  1. Bingo. I hate any school that cheats and recruits kids. During my tenure as an assistant coach, we lost kids to both public and private schools. With the current rules? The HS has been decimated of any and all talent by local public schools. Yet the people there have been convinced that private schools are the enemy. Ridiculous.
  2. I’ve seen Beck & Jordan in person and film of Casteel, Scalzo, and Ransom. Beck is certainly the best. Jordan is perfect for Trinity but he’s not a great passer. Casteel & Scalzo both impressed me with decision making. Ransom is a true dual threat and extremely dangerous.
  3. Have heard the same. Nease & BT will be going up to 8A. School populations are up to 2700 at both. Creekside may go up as well but they’re on the bubble. 2300.
  4. Correct, my son attends a school that does not have open enrollment and my nephew does as well in another county. Both are schools with strong athletic programs
  5. Bingo. This is why I don’t advocate separating them. The biggest thing I’ve seen a private do to get kids in is allow students to do FLVS and go to their school...so basically the same thing almost any public can do. We’d be better off if we had a class where you could just do whatever you wanted openly (rather than just behind closed doors because the FHSAA just doesn’t care). I doubt any of the teams that do recruit would join it but it’d be interesting
  6. You could say “jobs in the school or school district are not acceptable.” And you’re on drugs if you think public schools couldn’t very easily take advantage of that.
  7. I’ll go with same score as last time Bolles vs TCA played. Competitive first half but overwhelming second half. I think Northeast Florida has legit shot at 3 titles: UC, Raines, and TCA. 4 for those who consider Lake City in that.
  8. I saw Godby vs Bolles went final with Bolles winning. That was shocking to me for two reasons: why did they play on a Thursday & how did Bolles win?
  9. Agree 100%. They will be extremely good next year but they aren’t winning a title this year.
  10. Haven’t seen any film of AHP but have of CG. TCA is more talented but will certainly need to take them seriously, just like they will Godby.
  11. TCA is certainly the most talented team in 5A. Having seen TCA in person and Rockledge on film, TCA is for sure more talented.
  12. Dang, I guess if they think you’re a good coach you can physically put your hands on students TWICE and still keep your job...
  13. And I’m certainly not saying all 1a teams complain about it (I’ve got friends from Madison Co and Pahokee who certainly say otherwise) but I’ve heard some things that didn’t sit well with me. I think the average 1a team is considerably better than the average 2a team & the same with the top teams.
  14. Oh no I agree, I just think that 2a is consistently the weakest class in the state and the 1a teams would be wise to play them more often...rather than complain.
  15. I wouldn’t mind seeing 1A & 2A combined and 3A & 4A combined. The 1A champ the past 5 years has more often than not been better than the 2A champ.

Columbia by 50. Only one Bolles player starts on Columbia’s team. Mandarin is the better team. More talented, bigger, and Ramsey is a dang good coach. I just don’t know if they’re planning on sitting guys or not

You think Fletcher is a better team than Mandarin? I’m not so certain.
  18. 1) Sense of pride. When you’re from a small town and you grew up going to HS football games, guess what? Support is going to be much higher than if you’re from Tampa and you have a 10,000 other options on a Friday night. 2) In stable communities you tend to have feeder programs that build directly up to the HS and so you have 10-15 new freshman each year in all sports who have experience doing the sport. Of course you’re going to be better than most. 3) As a guy who has seen firsthand the growth of Fleming Island athletics (I’ve lived there since 1996, well before it was opened), you need parental support, administrative support, and hard work to win. It is certainly much easier there than in inner city schools.
  19. I done told you guys what was going on over there and the kid explained it perfectly. The teams from the 90’s and 00’s were significantly bigger and more talented than any team I’ve seen in the 10’s. We used to be crapping our pants preparing for this team because they were physically dominant and were by far the best coached team we played. The two games I’ve seen of Bolles this year? Coaching level hasn’t changed. I think they could get nationally elite again but it will take a while.
  20. I am just going off of what I heard. That 3 players have been suspended due to their entrance prior to the start of the Fletcher game. This is apparently all started when a woman from Fletcher sent a letter to the FHSAA that she was “scared” I have since found out that the head coach is suspending them for this game.
  21. @ColumbiaHighFan2017class What’s going on over there? I saw something on Facebook about 3 players being suspended due to their entrance of the Fletcher game. Ridiculous
  22. Mandarin Raines Miami Central South Dade Cocoa Naples Wekiva Navarre Plant City Clearwater Central Catholic
  23. Bartram is up over 2600 students. Talked to my buddy who lives over there. Said he thinks they should be on border of going up@ColumbiaHighFan2017class
  24. I think 7A/8A will be shaken up in the Northeast FL area. May see Nease & BT move up to 8A. Lee is 6A sized
