TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — FloridaHSFootball.com along with Varsity Sports Network, a partner of the NFHS Network is proud to announce they will be doing a LIVE preview show of the 7th Annual Capital City Classic that is coming up this weekend (March 31-April 1) at Buffalo Wild Wings of Tallahassee this Thursday (March 30) starting at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. It will be hosted by FloridaHSFootball.com Owner & Publisher Joshua Wilson, Marty Pallman and Bobby Latmore.

The show, which will be part of FloridaHSFootball.com’s Gridiron Report which launched last week in podcast form, will feature interviews with coaches, players, and tournament organizers. We will also dive into the current rankings and look at the first round matchups scheduled for Friday afternoon. And we also just might pull some of the photos out from last year’s tournament and dig into some history behind the tournament and how it has been a catalyst for the Flag Football in Florida.

Some of the local teams, plus a couple of out-of-area teams participating in the Capital City Classic will be there to take part in the show.

Those teams include:
Godby (Tallahassee)
Rickards (Tallahassee)
East Gadsden (Havana)
West Gadsden (Greensboro)
Munroe Day (Quincy)
Leon (Tallahassee)
Florida High (Tallahassee)
FAMU DRS (Tallahassee)
Wakulla (Crawfordville)
Lincoln (Tallahassee)
Madison County (Madison)
Markum High School from Canada

The Capital City Classic was launched in 2011 to help provide an established tournament for FHSAA Girls Flag Football teams to help schedule games as part of their 12 game schedule. It has grown from a tournament field of eight varsity teams in the first tournament played in 2011 to 28 varsity teams that will be taking part of the competition this weekend.

“We are extremely excited to partner with Varsity Sports Network and the Captial City Classic to bring something that has never been done before in the State of Florida and that is putting Girls Flag Football in front and center,” said FloridHSFootball.com Owner and Publisher Joshua Wilson. “Flag Football, which has been growing in popularity over the last five years, deserves the exposure like other FHSAA sanctioned and recognized sports have been receiving. And with us partnering with Varsity Sports Network, not only for Flag Football but for other exciting ventures, this will only allow us to do more to provide the exposure that is currently lacking.”

Tournament co-organizer Ricky Hufty, also the head coach at Rickards had this to say about the tournament:

“We could not be more excited for this year’s tournament with the teams and people coming. Along with some of the absolute best talent this state has to offer, and a great cast of teams from all over the state with all different levels of experience, we have a team from Canada coming (Markham HS) which will mark the first ever international high school flag football game played in Florida and in the US for that matter. We have the first ever South Florida team coming to the Captial City Classic in Glades Central. And perennial state powers and blue blood programs Robinson, Alonso, Apopka, Godby, Lincoln, and many more. ”

The Capital City Classic Preview Show will be part of a larger showcase of LIVE streaming games from the tournament that will air on the Varsity Sports Network, the NFHS Network, and on FloridaHSFootball.com.
