What Bowman saw just before the leap

The real issue with the hurdling call in that game was that the defender went low and was trying to hit Bowman below the knees, Bowman leaped over him. What was Bowman supposed to do? Allow the hit below the knee? I understand the rule but safety needs to go both ways. even the announcer was sort of incredulous.

Lakeland's offense had to punt twice I think, once being stopped by penalties (lakeland had 2 TD's called back) and simply used the running clock to end the game, or at least try to. They also turned it over on downs at the end. IIRC My point was Manatee's D never really stopped Lakeland's O and so to answer the question "can anyone stop Lakeland" my view was that Friday night and the way their offense looks, the anser is NO.

And Lakeland didn't have their starting QB, a big time passer who transferred from Lake Wales. Adding a great passer to that running offense, who knows how good they can be. Will be fun to watch.

Yeah, that score is rough...but IMG is more like a jr. College team. Losing to IMG is nothing to panic over. Just move on to the next game and take it for what it was. Taking on a professional high school.

I and I think most Lakeland supporters were OK with the first half scores from last season. In none of those games did it really feel like those teams were hanging around. It felt like the tsunami had not fully churned on them...but inevitably it engulfed them all. On to whoever Superior Collegiate is.

I have never concerned myself with what teams might or could beat Lakeland, there are likely plenty of them. No one's invincible. The next game on the schedule is at Bryant stadium next week against the Superior Collegiate Legions. At this moment can Lakeland beat them?

Lakeland could stop lakeland and perhaps injuries. Last night only the Ref's stopped Lakeland and the running clock. Lakeland was awfully dominant last night and they were without their starting QB, transfer Chayil Garnett who is a big time passer. (6-2 205 with 2,028 passing yards and 18 TD's to just 4 INT's while at Lake Wales). When Lakeland adds that to their attack (and last night the QB was pretty decent when he did throw.) just imagine!

46-7 well so much for weak IMG - that is rough!

Lakeland pounded and threw the ball pretty well. Can't imagine what the injured QB could add. Was never close Manatee only really came close to scoring once and missed a FG.

Well a few more hours...fingers crossed on the weather... I expect Lakeland to win.

any thoughts? If Lakeland weren't at Manatee I would travel to Venice. IMG may have it's least " talented" team to date. Lots of underclassmen. Still it's more like a Junior college program so not sure just how "weak" they will be. Venice looks loaded. Thoughts?

Well I will be going (fingers crossed on the weather) to Lakeland - Manatee tonight. 2 years ago it had lightning zap the game. If it is a running clock then I will get home early.

To us alums the 2013 24-3 Kathleen loss was really dissapointing - That winning streak of 21 years was really something special...

I think Bill Castle's worst record on the field was 5-5 in 1981. He has had some wins vacated and that has led to some seasons being lost in the record book seasons but in actual games on the field I think 5-5 was the worst and only once. Lakeland is almost always a regular season power, a playoff contender and most years capable of deep runs and almost every year a shallow run. Few teams wouldn't be happy to have Lakeland's success. Same Coach since 1976 does not equal average coaching ability. Coach Castle received the Lakeland Ledger “Coach of the Year” for 1979, 1982, 1984, 1986, and 2004. The Tampa Tribune honored him with “Coach of the Year” in 1984 and 1986. At the Southeastern Coaches Association meeting in Atlanta, he was given the Kodak 5-A Coach of the Year award for 1986. In 2004 he was named FHSAA 5A coach of the year. He was named Assistant Coach for the Georgia-Florida All Star Football Game that was held in Orlando in June of 1989. He was head coach of the Florida South Team All Stars at the North/South All Star Game held in Jacksonville in June 1997. Castle has been inducted into the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame and the FHSAA Hall of Fame. He was named the FHSAA Coach of the Century, in 2007. It is very hard to repeat but look forward to see LHS and what they can do. The Camo Uniforms aren't their only version, Lakeland has a big booster club and has always had multiple jersey/Pant combinations. Only one helmet though. They wore the camo's 2 or 3 times last year. Black over black is still my favorite. But Black over orange, Black over white, Orange over orange, Grey over Grey...

And unfortunately the over building in Parrish itself. 10,000 new homes approved. Lakewood Ranch kids will be crossing the Manatee River, all the kids in Parrish were zoned for Palmetto High.

Parrish Community High School will begin play in 2019 - the school will begin with a Jr. Varsity schedule (despite what the photo shows) as the school will have only or at least the bulk of 9th and 10th graders. They will primarily be taking students from Palmetto High School as they are the only other HS north of the river in Manatee County. Originally named North River HS .
