Region Three in Class 8A offers up at least three potential state finalist candidates, however only one will have the chance to advance out of the regional bracket in the end? Who will it be? We will find out in just a few short weeks, but let’s get you ready for the regional quarterfinals with a quick preview and our predictions.
NOTE: All game times are slated for 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Friday unless noted.
Boca Raton (8-2) at Palm Beach Gardens (6-3)
Last Playoff Appearance: Boca Raton, 2009; Palm Beach Gardens, 2014
Skinny: Boca Raton has put together one of its best seasons in over five years racking up an eight game win streak before dropping their final two regular season games. For Palm Beach Garden, games have been a struggle this year, including some close calls against teams they should have beaten more handily. Between both teams, Boca Raton has shown more on the field as team including strength as a team that will make them more than just a one-hit wonder in the playoffs.
Joe Pinkos Line: Boca Raton 13 over Palm Beach Gardens
FHSF Predictions:
Joshua Wilson: Boca Raton 35, Palm Beach Gardens 13
Corey Davis: Boca Raton 31, Palm Beach Gardens 14

Wellington (6-4) at No. 1 Delray Beach Atlantic (10-0)
Last Playoff Appearance: Wellington, 2014; Atlantic, 2014
Skinny: A rematch of Week 1, Atlantic enters this game rolling on a 10-game win streak that includes a final placement as the No. 1 team in FloridaHSFootball.com’s Class 8A rankings. The Eagles have been a team that has not been able to be stopped and could be in line to make a run to their first state title game appearance in 37 years. For Wellington, the Wolverines have struggled at times this season, but did get a win over Boca Raton in the regular season finale to bring some momentum. Just don’t expect a magical run this year from Wellington.
Joe Pinkos Line: Atlantic 24 over Wellington
FHSF Predictions
Joshua Wilson: Atlantic 38, Wellington 14
Corey Davis: Atlantic 42, Wellington 13

Plantation (8-2) at No. 7 Deerfield Beach (9-1)
Last Playoff Appearance: Plantation, 2014; Deerfield Beach, 2013
Skinny: Plantation managed to emerge out of District 8A-12 with a strong record after seeing Miramar take a step back as a team that usually is in the mix a state title contender. For the last few years, Plantation has been able to advance to the second round when they were in Class 7A, but this year is likely to be different. With Deerfield Beach coming in to the game with a load of talent as well as only one loss to Class 4A state-ranked Bolles team, the Bucks are another team that could make a potential state championship run. If that happens, it would be a first for Deerfield Beach since 2005.
Joe Pinkos Line: Deerfield Beach 11 over Plantation
FHSF Predictions
Joshua Wilson: Deerfield Beach 28, Plantation 21
Corey Davis: Deerfield Beach 34, Plantation 21

Piper (9-1) at No. 8 Flanagan (7-2)
Last Playoff Appearance: Piper, 2003; Flanagan, 2014
Skinny: Piper’s 9-1 record might be sort of deceiving in a lot of ways. The reason? When it finally met a stronger team on the field in Deerfield Beach for the district championship a couple of weeks ago, it couldn’t muster up any points. However, that doesn’t say they won’t be able to against Flanagan despite the fact the Falcons have a defense that has played tough for most of the season despite taking two losses along the way, including one to St. Thomas Aquinas. In saying that, what thought would be banner year for the Falcons hasn’t really been anything as such and that goes on to say that a potential state championship run could be in serious jeopardy depending if the Falcons can make it out of the regional bracket this year.
Joe Pinkos Line: Flanagan 35 over Piper
FHSF Predictions
Joshua Wilson: Flanagan 31, Piper 7
Corey Davis: Flanagan 38, Piper 3
