  1. Congrats Coach Beekman, hope it leads to more success going forward as no matter where you are on the ranking spectrum it is a process. Not get too high when things are going right or too low when they are not. Steady progress day by day, week to week, month to month and year to year. Formula is actually simple, the work is not. Keep it going.
  2. According to the current FHSAA rankings (may change tomorrow), Vero sits in 4th place behind Bartram Trail, Lakeland and Venice. Whether you agree with this opinion or not (I don't) is irrelevant because it is the ONLY opinion that matters.
  3. This time of year most teams have key injuries including ours, especially if you do schedule against several very physical teams. My guess is TC probably had some key people missing also and though not a QB, it may have been just as impactful. They are basically a running team, that wants to play smashmouth football and control the clock. The backs they utilize are not dangerous breakaway threats like they had last year, so the OL is their bread and butter. If they were missing a couple of key OL against Vero it would have the same effect in their scheme.
  4. Many years ago I remember us struggling with poor officiating and just like you tried the proper channels to no avail. We eventually had to resort to the other side of the coin that Jambun implied a threat with and that is making a decision which were the absolute worse refs and scratching them so they couldn't step foot in OUR GYM. That at least mitigated having to deal with that handful of individuals you knew were the most problematic.
  5. That my friend, seems to always "TRIGGER" a reaction. Unfortunately, we don't qualify as one of the "WRONG TEAMS".
  6. Plus, Rockledge steamrolled a good Eau Gallie squad.
  7. There is the answer I am looking for. The regions play no role, only the seeding. Thank you very much.
  8. Thanks, but you I don't see that it does and if you did know they answer it would have just been easier to give it to me.
  9. Nothing in that thread addresses this specific question.
  10. Wow, I figured Heritage was favored just didn't expect that wide a margin of victory. That was the only chance for Harmony to get into the playoffs, to win out the rest of the season. Those kids gotta be real disappointed.
  11. Question for those that are familiar with the FHSAA format for the round of play between the 4 Regional Champions. Is it Region #1 vs Region # 2 and Region #3 vs Region #4? Or #! vs #3 and #2 vs #4? Have not been able to figure out where to find an answer to this round of games for either the Metro or Suburban teams.
  12. One of those games you must play as a district foe but again it is non-sensical to pound your chest over the lopsided score. It was 48-0 at halftime with a running clock during the 2nd qtr. and so lot of kids got playing time. I think we picked their QB for INT's 4 or 5 times with several kids getting into the act, so the script went as expected. Now we just need to focus on a solid game next week against West Orange who is back on a roll since getting their starting QB back from injury.
  13. Great respect for Dillard and I only gave my take because you solicited or challenged someone to name a school in the state that could be competititve with the big 3. I thought that was taking it a step to far. Your first statement that no team could go 3-0 or even 2-1 is most likely correct. But when it appears you disrespect other schools across the state that may perform as well in a losing fashion as Dillard did against that elite competition I had to weigh in. Again, all of it is only conjecture on either of our points of view.
  14. Sorry, got mixed up in what you were referencing.
  15. If that was the Viera HC prior to taking the AD job at Toho you are correct and they had the program on a real upward projection. Losing him and Coach Deas (with a promised HC job at Feltrim Academy) kids started leaving.
  16. Didn't realize half-time scores were a metric in comparing teams as you seem to allude in your games vs Central and STA. I guess I am old fashioned and still rely on final scores and Columbus vs Central was 42-35, sounds like a competitive outing while 43-7 not as much. If you do see great value in half-time scores then a 3-5 Treasure Coast team is right up your ally as they were tied with STA at 0-0 at half before falling 21-7. As for other teams that MIGHT be more competitive it is simply speculation on your part as it would be on mine without the game being played by the likes of Columbus, Lakeland, Edgewater, Seminole, etc.. vs those nationally ranked teams as those I named are also nationally ranked. Beating all 3 is an impossible bar for any team in the country. Winning 1 is not out of the question, especially vs STA but simply being competitive?? I guess that would be up to the eyes of the beholder, ie. in your eyes you were competitive. For others, not so much.
  17. In that Region 1 group, Ocoee has already defeated Winter Park and lost a tight one to Apopka 13-12. They probably do deserve the #1 ranking in their region and will be a tough out.
  18. Or #22 Rockledge vs #43 Osceola? Oh, nearly forgot we have that score already (30-7 in Kowboys favor).
  19. Actually Toho as a brand new school a few years back made tremendous strides in the first couple of years with former OHS alum and former Georgia football player Marc Deas as the HC. I think it was only their third season and they not only made it into the playoffs but actually won the first round. Since his departure they have struggled. By the way, with 80% of the season complete it looks like Zay is more than a complimentary piece. He appears to lead in yards, receptions, TD's and does good work on special teams for your WP Wildcats. Rumor is he may return at midterm to finish out his baseball career at OHS; have not been able to confirm.
  20. Not meaning to pile on one of our local schools, Toho Tigers but I must say this has turned into a very disappointing year for them. They entered with a lot of hype securing the Freshman QB with alot of promise to attend there, new coach from Lk. Nona and all the other chatter. After a 5-0 start and lots of chest thumping regarding passing records being set by this "Phenom" they got beat by an 0-7 Celebration team in their last outing. The HC with all his varsity experience should have known better as the combined record of their first 5 opponents to date is 7-35. Toho has lost their last three games in a row and will undoubtedly lose the last 2. That school has lots of potential with where they are located and I hope they do step it up in every way next year.
  21. Well, I thought the officials did a good job during our game with them this past Friday. Both got more penalties than they wanted but were probably warranted.
  22. Well, it appears Daytona Mainland took out it's frustration on Pine Ridge HS (0-7) with a 66-0 thrashing this evening. OUCHH!!
  23. Honestly, for as long as I can recall we have never scheduled bad teams for the reasons you enumerate. We schedule St. Cloud due to a long standing tradition (no longer a real rivalry) as the fans want it. The games you describe are always assigned district matchups. We may schedule teams we are favored against, tossups or slight underdogs as well as those ranked significantly ahead of us. If you want to truly compete in the playoffs it is what you MUST DO!
