There is no “snitchin” in HS football. There is a set of rules. You either follow them or you don’t. Prepare for the consequences if you don’t.
-
You represent yourself very poorly on here. The playoff assessment is incorrect, for one (see region 2), and the tone is meant to belitte high athletes. Even when you stoop low, your assessment is incorrect. Nice.

DP should go 6-4 or 5-5, and will probably be a favorite in round one of the playoffs. The schedule is brutal. Then comes Vero Beach or Osceola in all likelihood if DP makes the second round. Osceola was up on DP 7-3 in the third when starters came out in the kickoff classic. The Apopka margin was very surprising. This team is young, but is certainly not garbage as our resident tough guy likes to refer to HS athletes. They have fought through a tough schedule that also included a 31-28 loss to a very strong West Orange team. Looking forward to seeing their progression through the season. Maybe we will pull of an upset or two. Mainland (this week) and Wekiva (in three weeks) loom and present an opportunity.

Lakeland at Apopka thoughts and observations
Pipe Dreams replied to DarterBlue2's topic in The Huddle
I actually think DP will be ready come playoff time and these tough games will pay off. West Orange had three big plays on offense (2 to their STUD WR, who is among the best I’ve seen at the HS level) and an INT return TD. DP adjusted and started to dominate but by then it was too late. The game was basically two separate blowouts within four quarters. I also like West Orange RB Nimea Hall. Bruiser and deceptively quick. Once DP puts it all together they’ll be a force for any of the teams in 8A Region 2, including Osceola, Vero Beach and Sarasota Riverview. Looking forward to the game. We are young on both sides of the ball but we’ve got a lot of talent. Good luck to both teams. As I’ve said many times APK is my second favorite program. -
Florida Classification Discussion & an Idea
Pipe Dreams replied to Pipe Dreams's topic in The Huddle
In addition my original proposal... Maybe add a 7th class... a rural classification consisting of 1A to 3A teams that meet the rural definition....... adding 4A for the rural class would be taking it too far with the powers that be there. - My original point — the Division 1, 2, 3, etc. idea will not be good for Florida HS football. If anything we need to combine some of the smaller classes (1-2A, 3-4A) and maybe add a separate rural class that has a wide enrollment range. -
New Central Florida HS to Open - What Will be the Impact?

I see that the FHSAA wants to fix a system that is not broken; the large classification playoffs. The idea of taking the previous two-year results for all programs and lumping them together into "Division 1" etc., is a horrid idea that will lead to 1) massive transfers to D1 programs; and 2) bad programs going 9-1 while elite programs go 5-5 because "it was unfair". This also does not simulate a real world environment of meritocracy. That said, the change introducing seeding was much needed and, in my opinion, made the Florida playoff system extremely interesting from a match-up perspective in the top three classifications. Last year, the 8A north playoffs were amazing (not just because we won). My question/idea is, has anybody considered COMBINING 1A & 2A, and COMBINING 3A & 4A, and adding one round to the playoffs for those classifications? (Edit: Remove the round 1 bye) This would result in 32 teams making the playoffs for each of the new classes. It would ALSO increase the number of teams in each region, reducing the amount of travel needed because there are a higher number of potential opponents within an x mile radius (don't argue with me on this... it's a brute fact). EDIT: There could also be a rural classification consisting of 1A, 2A and 3A teams that meet the definition of “rural” per the FHSAA. This class would have a wider enrollment range but would 1) cut on travel costs and 2) cut down on the number of teams in the new combined 1-2A and 3-4A classifications. Anyway, the resulting classes would be: 1A & 2A = the new 1A 3A & 4A = the new 2A Existing 5A = the new 3A Existing 6A = the new 4A Existing 7A = the new 5A Existing 8A = the new 6A New Class = Rural 1A-3A Schools

Wekiva makes offenses look pedestrian..... hope they keep it up
-
There ya go Wekiva!
-
Wekiva’s best chance is for their defense to give their offense short fields and capitalize on turnovers. Jones actually has a very good defense so that accounts for a bit of the 17 that Wekiva put up last week. Hopefully Wekiva can pull out the W, I’m rooting for them. In the case of DP-Lee — sorry to get off topic — Lee County is the real deal. They shut out defending 3A runner up Peach County last night, 33-0. Peach County hadn’t been shut out since 2007. The Trojans have allowed 55 total yards (-70 rushing yards) in their first three games.

St Thomas Has More Top-Tier Than Any Team in the US
Pipe Dreams replied to OldSchoolLion's topic in The Huddle
I don't care as much as you may think I do. I root for STA against out-of-state teams and don't mind the "if you build it they will come" logic. I just prefer that Florida public schools win titles as opposed to schools that are stacked to the brim with transfers. That's too synthetic for me. High school football is geographically focused. I like it being one town against another town. That's the urban planner in me. I'm old school I guess. -

You didn't answer the question I had. By the way, too many schools to name with players who have played together for years. Most go 5-5, 6-4, 7-4, 8-3... but there are some good programs out there that are bottom up. Apopka, Winter Park, Lake Brantley, Lake Mary, DP all have good feeder systems from Pop Warner and a large chunk of the kids play together for years. It was like that on my HS team. I'm just saying I hope somebody beats them. I prefer HS football to be void of all star teams, which STA clearly is. I think it cheapens the game at the HS level. Care about it. -

Why are they not classified like IMG? Losing an in-state game with that amount of talent is the equivalent of a losing season, IMO. As usual I'm hoping a public school with guys who have played together for 5+ years shows them the business. -

Gibbons/AHP lost to the top tier. I welcome arguments against. Florida is not deep with elite teams this year, or so it looks. I’m not even sure of Columbus at #4. I have DP at #29 for those wondering, just ahead of West Orange at #30. The two play week 3. Venice, Lee and Raines just outside. I also like —Miami Southridge, Sarasota Riverview, DeLand (1-0), Orlando Jones (0-1), St. Augustine, Baker County, Flagler Palm Coast (1-0), Bishop Moore (0-1) -

Every drive started from the 50 for Lee. DP went nowherr
-
Timber Creek struggled so we have an opportunity to regroup week 2.
-
DP having major problems on offense. I’d put them in the 7-10 range at this point. The defense can’t do it alone.
-
Vero looks good, 35-20
-
Vero’s offense (especially the receivers) looking good. Manatee is improved but Lakeland is wearing them out. Lakeland has some solid running backs.

DP has Lee County GA on Saturday. Most starters played the first half with the score 7-3 Osceola. Second half was a lot of sophomores and freshmen. The defense is just as good as last year, which was probably the second best in 8A behind Wekiva. The offense is behind the defense at this point but has the talent to get it done. O-line is the question mark but there are some good underclassmen. -
Better for this to happen week 0 than week 11. Falsifying documents... impermissible benefits... smh
