  1. There’s a ton of parity in the 16-25 range anyway...
  2. Updated. Agree with both of those points.
  3. That is correct --- all have been at DP since their freshman year with the exception of the lone QB transfer.
  4. DP had two more 3 stars last season, for a total of 6. Tanner Ingle (DB) - NC State Braxton Clark (DB) - Nebraska Also the QB, Besean McCray, was a 2-star recruit. Offers should be coming in for others pretty soon.
  5. Switch Vanguard and Dr. Phillips. Vanguard could take i-75 south to Tampa from Ocala and it keeps the metro Orlando area in one chunk.
  6. Dr. Phillips (8A) transfer-in's for 2017: QB - BeSean McCray - 166/263, 18 TD, 5 INT - 763 rush yards, 9 TD - Surprisingly, DP had net transfers of negative-5 for the classes of 2018 and 2019...this includes the following players who left (all major contributors on the teams they transferred to): Marcus Tillman (LB, Jones, high D1), JeQuan Burton (WR, Jones, D1), Chance Bush (DB, Apopka, D1), Caleb McMillan (RB, Bishop Moore, D1), Keanu Kong (QB, Bishop Moore), Alex Eleyssami (QB, TFA).
  7. Josh does a great job providing us with content and a well-moderated forum to discuss high school football. If you can, donate at the following link. https://www.gofundme.com/florida-hs-football-1819-coverage
  8. In my opinion Riverview had the best offense in 8A last year. I am also in the dark completely on them but expect them to be a major 8A Region 2 contender based on their general trend. They were eliminated by DP 28-19 in the quarterfinals last season.
  9. It made no objective sense. Maybe if 7A was leaps and bounds ahead of 8A but that was not the case. Anyway, one easy screw up like that and I lose all faith in one’s ability to do all 50 states.
  10. Ah yes, the poll that put all 7A final four teams (including Bartram Trail and Plant) over the 8A champion last year in the end-of-year poll... Some people just like making lists... pass.
  11. Become better at thread names.
  12. Aquinas? Just figure they’ve won enough that maybe two were shoot outs
  13. Badbird you hit the nail on the head. DP plays agressively and loose. You see it in the warm ups, etc... But there is a solid core of expectations. Coach Wells trusts the team leaders to keep the rest in line - they self-police. It’s high energy, high expectation.
  14. Amend what I stated to include Broward (public and private) and I believe it is accurate to say that they’d be the best state. This is especially true from a talent perspective (and total NFL players). I haven’t run the numbers, however. Last year was a bit of an outlier for Miami (down year). It’d be interesting to see composite program rankings from 2000-2017 or so to compare the urban areas.
  15. I agree with Darter in terms of the current rankings and the decade-long trend with Palm Beach falling off a bit. Tampa remains consistent. Orange County has risen (see previous post). I disagree with Darter in that DP and Apopka have three large class titles in six appearances over the past 8 years. That’s major top-2 consistency. Plant/Armwood is a very close comparison, however (DP and Plant each won two against each other in the playoffs from 2011-2014) The most drastic change, to me, is the fall off in the Bradenton-Manatee area and the typical powers out of Tallahassee. They were far above Orange County in the 90’s and 00’s. Based on those five I’d go: 1. Miami-Dade 2. Broward 3. Orange 4. Hillsborough 5. Palm Beach Miami & Broward are tops, easy.
  16. I enjoy your posts but those program rankings, based on W-L, do not take into account scheduling. A little bit misleading. Orange County has really blown up the past 5-10 years... The consistency of Apopka and DP is a good 1-2 punch that could compete with most counties. Miami-Dade is obviously #1. They would be the #1 state if the County was made a state.
  17. I think that Wekiva and Apopka will meet in the 8A Region 1 Championship. This would depend, of course, on the seeding. Both are state championship caliber teams IMO.
  18. Wow, Eatonville Wymore! I never knew Eatonville had a school. They are just north of Orlando. Found this old article: http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1987-09-18/news/0150000111_1_wymore-alternative-school-bobcats
  19. Orlando Evans. They were a great program in the 90's and the #1 reason DP never made a state run back then. The talent transfers to Jones, Oak Ridge, Olympia, DP, etc...
  20. My team was in the same class as Palm Beach Gardens. They beat Boone 21-7 in the second or third round, a team we lost to 17-14. We probably would have played them had we beaten Boone for the district title. We ended up losing a district tie breaker. 6A had a ton of parity in 2005. Reflecting back it was probably one of the weirder years of all time, especially in CFla. Lyman and Winter Springs were both good that year.
  21. South Lake perhaps. In the dark on Minneola.
