Basketball classifications are completely different when compared to football

So far I've identified 17 schools that will be in 2A suburban class in my part of the state. Most of these schools are on par with each other. Will be interesting if the districts make this the same region.  Those 17 are:

Lakeland Christian, Tenoroc, Discovery, Mulberry, Frostproof, Fort Meade, Avon Park, Lake Placid, Hardee, Desoto, Bradenton Bayshore, Sarasota Booker, Lemon Bay, Bishop Verot, Clewiston, LaBelle, Estero.

Out of those schools I see Lakeland Christian, Hardee, Bishop Verot and Clewiston doing something out of that group

Do you guys have Rockledge scheduled as usual?  Do you think that would be an excellent opponent for us in lieu of playing Cocoa?:D

Rockledge and Cocoa is an annual game due to the fact that Rockledge was Cocoa high before the split. Rockledge will definitely be an excellent opponent with a great QB and the top receiver in the county to go along with the best returning defense in Brevard other than Cocoa. Rockledge defense was very young so they're play next season should be on another level. What hurt them last season was not having a true backup QB.

I agree with everything you said, until the last sentence or 2. I know that it’s hard to detect sarcasm on the internet but I don’t like that you think Cocoa might not be able to keep pace offensive early, making it seem as if Cocoa has already lost 5 months before the game is even played. They certainly will have the firepower to do it, especially if Ross and Turner are returning. You guys should know that you have as good a shot as anyone else that Aquinas has scheduled thus far to knock them off.

Ryan Schneider is a great coach and as you said, was the OC at STA for several years; indicating that he has inside knowledge of the Raiders’ program that will assist them when it comes time to watch game film for Aquinas. I know that this contest isn’t being played in Week 1 but I believe that this game deserved the ESPN spotlight more than IMG vs Venice. IMG is going to beat us like a drum unless something spectacular happens. But you guys have a real chance at coming away with a victory against one of the top ranked teams in the nation, and in their own stadium to boot! I know I usually root for South Florida and am a bit of a homer but this time I’ll shed my bias and root for the Tigers to bring the victory home.

    Go Tigers!

Cocoa's offense is definitely capable. Ross is graduating and the top receivers are gone too. Along with the QB who is headed to UCF  as a PWO. But the QB of the future will be sophomore with a cannon of an arm. Only question mark is rb. The receivers that will be there have speed and height as well with one being 6'5. Defense will be solid as always. I see it being a great game. Honestly looking forward to seeing what Rockledge schedule looks like.

Madison is known for elite running backs. Big offensive line,  super physical play.  And the x factor.

What's the x factor? Wait first what does this have to do with the original subject matter or the discussion we were having at hand? Now back to this X factor......where was that x factor when Madison hosted Cocoa in the semifinals?

They might have some Peter Griffins on their O-line but being huge doesn't guarantee that the O-line will hold up against Cocoa's front four. Our offensive line last year struggled to block them when they lined up in-tight instead of in 4-man even gaps, generating pressure on nearly a quarter of Venice's total offensive snaps. And that might have been our best front line in school history! My feeling is that although STA might have some big runs in the game, Cocoa will be disciplined enough to stop them from running wild and create enough plays to force a few punts from Aquinas. If they become undisciplined and create senseless penalties, they will not be able to stop STA's offense and will sell the game away. None of my rhetoric means that STA will automatically win the game, though. The Tigers are going to make them work for it.

Cocoa should be solid in the defensive backfield again next season. Which this past season they had one of the top passing defenses in the state. They will dare STA to pass just like they did with Gibbons. So it's up to them to stop STA from running it down their throat. They are definitely capable of making it happen but will they be able to keep it up consistently. But it also benefits them to have that game early in the season.

Try mike coe 6 title games, over 200 wins . Sent 50 players D1. been in contact with every major power five coach.  Dude literally talked to Billy naper like it was nothing. I mean dude is the head coach at Florida.  I would be shooked.

Why would he be shook from talking to the head coach of UF. As a HC of a program that is perennial power and constantly has coaches coming recruit.  Speaking with head coaches from every type of school from major D1 all the way down to Juco and prep schools. So it becomes second nature. At the end of the they are just human.

I feel like this process has been an absolute dumpster fire from the start, but yesterday has made this thing feel like an absolute joke. The guy who is retiring (yet also has a significant amount of sway) comes out against this spilt a week before they’re supposed to meet. Meanwhile, Coaches have no idea what will happen, what districts will look like, etc. The FHSAA should be embarrassed by this whole thing because, when it doesn’t pass, there will be another month or so that goes by before districts get released. Hopefully they’ll be announced before Spring Football

It's crazy that he's able to have a say or have anything to do with it especially since he's gone in June.

I agree, that would be a nice rivalry kind of like we had over a decade ago with Palm Bay when they were rolling.  Haven't heard much scuttle butt regarding Melbourne, but we have played Rockledge in the past and they are in the mix for 2022.   Week 5 is when we are working on with our schedule.

Melbourne just had a breakout season that wasn't too much expected kinda like Merritt Island. But they didn't win the big games. They just have a lot of confidence after the season.

The Rockledge game is gonna be a defensive battle for sure. If y'all get Cocoa on board then yall will have the top 2 teams in Brevard on y'all schedule.

  10. 7 hours ago, Ray Icaza said:

Not sure where their schedule stands.  I do know they were trying to get a rematch with Cocoa but not getting much response from their end.  Heard several other top flight teams in the mix but not firmed up yet.  Venice is a hike and I think OHS would be open if you travel.  Call .

Hopefully Cocoa makes that game happen. Would be a great rivalry to build. If Melbourne keeps their momentum going maybe y'all could start a battle for 192 lol.

I know Melbourne OC started a back and forth with Cocoa's DB coach which prompted a debate on them scheduling each other week 1 or 4 I think.

You just said yall need transfers. But diss madison ability to win big with transfers.  Dude Venice probably could beat madison,  but madison with players from Tallahassee or south Georgia would smoke Venice buddy. Remember Fleming supposed to be at madison but he left. Everyone needs madison players.

Ummm doesn't Madison already have players from Tally and South Georgia?

  12. 18 minutes ago, VeniceIndiansFootball said:

He hasn’t said anything about it yet, but I would be seriously surprised if at least one of the two wasn’t on Venice’s schedule for next season. I promise you, we will come to the Tiger’s Den the next time Venice and Cocoa meet. 2020 and 2021 were just anomalies; Peacock was worried about Covid and wanted to avoid traveling as much as possible. Now that Covid is beginning to slowly clear up, expect the usual 6-4 split from most teams in terms of travel: 6 home games, and 4 away contests.

Rockledge should be pretty good since they were young on the defense and had a sophomore QB. They got 2 of Viera's top defenders that transferred in and got Satellite's top receiver who has big time offers and was one of the top receivers in the state.

Out of 14,000 schools 10 percent can beat them. Handily 5 percent.  All them Florida schools you want to mention sorry madison is on they level. Only the regular national teams could. Outside of that your crazy to think bc madison is highly rated in the country.  Please check they schedule fool before you reply Please ,please.

First of all who said I was gonna even mention the Florida teams that I know for a fact would beat Madison. Theres plenty of teams around the nation that would beat Madison. There's multiple from each state honestly.  I'm sorry I'm not a fool that's a die hard for a school I have no ties to and not even an alumn for. I know Madison's schedule fool. They rarely switch up their schedule. So please please before you reply really do your research and open you horizons to schools outside of Madison who are just as good or even better. And it's not schools that's just bigger than them either.
