  1. Daytona Mainland this Saturday morning ( Ref practice ) no other info
  2. You better talk to Coach D. That misdirection and power inside/outside running game has been working fine for years. Get some early season reps on the QB kneel down, hitch passes behind the line, and punting practice. Do that Darter and I'll buy. If not one of us might be a little irritable at the conclusion and drown his sorrows in several adult beverages.
  3. Google says it's a native name meaning " we will gather together here." Also the second largest lake in Osceola County has the same name. It's shortened to Lake Toho. I've heard news casters pronounce it as Lake TOE-HOE. (I don't claim grammer skills)
  4. Tried to post on page 5 Jones High thread but it is locked. Quess Josh didn't like something ? Ex- school Principle changed grades for 15 athletes to enhance their chances for college scholarships. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/features/education/school-zone/os-jones-high-principal-student-grades-roderik-waldon-20170727-story.html
  5. Wow ColumbiaFan, #1-8 all south Florida. Before the 2016 playoffs I wouldn't have questioned the top heavy south in your excellent Top 25. Time will time if the north is really back..... nice work 'Bo-man
  6. Agree with all of the above ! Not that he needs it, or would even want it, but I cheer Los (old 'canes) on when he battles those narrow minded bigots toe to toe on the national board. Generally his position is far outnumbered by the loonie haters on the right. But in my left wing world his intelligence cuts them to pieces. Sure he's condescending, rude, and a bully. He doesn't want to be a likeable character, therefore he isn't. Most of those clowns deserve what he gives them. It's not my nature to be that disrespectful (Drummer : the exception). I do admit to agreeing with his point of view "most" of the time. Not the way he says it, but the content of his thoughts. Peace..
  7. Hear anything about "prepgridiron.com". They still in business ? Thanks ahead of time for any info...
  8. Panther, nice season recap there. Problem is with 1-8 regional seeding, even if Dillard wins district, that four headed monster from Dade ( MNW, CC, MC, Norland ) hits you in round 1 or 2. Good luck, you're going to need it.
  9. Godby threw 4 interceptions and had 5 fumbles, losing 2. Cocoa averaged 2+ yards a carry and threw for 37 yards. Tiger kicker was 0-4 on FG attempts. Score 0-0, end of four. Cocoa blocks x-pt. in OT for 7-6 win and 1st football championship. Nothing wrong with being a "Homer" Cocoa2010 and winning a title (I'm one myself), but to a neutral observer( who was pulling for Cocoa ) and a witness too more then 3 dozen FHSAA football title games going back to the 1980's, that game was a DOG ! Peace my friend, see you Oct 6th or in O-TOWN when Cocoa goes for another championship.
  10. KeenD, many of the Flavarsity gang saw all those Cocoa championships in O-Town. Darter, Wave, MCannon, Laz, 307, BFleming, MrHigh, Peezy, Hearts bro, myself and others. Most all were Tiger fans. But you got to admit, that Godby game was pitiful. Both teams played poorly. You did get the ring..... anyway.
  11. Darter, I got the wings and the first few adult beverages......
  12. We all know Dade is loaded, but is there a stronger district in America then 6A-16 ? Your #1, #3, #4, and #6 reside there. Calpreps, Maxpreps, and others (Drummer) might go with a California or a New Jersey grouping. Zoepreps got my vote.
  13. Yes, Cocoa always seemed to run into Glades Central early. Did see Chevelle Buie break their back for a championship though
  14. Coach Danny Green had the Tiger's ready every year. Beat my Bucs at Disney complex in that time frame (2001?).
  15. Throw in the Apopka win in '01 against Miami Northwestern and the north wasn't looking so weak 15 or so years ago. In 2016, from my own viewing, 4A Cocoa beat Miami Booker T Washington, Ponte Vedra in 5A was right there with American Heritage-Plantation, Lake Gibson in 6A played equal to Miami Carol City, and 8A Dr. Phillips had Miami Southridge with only seconds remaining. Has the pendulum swung back to the north ? .... I conveniently forgot about 7A- St Thomas Aquinas.
  16. Thanks KeemD. Also forgot to mention, for the stat junkies out there, Palm Bay and Lincoln played each other 4 straight years in the state semi-finals. The winner won the state championship the following week. '99-Lincoln, '00-PB, '01-Lincoln,'02-PB #gottomuchtimeonmyhands
  17. Brevard county doesn't get enough recognition for what it's teams have accomplished over a long period of time. The county is an over achiever with loads of home grown athletes.
  18. Four years in a row Tallahassee Lincoln, and Palm Bay alternated as state champions. A couple of those times were in the state's largest classification. Wr Xavier Carter, FB Joe Cohen, and the DB who went to the Gator's and then the pro's ? Name slips my mind ?
  19. 'Cat, I saw those late '90s, early 2000's Rockledge teams. Didn't see alot of offense, but Coach Woods sure had one hell of a defense.
  20. I'll add the '70's to that Shark. Waldo Williams, Leon Bright, and Jimmy Black are a few that come to this aging mind. They won state championships in 1972, '78, and '79.
  21. See you October 6th. It should be interesting.
  22. Springfield Rutherford hasn't been a real player since the days of coach Hardin. Good to see them back.
