Trinity Catholic Celtics (2-1) at No. 19 Bolles Bulldogs (3-1)
When: Friday
Where: Skinner-Barco Stadium, Jacksonville
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
Skinny: The visiting Celtics are coming off a 27-25 home loss to The Villages which was the most competitive matchup that the Celtics have had in just three games. In that game quarterback, Cole Gonzales (2022) went 13-of-19 for 188 yards passing and one touchdown. However, the biggest shocker may come as The Villages held talented running back Jamarian Samuel (2021) to just 69 yards rushing and a touchdown. It is exceedingly rare that Samuel is kept under 100 yards rushing in a game and as such a team that usually keeps him under that mark has a chance to win. Defensively, Joshua Jenkins (2022) and Marquis Jones (2022) led the way last week with 12 and 10 tackles respectively while Jay Baker (2021) forced a fumble and recovered that fumble for the Celtics. The host Bulldogs last week blew out Palatka 49-0 at home with impressive efforts coming from both sides of the ball. Quarterback Gunner Boree (2021) went 6-of-8 passing for 118 yards and two touchdowns while running back Azeh Kani (2021) had 155 yards rushing and a touchdown on just nine carries. Defensively, the Bulldogs collected five sacks while Caden Fordham (2021), Kavon Miller (2023), and Mack Marrone (2021) each had interceptions that were returned for touchdowns in the game.
