As of today Sophomore EJ White is a four star ATH, he had a very good freshman year playing QB, WR, RB, and, DB....He also had multiple long catches in the Dwyer game and one of which was a TD catch that was called back because of a penalty....I'm looking forward to watching his athleticism and contribution to the Vero Beach Football team
Vero's updated team:
Tyler Aronson 4 star QB
Tarvos Alford 4 star ATH/LB
Micah Champion Smith 4 star OT
EJ White 4 star WR/ATH
Isaiah Robert's 3 star WR
Amar Reynolds 3 star DB
Robert RJ Jones should be rated as well this is a player 247sports need to rate ASAP.
Johnathan Hillsman a Sophomore RB also needs to be watched.
I'm very excited about 2023 Vero Beach.
Also:
Xavion Griffon-WKU commit
Kevin Pollack- Army commit
Octavion Osby- probably a 3 star, would expect he’ll be getting some offers soon.

They looked good this week against a weak Dwyer team, obviously this Friday will tell a different story, I think you’ll see a much different MNW team than that one that was embarrassed at the Mecca on Saturday.
Vero has the tools to win the game, but as with any game against a quality opponent, the game will probably be won/lost in the trenches, and there Vero has been woeful the last several years, especially in the O-line. Hopefully the addition of Champ Smith and the experience of the others should provide Aronson the time he will need.

If so, then welcome back

Dwyer’s great teams are long gone. If Vero wins by less than 24 points they played a bad game.
I agree, but they did not look good in the spring game against Palm Bay Heritage, but that was spring and alot normally changes over summer with transfers, teams have had time to practice together, etc. Also, who knows if Heritage will be a playoff team this season or not, they have had good teams in the past.
Next week will certainly be a better barometer as to Vero’s aspirations versus reality this season.

Thank you for the insight. Venice only charges $50 for the season pass for all the home games with assigned seating, though I never usually sit in the stands. Haha, sitting in the "stands!" I'll see myself out now...
I don’t either, Vero’s home side fills up quickly so 1/2 of the visitors side is considered “home” - that’s where I usually sit as I tend to be a bit claustrophobic and prefer the openness of not having to sit shoulder to shoulder. The only issue is the longtime train horn Vero fan (who passed away recently, but his family and friends are taking up the mantle) on this side, so you have to deal with that whenever Vero scores and/or has a big play.

How much does VB charge for their season tickets?
It's $60 for the 8 home games, the seats are assigned, so you'll have "your" seat for every game. General admission/student section fills up the rest, I don't know the % make of season tickets vs GA though...

Somewhere I noticed a schedule that had us playing Lake Wales on 9/8 and Columbia, Lake City on our Nov bye week, Can anybody confirm that?
Lake Wales is playing Sebring on 9/8, Vero was playing John Carroll that night, but now has a bye week that week. They filled their former bye week with Lake City Columbia on Nov 3rd.
-
No, bye week is 9/8,
Original bye week was filled with the Columbia game

Champ Smith, TJ Alford, Robert Jones and Zanni Miller all to Vero.
Chauncey Miller and Jake Whitely (who just transferred in from Vero) both to Fort Pierce Central.
Those are the ones that come off the top of my head, there may be more, but I would have to dig a little. It may be a new “normal” in todays prep climate, but it’s just seems unusual given their recent success at JC.
-
Anybody have any idea what is going on here? Lots of kids transferring out and it does not appear like they wanted to, but had to due to factors outside their or the athletic depts control. Seems odd from a program that made it to the state semi's last year and has had recent success.
Maybe I am just reading it wrong, but my speculation is it has to do with $$$ since the school is a small private.

8/18 KOC- Dwyer

Thought they may ease up after last year, but nope, still very impressive:
8/18 @ Lake Wales
8/25 Kissimmee Osceola
9/1 Tampa Jesuit
9/8 Sanford Seminole
9/14 @ Martin County
9/22 @ St Thomas Aquinas
9/29 @ Cocoa
10/6 Bye
10/12 Ft Pierce Central
10/20 @ Centennial
10/27 Vero Beach
only one team that did not make the playoffs last season (Ft Pierce Central) and they are a district opponent so they must play them.

A very similar thing happened at the Vero-Melbourne game, a Melbourne player was taken away by ambulance and had to be airlifted to another hospital due to “internal injuries.” From what I heard it was a ruptured spleen and I was wondering if the young man is going to be ok. If there is anyone close to the Melbourne program, please update.

Vero Beach's defense is as tough as anyone else's in 4S. That alone will keep them in any game. I see them sneaking past Melbourne by a field goal next week in what will be a hell of a game. If Arunson can't come back soon, I can't see them getting past Osceola. Honestly, Osceola might be in the clear to win that region and meet Venice in round 4. We will see what happens. One game at a time.
I can’t see Aronson coming back by the week after next, he broke his thumb on 10/21 early in the Martin County game. Even if he’s out of the cast by then, a QB won’t be able to grip/throw a football like that.
Vero’s 2nd string QB is EJ White, but he’s a freshman and probably not mature enough to fully run the offense completely. The 3rd string QB Jake Whitely has performed admirably but he just doesn’t have the physical size needed to compete at a high enough level to allow Vero to out score playoff teams. The offensive line has to play better to give him a punchers chance at least.
If Vero stands any chance of beating Melbourne next week, they are going to have to play much cleaner football than they did tonight. Penalties and mental errors have absolutely killed them.
You have to give Harmony major props for coming into Vero and taking it to the Fighting Indians they way they did. They were there to win the game and we’re not just happy to be in the playoffs and it showed. Their coaching staff had a tremendous game plan and obviously did their homework on Vero to give themselves every opportunity they could to stay in the game.

By chance do you know how healthy we’re looking right now? Are we still on our 3rd string QB or has the 2nd string come back? I moved out of Vero and don’t hear a lot anymore.
I’m pretty sure 1st string Aronson is still out (broke thumb early in the Martin County game) backup EJ White I’m not sure, may still be going with 3rd string QB Jake Whitley tonight.

Yeah, listening to our local reporters interviewing the Harmony coach they were very surprised to get in. Vero should be happy with the matchup.
I think it caught Vero off guard too, Coach J (Vero’s coach) even went up to scout the Deland/Spruce Creek game I believe expecting to pay one of those two teams.

I understand that
I bring up Vero mainly because they are the biggest competition in that area to Treasure Coast as of late and are naturally competitive rivals as of late
I also bring it up because both teams have completely different scheduling approaches as Treasure Coast, unlike Vero, has played games in SFL against powerhouses while Vero hasn't played a road regular season game against a Dade or Broward school in years so I bring it up because I feel like he's taking the approach that teams are better based on what their record is with no true evaluation into those records
If record meant everything to how good a team is than Treasure Coast should have lost to Martin County tonight but they didn't
I agree, I wish Vero would make that trip down to Dade/Broward too, Vero had a home/home scheduled with Venice a few years ago, they played at Venice, but a hurricane canceled Venice’s ability to come here. I am hoping that the game they scheduled/played with Miami Palmetto this year was a home/home, and they’ll make the trip down there, but I doubt it.
I think the economics of it come into play at times too, Vero plays in front of a packed house every home game and it’s a tough thing to give up when the football gate revenue basically pays for the every other sports ability to play- especially in retirement communities like Vero where people see investing in high school sports as not necessary because their kids are grown and they don’t personally benefit from it.
