Apparently the texts couldn't be traced back to someone involved with the school. They said it could very well just be a fan or something along those lines. I guess the coach didn't text off of their own phone, but it was very clearly the coach saying something to my kid....ridiculous but I can't even begin to fathom some of their decisions these days anyways. No worries. I get the apprehension to coaches not ratting each other out, but I have no qualms with it. -

I did. The first time. Apparently it was unprovable that there was any wrongdoing or recruiting from the accused party. I gave up after that. I saw the texts with my own eyes. I don't really care what bridges I burn here. I have nothing to lose. If I could get anyone in trouble for their wrongdoings I would. I try to do things the right way because it is the right thing to do. Unfortunately the FHSAA has no backbone. I was truly surprised they did what they did to MC and others. Maybe they are finally heading in the right direction. Hopeful but doubtful. -

The problem with "school choice for academic reasons" is that school choice for ATHLETIC reasons happens more often than the academic reasons. Typically. Because if a parent has a problem at MNW, they likely have the same type of problems at MC. If they have the same problems at Gainesville High, they probably have the same problems at Buccholz. If they are having issues at Crestivew, they likely will at Niceville. Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part a MAJORITY of public schools are relatively the same with their own little quirks. If parents don't like the school systems, their kids just go private and at that point school choice is irrelevant when it comes to transferring. But what it does allow is for athletes to jump around from school to school. I am all fine with it if kids/parents want to choose their school as a freshmen. That makes total sense. But once you transfer, unless you can document a parental job movement, you should be required to sit out a year of athletics. It worked before and they changed it to "give the kids the best chance" and it has just caused chaos and problems at every turn. It isn't better for kids to be at a different institution every year. Stability is important at that age. But they have people in their ears and THAT is the issue. It won't change back to how it used to be, and I am not saying it does, but they need to course correct and quickly or they will continue to lose great coaches to Georgia, Alabama, etc. because most I know are fed up with it. And again I know it isn't just a Florida issue, but Florida is among the worst. -

It is not always the case. It is the case 90% of the time. You'll defend those schools to death because it is who you are associated with and that is fine. And even IF (and it is not the case most of the time) the kids who "know who the hot hand is" they are still checking to make sure they're going to have a spot in that school. Those types of kids aren't just thinking "man MNW is really good this year, I'm going to head over there." You bet the mortgage that they reached out to the coaches over there and the coaches say come on....which is still illegal. And that isn't even the case most of the time. Coaches recruit. Even at the smaller schools, they recruit. I've seen it with my own eyes at multiple schools now. The FHSAA and recruiting in Florida is a joke. It is bad in other states, but it is awful here and no one can say otherwise. I had one of my star players this past season get a text from another coach during the season to transfer over. And it was a traditional power school. I have had smaller schools do the same to other players. I am on my way out of FL to head to the Carolinas next year for a bigger job, and I am glad to be leaving. It won't be perfect where I am going, but at least these other associations have some sense. -

When push comes to shove, people who are fans of the Metro/Traditional Power schools are okay with recruiting when it is those schools because "everybody does it," but when it is a rural school it is NOT okay. It is what it is. You can argue against it all you want and deny, deny, deny. We all know it is true. And this isn't about any one person or school in particular (though some of you will surely take it that way...), it is just the way that it is. The rules don't apply to me, but they apply to everyone else! -

Why do you think a lot of schools who were in 1A appealed to go to 1R or 2A lol

I like Osceola in a close one, I'll say 20-17.

I called almost half of these right btw. Considering it was upsets only, that’s pretty dang good.
