Are any of Wilks old coaches still at Cocoa?  I heard the DC/LB and OL coaches went with him to New Smyrna, DB coach went to Viera, RB coach to Palm Bay

did new coach bring in a whole new staff?

There's some assistants that were part of Wilks staff that are still there. I'm not sure if they were officially apart of the staff but they did put in work.

How about Merritt Island?  Heardcthe new coach brought in lot of players and new coaches?  They used to be really good

I'm on the fence with Merritt Island. Their always up and down especially battling Palm Bay. But those are the 3 favorites in that district Palm Bay Merritt Island and Rockledge

    What does Rockledge bring back?

They graduated their Rb/QB  and WR  and a few defensive pieces. But they bring back their other main RB  along with key underclassmen that made big plays for them all season

They are already being stripped of their offense because of graduation but I heard that Viera lost their best player (a 3 star LB to Cocoa), if this is the case, then I think I'm very much right in calling Viera a one hit wonder.....

Viera still has some playmakers. He was just one of there best LB. But they have another one that is just as good if not better. This season will let us know for sure. They were definitely great together

    Damn right they were

Another funny thing,  of the big 3 in region 2 last year bartram trail got the lucky draw of facing the one they would have hosted

Had they matched up with Lakeland or viera then bartram trail would have had to travel

Bartram wouldn't have won on the road at Lakeland or Viera

Heck i doubt they would have beaten Plant had they been forced to travel

Bartram would have got destroyed by Lakeland or Viera the same way Cocoa put it on them.

Cocoa has gotten some transfers.

From what I know of is that a few transferred out and 3 transferred in. 2 Quaterbacks one of which is a senior from Mantanzas. The other a rising junior from Vero. The 3rd transfer is the only one from Brevard which is senior LB Brock Holland from Viera

St Frances has turned into the IMG of their region. So much that they had to go independent because teams were dropping them off the schedule. They are so stacked no team will stay close unless they are nationally top 10. Cocoa won't have the horses. Same way they fared against Bishop Gorman. Just another animal. St Frances will win by 4-5 touchdowns

Yea I see that for sure. They are definitely on a whole nother level than they were we they were originally scheduled to play them. You think St Frances  will be coming down for the game and will it be in the beginning of the season?

    St Frances

I remember a few seasons ago Cocoa was scheduled to host St Frances Academy and everything was finalized but the school board turned it down last minute. So they probably making up for that game. The same way they were in talks with Bishop Gorman years before they actually played.  So honestly this game is a few seasons too late but it'll be interesting to see how they compete.

The difference is most 7v7 in North Florida are team 7v7

I'm not aware of any all star travel team in North Florida like that one down in SFL

Pro Impact is a 7v7 team based out of Jax coached by a TCA coach and most of the players on that team comes from central Fla. Volusia,Brevard, Orange and so on

KeemD321: Why do we have classes? Why do schools have to file a population report? Many years ago it was agreed that the larger the school, the larger the talent pool and schools should be divided into classes  based on size. This is not a new concept.  Been around for years and is practiced in every state. But now we have a free for all with transfers. I saw on this very message board that Cocoa had 13 transfers from other schools like Titusville and Space Coast. Using the law of averages, 1 athlete is the same as 50 non-athletes.  Cocoa's population was 1048 = 4a. But you got 13 transfers? That's like adding 650 kids to the school. Which means Cocoa is really a 6A .

I know this don't make me popular with people but that's how I see it. Nothing personal against Cocoa. Otherwise why bother having classification and doing a population report?

I understand what you're saying but that was  2 seasons ago. The players from Space Coast very well could have been in Cocoa's school zone which space coast pulls from. Also a lot of the players that transferred into cocoa originally started at cocoa their freshmen years.Cocoa also had plenty of players transfer out as well.

I don't doubt that smaller schools can a do beat larger schools. Hell, Hardee even plays and wins over larger schools. That doesn't mean we should have to do it every week.  And yes we have even beat teams that have won a state title in years we got knocked out of the playoffs. Example: 2004 over Fort Meade.

Yes I get out and see Lakeland and Braden River on occasion.

Hardee vs Dunbar game last year. Half time score was 17-7 Hardee leading. Midway through the 3rd I said to my son next to me, Dunbar is going to win. They are bringing an outside blitz and our coaches are not picking up on it.

If you are referred to 4a Cocoa being able to put a pounding on Baker county, you are probably right. But then again Cocoa is like AHP, a stacked team hanging out in a smaller class.

Hardee would do fine against Madison or Pahokee.

How is Cocoa a stacked team?

This is something I've been thinking about for awhile now because this team is always ranked high in the state and make the title game almost every year.

They have a 1-2 record against Florida some I'm like hmmmm I wonder how would they do against Florida's Top 50 teams...???

Here is a list of some top 50 FL teams: (That I think could take out OS)

    South Dade

Viera( scored more points than Oscar Smith did against Vero)

    Dwyer

    Miramar

    Pahokee

    Palm Bay

    Palm Beach Central 2017

I mean think about it, if Florida can send the worst playoff team to Virginia and they beat their best playoff team, then that means that Florida hs Football is on another level OR Oscar Smith could be overrated

The season Cocoa destroyed Western Branch Va in 2015 Oscar Smith barely beat them 23-21

What kind of offense was Cocoa running last season and will the no huddle spread be a big change for the players? Since Cocoa has always done well with the offense they ran and formations they were used to, will their opponents be able to take more of an advantage in the first season when the offense is adjusting?  What will the learning curve be?

Cocoa moved to a more spread oriented offense last season and little bit the year before. So the only big difference really is the no huddle speed spread. Just think of UCF under Scott Frost and USF under Willie Taggart. That's how I see Cocoa's offense being. So they should put up big numbers and spread teams out well with their speed but will still run it down their throats.

Cocoa will have the same type of athletes as before. The question shouldnt be about X's and O's but about effort. The former teams at Cocoa played with great effort. Effort was and always will be the difference maker. When you take over a program that already has those intangible attributes instilled in each player you have to continue that process that separates them from other programs with the same type of athletes. In my opinion, that is priority over anything else in the continued success of the Cocoa football team.

The way their off season is going it looks like the players are putting in just as much work if not more. The tradition will definitely continue
