressed to my son for several years. There are so many things that can get a kid into trouble when it goes on social media. My issue with this case is I just don't think a school should be held responsible for the actions of a student away from school. There is a way to use this to sabotage other schools if someone was so inclined.
