All -- early 25 years ago I started the Georgia High School Football Historians Association, and over the years we've built a fairly robust community of researchers. With the help of several key volunteers, over the past five years I've expanded coverage to include Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and last fall launched a completely redesigned site under a new name: the High School Football Historians Association.
Right now, the database holds more than 1 million high school football games, 55,000 players, and almost 30,000 coaches across those nine states.
Data in several states is very mature, but Florida in particular still needs a lot of attention. There's tremendous history across the state — from the panhandle programs to South Florida powerhouses to the small-town traditions in between — and we've only scratched the surface. With some help, the Florida section can become the resource high school football researchers in this state have been waiting for!
The site is here: High School Football Historians Association
Please visit, request an account, provide feedback, and let me know if you're interested in researching, verifying, correcting, or updating Florida data. Even a small amount of time dedicated to the project would be greatly appreciated, especially during the season. Since last year volunteers have collectively made over 250,000 updates through the site!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Looking forward to working with you,
Loren
