  1. Yes I do.....Mr Green at Lake City and Orange Park, Mr Scible as Willie Green's enabler....
  2. Lakeland- Bill Castle Palm Bay- Dan Burke Apopka- Rick Darlington Those were easy to name, but nothing is ever easy with them on the sideline....
  3. Yes, but Danny exposed us with his arm and legs. Didn't help that our best cover corner (AJ Brant) wreaked his knee and was never the same.
  4. DeLand has as much athletic talent as any small city in Florida. But they need strong willed personalities at the Head Coaching position. Fred Goldsmith, Howie Decristofolo, Wade Rollinson, and Kevin Pettis have proved this true. Keep the kids happy and at home. Play the best athletes. Run a discipline program that can relate to all players. And control pressure coming from off campus... Guaranteed Winner.
  5. Dwyer QB Danny Embick was a super high school athlete. He punted, played safety and could run and throw. The Venice beat down surprised me. Their two D-1 running backs (Salt and Pepper) were unstoppable.
  6. Bingo, bingo, winner, winner. Gatehouse Media owns the newspaper dailies in Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakeland, Daytona Beach, Ocala, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Fort Walton Beach, etc. They share printing and editorial content among the sister newspapers; but give each their own "hometown feel." Both the Ocala Star Banner and the Gainesville Sun are printed in the same plant, flipping print operations back and forth between the two cities. When the bean counters (Darter) take a knife to the Sports Department of both daily's, to increase profits, the Ranking's area will expand.
  7. Oh, I detected ProSets sarcasm, you didn't?
  8. careful what you wish for.....Homie don't play.....nice
  9. That's a shame. Saw him in Tallahassee lead Ely over Tampa Wharton for the Championship. The young man was a beast. RIP
  10. Not to nitpick OldSchoolLion but Mainland is 16-7 over last 7 yrs. in playoffs. FHSAA Record Book is incorrect. Though, I appreciate your work. 2011- 3 wins, lost to Miami Central - State Champ (stripped). 2012- 2 wins, lost to Naples 2013- 3 wins, lost to Miami Central- State Champ 2014- 3 wins, lost to Miami Central- State Champ 2015- 2 wins, lost to Miami Central- State Champ 2016- 2 wins, lost to Miami Carol Cty- State Champ 2017- 1 win, lost to Miami Carol Cty 7 years - 16 wins
  11. Come on Pipe, you know Mainland's one of them. Since the Bucs dropped down in classification to match their enrollment (2011) instead of playing two classes above they've had at least one playoff win each year since: 2011- 3 wins, lost to Miami Central - State Champ (stripped). 2012- 2 wins, lost to Naples 2013- 3 wins, lost to Miami Central- State Champ 2014- 3 wins, lost to Miami Central- State Champ 2015- 2 wins, lost to Miami Central- State Champ 2016- 2 wins, lost to Miami Carol Cty- State Champ 2017- 1 win, lost to Miami Carol Cty DP finally wins Championship (2017) and beats Mainland. PipeDreams forgets a$$ whippings in '15, '16.....selective memory
  12. NSB always has athletes. They stay home, with Wilkinson, they battle Mainland yearly for the district championship.
  13. I don't think this is going to end well. Five figures from this small casual crowd.
  14. No man, hanging around the house. Been hooked on the flopping, faking, and whining teams of the soccer World Cup. Nice non-stop action, but the diving and crying is ridiculous. Not to mention, unmanly! #chauvinistpig
  15. Heard Lake City, Gainesville, Flagler Palm Coast, Fort White, and Bartrum Trail among others are playing in Valdosta this weekend. You heading up there ?
  16. No fault there... fabulous catch. It did appear the corner was playing man to man with safety (helping) playing the ball.
  17. Although many years ago, my younger brother also played at Mainland High. We were in the "Big 8" Conference then. (Mainland, Deland, Sanford, Gainsville, Winter Haven, Lakeland, Lakeland Kathleen, ??). They traveled to Kathleen for a game. Mainland's pretty boy running back drew the attention of several Lakeland "honeys." Words were exchanged between the players/fans before, during, and after the game. Which Kathleen won 44-0. As Mainland loaded up on the bus a large crowd of "homers" gathered. Words were still flying. All the bus windows were raised up ( No A/C back then ). The crowd then started rocking the bus back and forth. The players hit the floor as an object broke one of the windows. According to my brother, not only did they get their ass whipped on the field, they still wanted more of that behind after the game. True story
  18. Well thought out as usual 'gatorman. Can we trust 600 coaches and AD's to get it right? Still need a Price Waterhouse type entity to ensure integrity and accuracy.
  19. Shout-out to (3) longtime Mainland assistant football coaches. 1996- xx , 23 years and counting : Terry (TA) Anthony - OC, Wr's, H.C. (Track) Jonathan (JB) Brown - DC, Lb's Walter Brunson - JV, (Track)
  20. Eight of those Southern winners (since '96) are bumped up small teams. Those that played above their in school population. As a central Florida homer, I also agree Orlando 8A is stronger then SFL 8A. But substitute with Miami NW, Central, Carol City, BTW, Killian, Jackson, and Mirimar and the south wins going away. With the exception of Jones and Bishop Moore all Orlando is 8A. The south is much different, more diverse, larger population, and many private powerhouses.
  21. FPC's head coach Travis Roland (Mainland '04, B-CU '08) continues with the vast improvement of this Flagler county school despite being there for only one year. That Jax 7 on 7 tourney had some of the better NE FL teams competing. He's a defensive specialist. His teams will always be strong on that side of the ball. Now with FPC's offense showing some life, under I believe an ex-Bethune-Cookman QB as coordinator (draw blank on name) , 8A north will have trouble if they under estimate either FPC or Port Orange's Spruce Creek....just my opinion.
  22. Besides the obvious advantages of team camaraderie, timing, physical conditioning, and summer fun, these get-togethers allow the coaching staff to have hands on contact with their players throughout the summer break. Remember, before 7 on 7, coach/player contact was very limited until the start of fall practice. Legally, that is! It also continues the modern day trend of sports specialization. Baseball, basketball, and soccer, all with club teams, play almost year round. The three sport high school athlete is becoming a thing of the past.
  23. Upon further refection we were there maybe 2000, 2001. '02 may have been home ? ....just don't remember
